It should be possible to install a other language in the Steam libary (right-mouse click on the game).

Anyone ever wished that Skyrim had become advanced enough to figure out how to make gunpowder?

Steam Workshop Updates & Features
posted by Alden @ 11:09PM on February 06, 2012

Over the last couple weeks we’ve been hard at work on the Steam Workshop, making improvements and adding new features in response to requests from Team Fortress 2 Workshop users and beta testers of the Skyrim Workshop. With the Workshop for Skyrim going live in less than a day, we wanted to get these changes out and ready for prime time. Below is a full list of recent additions. As always, please leave a comment and let us know what you think or if you encounter any issues.

Ability to edit the title & description from the Workshop website – Making it easier for you to update the information you display about your Workshop item.
Tracking number of current subscribers and lifetime number of unique subscribers – For Skyrim mods, you’ll be able to see both how many people are currently subscribed and how many have ever subscribed.
Tracking unique views – Now you can see how many people have viewed your Workshop item. This is only counting forward, so existing items won’t have data from previous views.
Favorites – Now you can add any Workshop item to your Favorites list to help find it later. You can also see what your friends have added to their Favorites.
Tracking number of current favorite lists and lifetime number of unique favorite lists – You’ll be able to see stats on how many people currently have any item on their Favorites list and how many have ever added it to their Favorites.
Visibility status – You can now change the visibility of your Workshop item to be Public, Hidden, or Friends-only.

So today is the day, then.

Steam page for the High res pack states at least 1 GB vram is needed, but i'm wondering how performance will be with exactly 1 GB. I'll wait for impressions before I download.

Awww... they knew I was going to buy it right when the CK released so they lowered the price just for me. How sweet!

LOTS of new content posted on the Bethblog. Holy shit!

Skyrim just got even bigger

Ready to start using the Creation Kit and Skyrim Workshop? Bethesda Game Studios level designer Joel Burgess gets you ready below…

When we created Skyrim, we set out to make the largest, most engrossing role-playing game we had ever attempted. Now it’s about to get a whole lot bigger, thanks to our amazing modding community.

Mod-makers have a long history with Bethesda Game Studios, bringing to life new quests, locations and characters, as well as making changes to game from subtle tweaks to full-blown overhauls. With the Creation Kit, the same tool we used to create Skyrim, there’s almost no limit to what can be accomplished – and we’re putting that power in your hands.

Best of all, access to the Skyrim Workshop and Creation Kit is free for anybody with a Steam account and a copy of Skyrim.

With the Skyrim Workshop, finding and installing your favorite mods is easier than ever before. Mod-makers will also enjoy a streamlined process for uploading mods directly to Steam.

Finding and Installing Mods

Ready to begin a whole new adventure? Finding mods for Skyrim is as simple as visiting the Skyrim Workshop in the Steam Community. Here you’re able to browse the most popular, newest or highest-rated mods of all time, as well as searching for specific content via tags such as “Armor”, “Quests”, “Dungeons”, and more.

Once you have found a mod you’d like to play, click the “Subscribe” button. Be sure to check the mod description for any special instructions, such as which NPC starts a quest, or how to acquire new items. The next time you play Skyrim, the launcher will automatically install the latest version of any subscribed mods and configure Skyrim to run them.

Be sure to come back to the Workshop after playing and leave a rating and any comments you have on the mod’s page.

Creating and Uploading your Mod

By uploading your mod to the Skyrim Workshop on Steam, you’ll be able to reach a whole new audience of players, seamlessly deploy updates, and get direct community feedback on your work.

The difficult part, of course, is creating your mod. To get started modding, install the Creation Kit — free through Steam to all Skyrim owners — from the Tools section of your Steam Library. The Creation Kit is a powerful and sometimes daunting tool, but the community wiki at www.CreationKit.com is a resource for modders of all skill levels, even the total beginner.

When you’re ready to share your work with the world, simply choose “Upload plugin and archive to Steam” from the File menu within the Creation Kit. Here you’ll be prompted to choose a name for your mod, as well as any description, content tags and thumbnails. The Creation Kit will notify you once the mod has successfully been uploaded to Steam.

To view your new mod page, simply visit your Steam profile page, and click “View Workshop Files”. Here you’ll be able to access all of your mods in one place.

To distribute a new version of your mod, re-upload from the Creation Kit. Any subscribed users will automatically get the latest version when they launch Skyrim.

Disclaimer

We won’t host offensive, copyrighted, or trademarked material on the Skyrim Workshop. Mods with this kind of content will be banned, so please don’t bother uploading them.

Long Live Skyrim

Bethesda is committed to supporting Skyrim for years to come, and this includes supporting our already-thriving mod community. It’s our hope that Workshop provides the perfect meeting place for mod-makers and players — even those who have never tried a mod before. What the Skyrim Workshop becomes is ultimately up to you, however — and we can’t wait to watch the adventure unfold.

With the Creation Kit’s release, fans can now upload, download, and install custom content through the Skyrim Workshop on Steam. Get a crash course by reading level designer Joel Burgess’ blog post, and be sure to read up on our list of best practices for modding. Need more help? Don’t forget to to check out the official Wiki at www.CreationKit.com. In the coming days and weeks, we’ll be sharing tutorial videos for beginners and experts alike. Check out the first tutorial above, and visit the Bethesda Game Studios account for more.

In addition to releasing the Creation Kit and Skyrim Workshop, today we’re allowing players to experience Skyrim as you’ve never seen it before with the Skyrim High-Resolution Texture Pack. Before downloading it from Steam, make sure your system requirements exceed Skyrim’s recommended specs before attempting to install, including a minimum of 4GB of system RAM and a DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with at least 1 GB of RAM and the latest drivers.

Troubleshooting

Skyrim Mods Best Practices and Troubleshooting

Are you a mod newbie? Have you visited mods.elderscrolls.com and subscribed to some highly rated, popular mods? Here are some tips to help you get started.

Back up your saves. Your saves are located in your My Documents/My Games/Skyrim/Saves. Just make a copy of that directory as a backup.
Do not overwrite existing saves. Only make new saves while playing mods so that your original saves still exist if you decide you want to go back to playing without mods.
When you play Skyrim with a mod, in most cases, the new data for the mod will be written into any new saved games you create. For example, if you play Skyrim with Mod X and create a save, the next time you load that save, the game will expect Mod X to also be loaded. If you no longer want to play Skyrim with Mod X, it is best to unload Mod X (by unchecking the plugin under Data Files in your Skyrim launcher) and loading a save that does not require Mod X, usually an older save or a backed up save.
When trying mods with updated graphics settings, make sure your computer meets or exceeds Skyrim’s recommended specs <link>. We strongly recommended running with Windows Vista/7 with at least 4 GB of RAM and a video card with at least 1 GB of Video RAM.
Visit our mod forums. There are sticky threads and a decades old community of modding veterans – a treasure trove of information about creating and playing mods.

Frequently Asked Questions

I downloaded a mod but don’t see it when I run Skyrim.

Check in the Skyrim Launcher under DATA FILES. Make sure the box next to the mod you want to play is checked.

How do I unsubscribe from a mod?

You can unsubscribe in two ways.

Go into the Steam client and log into Community. Select WORKSHOP FILES under ACTIONS. You should see a link called SUBSCRIBED ITEMS. Selecting SUBSCRIBED ITEMS will display a list of mods you are subscribed to, and allow you to unsubscribe from them.\
Go into your Skyrim Launcher and uncheck the plugin of the mod you want to unsubscribe from. The Launcher will first ask if you want to delete the mod’s files. Select Yes. The Launcher will next ask if you want to unsubscribe.

I unsubscribed to a mod on Steam, but it still appears in my data files in my Skyrim launcher.

Unsubscribing a mod means you will no longer receive updates. If you do not want to play with a mod loaded, uncheck the box next to the plugin in Data Files. When you uncheck the plugin, the Launcher will ask if you want the files removed. If you confirm yes, the mod’s files will be deleted locally.

How many mods can I subscribe to at one time?

There is practically no limit. However, we advise caution in running several mods simultaneously since mods can often change the same part of the original Skyrim game and cause conflicts.

What if a mod isn’t working?

Mods are typically in active development so you should post feedback on the mod’s workshop page or on our forums to let the mod’s author know that you are having issues. Provide as much information as you can to help them diagnose your issue.

What are the system requirements for playing with mods?

We suggest your system requirements meet or exceed Skyrim’s recommended system requirements when playing mods.

Is Steam required to play mods?

Steam is only required to subscribe and play mods from Skryim Workshop <link>. Steam is not required to play mods hosted on other sites.

Can I play mods on my Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3?

The Creation Kit is for PC only.

what's this "Fall of the Space Core, Vol. 1" thing?

To celebrate the opening of the Steam Workshop for Skyrim, Valve and Bethesda have teamed up to bring you the Space Sphere mod, which'll let the aggressively space-centric little robot tag along on your adventures in Tamriel.

Whats the res of the upgraded textures? Im hoping a modder puts out a 1024 version so i can have moderately sharper textures without exploding my gtx 460...

Looks like the High Res Texture pack comes as a set of two esps, so you can easily enable/disable them via NMM or Wyre Bash. Very nice.

Do they list what exactly is updated? Is it everything? I have a couple Dragon Hi Rez mods that I dig and wouldn't want them overwritten right now.

Downloading now. Awesome.

Of course this and the Creation Kit release and Skyrim gets a discount the day that Reckoning is released ;)

While I haven't been able to test yet, I'm assuming any installed texture packs from Nexus will overwrite the new high res texture pack. This is based on the fact is uses esps and bsa archives and that current texturepack installation method overwrites the core bsa's.

Yes sir. Just figured that out. *slaps forehead*. That's good news as I like the trees mod I have and the dragons but the rest can go in favor of this. Once someone puts up comparison pics.
