People are too damn sensitive these days

Yup. It's getting to where you can't even call the doorman Sambo or smack your wife in the mouth when she gets out of line without some PC busybody causing a fuss over nuthin'.

one big example.... Atheists don't like religious people praying as they did for hundreds of years before in public places or schools or anywhere. its their personal belief and choice. On the other hand religious people try to force their religion. Door to door religion one example

I feel like we're talking about different types of sensitivity here. To paint roughly, it seems that most people who think that racial sensitivity is important wouldn't give a fuck about the MIA thing (probably be totally fine with it actually).

Why? Because she herself is a minority. Hypocrites much? Reverse racism is really the biggest problem out of all of these, and yet it gets ZERO media coverage.

I just got an essay proposal back and I lost a few marks because I didn't use "gender neutral" language. I used the word man made and man which was used in quoting context but I got an underlined twice comment saying its human not man.

Gender neutral language is a well justified convention, but it's dumb to mark someone down for accurately quoting another person.

Agreed but in the context of a quote I don't think so I certainly wasn't going to change the original authors words

Got to use [sic] and resubmit it. :lol What was it for if you don't mind my asking?

Geography paper, the person I was quoting was saying "These man made problems are often..." and so on and then "Man has always..." and so on.I agree gender neutral words should be used when in the appropriate context but I don't see man made as offensive in this particular context.

I would have file a complaint with the school and also send it to some media outlets to raise hell. gender neutral language my tuckus.

My buddy who works in a bike store in the U.S told me about his incident he had. He was showing a customer mountain bikes, when he mentioned this bike:

The Ibis Tranny

The customer burst out laughing, and told my friend:

"So it is a male or female bike, huehuehuehuehehehehe"

o_____o;

I would smile politely and have his money. His douchebaggery wouldn't concern me because he is a douchebag. not me. Also nobody is perfect. People's views can change over time.

Public worship is rarely objected to, unless it involves breaking the law. More problematic are attempts to legitimize specific religious practices and ideologies with the authority of the state. Also a no-no: religious intrusion into the social sphere under the pretense of free exercise of religion (e.g. persecuting sexual minorities, denying people access to contraceptives or modern medical treatment). Personal beliefs and choices don't give an individual the right to trample the rights of others.

Prayer in schools is fine as long as individuals do it privately, but it would be inappropriate for a public school to lead prayer sessions. Bear in mind that citing tradition is a very weak way to argue for the respectability of a practice. Public executions and slavery are classic counterexamples.

This threads gay
Uh-oh.

Yeah, you get banned over the silliest things here on GAF.
Yeah, obviously that's because the mods are too sensitive.

OP needs real examples or else I'm just going to chalk this one up to more "we're becoming too PC I can't handle being a decent person" crap.

And I consider the example in the OP separate from other instances talked about in here.

Uh-oh.

you forgot another example: holding up a plane's take off procedures because it's time to pray

i may give this the benefit of the doubt and suggest he is making some meta-comment on the thread and its content.

in related news, i have always though that an image of the blacksmith in the nexus in demons souls with his quote "i can tell you're not going to last long" would be useful in times like this.

I think the example the OP is talking about misplaced priorities when it comes to profanity, which is certainly debatable.

Don't think he's going for the "people offended by racism/sexism/homophobia should grow thicker skin hurr" type of anti-PC rants.

Also, political correctness has gone too far. One small incident happens and a million mothers dial the governor and media stations demanding apologies. Oh, but it is completely O.K to dress little girls in skanky outfits and make them walk on runways.

I am just getting frustrated at how there is a dozen different organizations dedicated to censoring things that might offend people. I demand an R rating for Prometheus D:<

This M.I.A incident at the super bowl is the most recent example. Dancers in panties are doing pelvic thrusts, but no one minds that. The moment she flips the camera, all hell breaks loose.

Isn't this a good thing? Especially for America.

I agree, OP.

There are an awful lot of hypersensitive people on GAF especially. It must be fun going through life finding something to be offended about at every turn.

I bet this thread hates Asians.

If I squint...you can't tell if I'm squinting.

I agree.

I agree OP. People make such a big deal about ´being offended´. Nobody ever died from being offended. Get the fuck over it and be glad you don´t have any real problems ffs.

This is GAF, a glorious utopia of ideals and tolerance. Don't like it? Well fuck you and everything you stand for. Hope you burn in hell.

seems like every day there is a news article about someone saying something that pisses off some group of people. *yawn*
