alice has a beautiful lips :p
episode 5-6 damn good

At first I was wait there's only 6 episode then there's a season 2

Is it really a good show? Better than The Wire?

Kind of related, the BBC has a new four part heist thriller called 'Inside Men' staring two actors from Luther starting this Thursday on BBC1:

I literally can't see that dude without wanted to murder him to death so I probably won't watch this.

Fucking bastard piece of shit.

Series 2 is now on US Netflix

I'm 2 episodes into season 2, and I'm in love. Absolutely stellar. The "Next Time on Luther" segment at the end of every episode is beautiful cut into the credits.

What a fucking awesome show.

just watched the whole series in a couple of days...as everyone else said, for the first 2-3 eps i thought it was average at best but then it becomes amazing. can't wait for s3.

Started watching this show last week, up to the 5th episode of the first series. Absolutely amazing! Can't believe what happened in episode 5, looking forward to seeing the season finale.

The next series is going to be the last one, then they plan to make a Luther film:

The creator of Luther is also writing the 'The Day Of The Triffids' reboot (Sam Raimi is producing)

depressing but I can live with one more series if they can make a movie every now and then to keep the love going.

Just started watch this 'coz Netflix is streaming it.

Holy shit.

Fucking phenomenal show. Elba is fucking marvelous. The chemistry between Luther and Alice. The cat and mouse game between the two. The camera work. The soundtrack. So good.

So damn good.

Alice is so attractive.

Well since this got bumped....

Really glad this got the Emmy attention it deserves. Hopefully they win their categories. Didn't look closely at the other noms so I don't know how likely it is.

- Variety: 'Luther' creator eyes Alice spinoff
Though Ruth Wilson had to be written out of Emmy-nominated BBC America miniseries “Luther,” show creator and exec producer Neil Cross has big plans for her Alice character.

Cross said he has spoken to the BBC about creating a miniseries that would center on Alice, the beguiling serial killer with whom Idris Elba’s Luther tangoed in the first set of “Luther” episodes.

“The BBC is very interested in the project,” Cross told Variety today. “The only real question would be how many and how often we would do it — whether it would be a one-off miniseries or a returning miniseries, a co-production or not.”

The Alice project would come in addition to a proposed “Luther” movie that would follow the miniseries third and final set of episodes, which will air on BBC America (which co-produces with the BBC) at a time to be determined.

I could see that series easily going both ways. I want it to be good but I don't know how good it would be centered around her. She was criminally absent from S2 and I wanted more but a show on her may be too much.

So no Alice in s3 (if s3 ever happens)?

The writing was on the wall with season 2.

Unfortunately, Luther pretty much peaked with its pilot. Then it dove into ridiculously exaggerated storylines and Luther being a magical super cop.

I could be interested in a miniseries focusing on Alice, assuming they have good stories and can keep it from being too over-the-top.

hate to say it, but agreed. the two s2 plots were too ridiculous for a show that was, while not necessarily realistic, a bit of the grittier side of London. Damn good pilot though... miss Alice and Luther have scenes together. Their chemistry made the show.

Watching the first season. The shows been awesome. Holy fuck at episode 5!

The show also has the most incredible credits sequences.

Super excited. I can see why people thought s2 was weaker but the only thing I hold against is no Alice. I'm over it though. I want to be Idris Elba when I grow up.

Since The Wire seems to get mentioned a lot: I've always wondered, what do Wire fans think of Treme? I never see anyone talk about it, yet it seems to have gotten a great critical reception.

Thanks. Looking forward to it. Too bad we're only getting four episodes, but that's better than none.

This is a good comparison post. (I'm too lazy to write my own.)
Really, the thematic direction is similar to The Wire in that this is fundamentally a show about a city, only it's New Orleans instead of Baltimore. But it's not similar to anything else: long ponderous sections of the regional music, which you may or may not enjoy depending on your taste, married to fantastic character development centered around what it takes to recover when your city literally drowns. And specifically, it's about trying to recover the soul of an entire culture.

It's really good most of the time.
It's a very good/great show, but don't expect it to be too similar to The Wire and it's certainly not for everyone. I don't want to derail this thread, so please stop by the Treme thread if you want to know more.
