When we get our Vitas in a week or two, do we still have to look for dead pixels with the OLED screens or dead pixels are a thing of the past with this new screens ?

I remember dead pixels being a problem with the original PSP LCD screens.

I don't understand the 'hate' for the FEB bundle. You're paying extra to get the console early, fine. Everyone in this thread, that wants the Vita, is probably a big fan of handheld gaming, Sony and/or a hardcore gamer. We're the kind of people that import games from Japan for three times the price they cost just because they won't be released here. Therefore getting a less than great bundle is a bonus as I imagine a lot of us would buy the Vita for an extra $50-100 on it's own just to get it a week early.

I know if there was a way for me to get a Vita on the 15th in the UK I would pay a little extra.

I didn't know that the U.K. doesnt have an FEB launching on the 15th

I haven't seen any reports concerning dead pixels since the Japanese launch.

everything is relative. HSG on Vita is clearly based on the PS3 game, just that unfortunately it isn't running in native resolution (probably *because* its using PS3 assets and not properly optimised)

Gotcha. I haven't really seen it in motion yet. I'll probably end up thinking it looks fine.

:p

I think in terms of resolution even the original PSPs 480x272 wasn't that bad. The 'SubHD' games that we're seeing now are still generally more than twice that resolution on an almost identically sized screen. It's more that these screens have hardware pixels, so scaling can look a bit iffy at times.

both uncharted and HSG look fine. Just when you're looking at it from a technology point of view you can notice some blurriness etc where its been scaled up. I don't really notice once I'm playing.

I see that VGP has listed an MLB The Show Dual pack - get the Vita and PS3 version. At US$98 it seems like a pack they may have created themselves as that would be standard pricing wouldn't it? Still it would be good to see that these may be pushed going forward. I for one would love to have Franchise mode available 24/7. They are saying available on 6th March.

There's no point in selling them as a pack if you aren't going to offer a reasonable discount. For those in the US, this is your chance to get the superior cover.

So many people proclaiming their switch to the 3G model. Sticking to Wi-Fi here. Mark my words, you all will be kicking yourselves down the line when you see what a waste it was :)

Best to put that extra $50 towards a larger memory card, IMO.

I decided to pre-order Army Corps of Hell. Sad to see it selling so poorly on amazon.

The opposite is more likely, especially when games that are better with a GPS hit. In fact, some have already in Japan.

I'm just getting the Wi-Fi but I don't see how the 3G is going to be a waste. It isn't hindering the functionality of the system. The GPS will always be there for Near functionality.

I switched from Wifi/32GB to Wifi/3G 8GB. I made this decision to future proof my purchase. It also allows me to buy more launch/launch window games. I can also get a 32GB card when they hit the $50 range. I don't think it's a waste at all.

I think those that are dogging the FEB should relax on it and let those that are getting it enjoy it.

They are obvious excited for the Vita, so much so that they want to get it a week early, why shit on their excitement?

I'm not getting one but hey, if you have the extra scratch and getting the FEB has you excited for the Vita, more power to you.

Don't know if this is apropos for this thread, but are you guys keeping your old PSP's or selling them? Since most of my games are on UMD, I'm definitely keeping my old silver 2000.

Yeah, I've got a little over 40 games on UMD. With no ability to transfer them, I've got to keep my PSP2000. I also have a launch PSP 1000, but it's probably not worth anything at this point.

Yeah, I think FEB was a better deal before the 3G bundle was announced.

Sorry guys. I'm not trolling, I just hate to see my fellow gamers deluding themselves over how potentially useful the 3G will be in terms of its usefulness in actual games. I agree that if you have the extra $$$, and you want the 3G "just in case", I wouldn't fault anyone for spending their cash how they see fit. But a lot of posters here are making comments about their Vita budgets, yet some are still getting the 3G model, and I can only wonder... why? In what scenario are you going to want to pay $15/mo for 250mb of data that you have to use within 30 days... and you are paying a $50 premium just to have that opportunity... it baffles me!

I wonder how many of you getting a 3G Vita do not have a smart phone or other cell phone already? That would at least make some sense to me...

If I'm wrong about 3G I promise, I *will* eat my words on this matter. In any case I'm just glad other people are as excited about the Vita platform as I am... it is everything I've ever wanted in a handheld.

Here's how I look at the first edition bundle, which I am getting.

Okay, I spend $250 for a Vita. Then I need a memory card, so at least $20. Then I need a case, and I would pay $30 for that case that's included. Oh, and Little Deviants looks like a $20 game. There, I'm paying $30 extra to have it a week early. And I'll skip Hot Shots Golf because the game cartridge is so ugly.

Maybe you should stop trying to do anything about it. People buying the 3G either in the FEB or standalone don't need you telling them that their wrong to make that purchase - which is exactly what you're doing. If you don't want it, fine! I'm not here to tell you what to buy and what not to buy and I wouldn't assume to do so.

I'm getting a little tired of the trend in this thread of people questioning the purchases of others. So if you're getting the FEB, you're obviously a deluded fan boy who doesn't know how to spend his money properly? Same goes for those who are simply getting the 3G standalone now?

Give me a break. This is getting tiresome.

... and I can only wonder... why?
Easy: 8 GB Memory Card and an offer for a free downloadable game. Right there, even if you never activate the month and claim your game that's $20 extra "just in case" with the location tracking beefed up as you hit wi-fi spots, and even with the required month to get the free game that's still two free months of the low data service. So hey, you get to try it out for an extended period to see if you care for it too!

And I guess if you really want to play Hot Shots Golf as you travel with other players then the 3G will be useful.

makes you wonder, eh? We pay the most for Sony products, we buy the most Sony products and we never get any cool stuff. Not even Gravity Rush retail.

:(
I think Sony is trying to make amends with Europe. So far I've noticed that all Vita releases are the same time for Eur as for NA. EUR games are more difficulr to localize because of the different languages, etc. I figure Gravity Rush is dd because that way it won't have to wait for production and can release sooner. Does this make sense?

I played Gravity Rush earlier, while not exactly graphically impressive, it's really fun, and the animation is incredible. I was going to hold off for a few months, maybe get one xmasish, but I'll probably bite in March now.

Not to troll or anything but just wanted to know what the benefits of the 3G model are in the Vita? Is there some sort of similar model in the US like in Japan where people can use prepaid data plans? If not I don't see why people not opt for getting the wifi model and just tether on their phones. I know originally I would never have considered getting the 3G model since I am already paying monthly for data plan for my phone but if there are some other benefit to 3G or a prepaid model then I would consider switching my views.

Make sense. Also, production costs are different when you have to create and distribute a single version on two countries (even if it's a large country) than 10 versions (even if the game is the same, the packaging, instruction manual, etc, is different) on 20 countries.

Damn I really want both but no way am I paying full price for both. I will pick up the Vita version and wait to pick up the PS3 version I guess.

*Raises hand*

I don't believe in cell phone plans, thus no need for a smartphone. Still rocking my Motorola Razr from... who knows when? Pay as you go for life!

Was unsure if I actually wanted to drop $350 on the Vita but I pre-ordered the FEB bundle anyway thinking that if nothing else, it would make a nice collector's item down the road. But now I'm leaning towards cancelling it and given the fact that you can still pre-order it just about anywhere a week from launch I doubt it's going to be worth much.

The only reason I am not getting the 3G bundle is because it's not avilable in canada but I would have no issue with getting one and I do have a smartphone.

Malicious gets a PSN release in Europe tomorrow.

I hope the Vita version will go out soon, I've watched the trailer again and whoah.

99% of the games will never feature 3G-only content though. Because the wi-fi model will be alot more popular and they can't shut those people out.

I said nothing about 3G. Please re-read my post.

I'm talking about the GPS, and some Vita games already take advantage of it.

WiFi model does not have a GPS.
