Just got in, which was very unexpected sicne I took part in the survey when i still had my old, good for nothing PC.
Downloading right now. Now I just have to find a way to get into this game. OP and WIki, here I come.

So what I gather from the last few posts is that beta invites are going out again? This is from the Steam survey and not the playdota giveaway right? Do the people in this wave get 2 extra invites?

Greetings all. Finally got my account verification email, and since I would like to get involved with the community, is this the place where inhouses would be formed or is there another thread/ingame channel where people congregate?

Yeah I just played against bots. Its going to be an uphill battle if I decide to stick with this game.

So many characters to choose from, so many items to buy. It took me ages just to find out how to buy items from the shop, it doesn't say you need to right click anywhere!

Congrats on your fist post on GAF.

Recent waves hasn't been getting the two extra invites unfortunately.

True, game was so much different back then, IIRC the runes system were different, only 1 type of wards, naix had only passive skills and no flying couriers or dusts of appearance... Hell I remember when Lothar's was introduced, everyone was raving about it
I remember when the secret shop was actually a secret hahah good times.

Right before my account got activated a lot of the Meeru stuff went down and his clones/fake accounts were posting here a lot, and every new guy that came in this thread was accused of being Meeru. I was sure it was gonna happen to me when I finally got in haha.

But it didn't.. so...
no I'm not Meeru

Just had a look at a spectator match. Wow this game looks a lot better than I've ever seen it before, graphically.

Going to start playing it after work tomorrow (well, today now) since it is so late.

Ah I see.

If you're not from Portland, you are safe.

Well that's good, Portland is on the other end of the country from here.

Also they're changing the replay format and making it possible for them to be parsed:

We will soon be releasing more information about the features the new replay format will bring and we plan to publish the format of the replay files so that third parties can parse them for game information.

They're also adding the ability to view custom games you've played from your profile, so you can finally download the replays.

Just got in as well. Got absolutely wrecked in my first game (as far as I could tell). Everyone else on my team was playing their first game as well but from what it seemed like the people we played against had been in the beta for quite a while.

I guess it's time to start reading some guides and grinding some games.

Good positive attitude.

Hey DotaGaf~ Was wondering if there's any Asian players here in this forum. Been playing solo since most of my friends don't play dota.

*first post!*

Judging by some of the Neogaf Dota players here, I would be surprised if we didn't have any Asian players :)

Oh is that Nova guy famous? He always asks me to come support him on CM

, him and Colby.

Dunno, haven't heard of him in any tournament but he's listed under Competitive Players on StreamDota2.

He just killed a Warlock named Swag, thought it was you for a sec till I checked steam username.

Been trying to get back into the Dota scene, simply from a viewing perspective mind you, but it's been hard to adjust to all the changes. For reference, I stopped playing before Windrunner was introduced, which going off the official change logs was at the very latest 6.55, but I may have quit much earlier. As a result I don't recognize a whole host of heroes and bunch of abilities have been changed on the ones I do, not to mention all the new items.

As I watch more commentaries I feel like I'm absorbing some working knowledge, but it's frustrating to know that I can't have that instinctual knowledge of when someone is in danger, overextending, making good item choices, etc, that I had when I was playing. Someone might say amazing shackle-shot, but I miss having a frame of reference for just how hard spells are to land in certain situations, or how difficult certain heroes are to play as and against.

I totally understand you, because it has been a while for me since I last played Dota 1 and then playing again in Dota 2. I have never even seen how Ancient Apparition is played in Dota 1. But once you play it, it becomes very, very easy to get back into the hang of things.

Finally got in! The game looks much better, texture and animation wise then waht I've seen in streams and such. Having internet issues so can't really start a game but that's ok. FEELS GOOD MAN!

Shadow Fiend Ult + Dark Seer Vacuum! :D

Oh man I'm loving the Ethereal Blade build for SF. Just need to get it in 13 minutes (after treads) to be effective :p
