Cheers. Another question for you then. When you look at your PSN list from within the Vita does it show what PS3 games your friends are playing (I assume so)?

For some reason I am paranoid Sony will fuck up PSN integration and make it pointless.

Yes, this works the way you expect it to.

Correct me if I'm wrong.. Isn't that exactly like the PSPGO cable? Can I use the one I already have?

No, it's not the same cable :(

It appears that Amazon US caught their mistake and changed the ship dates for their Vita stuff back to next week. Yesterday, the games and memory cards were saying that they were "In Stock."

I managed to complain and get them to ship my 32gb stick yesterday (should receive it today), but they changed my Uncharted back to Release Date delivery (15th).

yep, my wipeout order went back to not yet shipped. but i called them about the memory card and hsg and it appears they are shipping. they had charged me for all three last night but they took back the money for wipeout. looks like everything but the system is now shipping out on 2/13. what a mess. as long as everything gets here by the 15th i'm good.

Hello from Amazon.ca.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience that may have caused you.

Due to some technical error this item has been listed in-stock at the time of placing the order. Once we've been alerted to such problems, of course we take steps to correct them as soon as possible.

Now the error has been corrected and it is now correctly listed in website. The actual release date of this item is February 22, 2012.

Please accept our sincere apologies if this is disappointing.

It was a sweet dream :P

Seeing as how Amazon UK have lowered the price of the Wi-Fi model by £5, is there any chance of them reducing my pre-order by the same amount?

Hey, I'm not a miser; it's the principle of it that matters!

Question: Does the Vita act like Mass Storage device when plugged into a computer? Can you drop videos and pictures into their directories...or do you the Content Manager?

You have to use Content Manager. You won't even touch anything from the computer side IIRC.

It does not show up as a mass storage device, you have to use the Content Manager Assistant to move files onto it.

Amazon changed my shipping status back too but the transactions are still pending on my card. They should just take it and ship them. everyone else seems to be selling the games and accessories.

From my experience of Amazon pre-orders they match the best price out there, so not only should you have the £5 back but they will also refund the difference if they find out it was offered cheaper elsewhere. At least that is the case for software.

So they pulled an iTunes? Damn. I guess I'll have to put the Content Managers on my laptops then, in addition to my desktop.

So there is a way to sign your ripped UMDs to work on official Sony Firmware, couldn't we just do that and add them to Vita...

Therefore getting around the non-UMD program?

Dunno if it's been brought up yet, but I just got home with a copy of Hot Shots Golf, and it has an Online Pass. Nerd Rage?

...game looks good by the way, uses AR and both touch screens.

That said, Id probably get the 3G model if I could buy it standalone for slightly less money. I want a 32GB card but both 3G bundles come with 4 or 8. I also hate having to sign up for 3G in order to get the free PSN game. At this point, Id literally be paying 50 dollars more JUST for the GPS in case a game I want might use it.

You can try this:
If anyone wants to go through a little effort, Lockerz has some really awesome deals on Vita stuff. 3G Launch bundle for $239, Hot Shots/Modnation/LittleDeviants for $21, 32GB Memory for $75, Uncharted for $35 etc.

http://shop.lockerz.com/electronics/playstation-vita.html

I've found that the best way to grind up points for the discounts is to watch "Behind The Seams" videos in the video section (and ignore/mute them while they play b/c theyre horrible) for 300 points and you can get points to apply quickly/easily.

I picked up HSG. Debating on a couple more...

---

Is Ridge Racer PS1 games available on the PSN to play on the Vita??? How do PS1 games look on the vita? WOuld I be better off getting the Vita Ridge Racer over the PS1 games? I am a huge RR fan :P

I was thinking about getting R4 off of PSN and playing via Remote Play for now but I'm not too sure about the latency. I may get the first PSP Ridge Racer instead.

Anyone have a clue of when Little King's Story will be out?

It's too bad for people who have their items' ship date changing, Lucky my 8gb card shipped yesterday :D, it seems that if you placed the order when the bug started you'd have a higher chance of it shipping.

No because to get them off your computer, you have to use the CMA which has to be the right firmware. Either one checks your download list to make sure you bought it through the store. And the games not on the store won't show up anyway.

Thanks dude, that's reassuring.

Well I was unable to get release-day delivery on the 3G bundle through Amazon, but did get the $3.99 fee for 1-day shipping waived.

Delivery estimate is the 24th. Really with I could have setup the release-day delivery, but the Amazon customer rep said that was just not an option.

don't worry, I would be surprised if one day shipping doesn't get it to you on release day as well

Amazon split my Vita stuff up into 4 orders last night! The Sony screen protectors are out for delivery today, the Cradle is listed as "Shipping Soon" in its own order, Uncharted and a 32GB memory card are in a separate "Shipping Soon" order, and the FEB is sitting by itself as "Not Yet Shipped". Goofy Amazon.

That's weird. Did they say why they removed the option?

Yeah, weird launch.

Don't know why people have a problem with this if they're buying new. Doesn't change the end product you bought.

Looks like the PSP compatibility is being updated daily. Jeanne d'Arc wasn't working for me yesterday but I gave it another shot today and bam. Wish I had more digital PSP games to test out but alas... I do not.

That seems like something you could easily manipulate since its all via the software on the pc.

Amazon is weird right now. I'd be more annoyed if it wasn't the fact that the system isn't out yet (unless you're in Canada).

I preordered Hot Shots Golf and Wipeout back in December. Yesterday people were saying they were starting to ship now but my status had not changed. So I decided to just switch my shipping address to my house in case it did ship early instead of the office. Well Hot Shots Golf let me, but halfway through the process of Wipeout, it errored out when I hit to confirm. Amazon won't let you attempt to change an address once it's shipping soon, so clearly I made it in before that change, but that status changed while I was changing it. So I assumed, I was good to go at least with everything shipping. On top of that I ordered new Vita stuff yesterday. Bottom line?

1) Hot Shots Shipped with the new address
2) Wipeout did not ship and is still stuck at shipping soon
3) The new order yesterday shipped as well.

What the hell Amazon? I can't change my shipping address and you still didn't ship it? So newer orders and change ship before long time preorders?

Because then it's tied to a limited access. Let's say my brother bought Hot Shots Golf and wants to loan it to me to play. I can't get online. Games before online passes wouldn't care.

We should the list of games that unofficially do work from PS3 to Vita transfer that aren't listed on the Playstation Blog into the OP as well.
Sure, I'll start one of those too.

Here is what I got so far. Have I missed anything?

  • Ape Escape on the Loose
  • Capcom Puzzle World
  • Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee
  • Jeanne d'Arc
  • Killzone Liberation
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Locoroco 2
  • Mercury Meltdown
  • Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
  • Persuit Force
  • Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
  • PQ: Practical Intelligence Quotient
  • Sonic Rivals
  • Sonic Rivals 2
  • Valkyria Chronicles II
+ the ones listed at the Playstation blog.

Was there any downloadable update between yesterday and today that would have changed compatibility? What happens when a game isn't compatible? Will it not load directly on the Vita? Can you even copy it to a Vita?

Still, that's how it is with PC games (you can't lend out Steam games) and that's what console makers are moving towards. At least you can still access the offline portion of games without a code which is better than PC serial numbers/drm.

Gahh, I keep flip flopping on whether or not to get the 3G version. On the one hand, I don't have a smartphone so 3G and GPS (Google maps especially) would be fantastic. On the other hand, I've heard the 3G coverage where I live is pretty terrible and I am endeavouring to get a smartphone soon.

Actually, typing it out makes it seem very clear, 3G version is a little unnecessary. Thanks Gaf!

Nope, no downloadable update. As for the second question, it won't even show up in Content Manager if it isn't compatible.

Still on the fence with the Vita. Would the 16GB be enough if I plan on downloading about half the games I buy? $100 seems pretty steep for the 32GB and I would have to import from the US as well.

Decisions....

I would say yes if you don't mind buying a cheaper 32gb card in a year or so. I'm getting an 8gb now with plans to get a bigger card when they inevitably drop in price. If it's anything like the PSP then the 8, 16 and 32gb cards will be nothing compared to what will be available soon.

I keep flip flopping on whether i'm going to go digital with my vita games or not.

I love the idea of not switching game cards.

I hear ya there. If you buy a DD game on SEN(PSN), and you delete it from your stick, back up drive, pretty much everywhere that game is stored, can you download it again withough having to pay a second time?

I've never bought digitally, and deleted the downloads.

I'm going digital for games I know I will want to keep, and carts for games that I will most likely want to sell at some point.

Yea, you can download them again at no charge.

Yeah, be aware how much the import charges would cost. It may be cheaper just to get two 16Gb sticks.

Well for now console games aren't PC games. They've had ease of access and isolation for the longest time so changing it for the worse is going to make people unhappy. That's why people hate the online pass. It's a reasonable hate.

Do you buy a lot of games? If not, you're probably good, if you do, you're going to have to switch memory cards or data manage. I'll take future proofing with physical versions over digital versions though.
