Wait for Lumines and Fifa is going to be long ....

(plays Gravity Daze)

If it is has anyone tried it with the second stick?

i tried Medal Of Honor 2 (i think!) on the Japanese Vita with second stick and it works as expected.

Everyday Shooter and Super Star Dust worked better though.

My guess is it's account based which DOES make sense. You're technically getting a DLC code, and that DLC isn't going to be on the American store, or it'll be under a different name/slightly different. For the sake of compatibility and whatnot they have to activate in the proper store.

Eugh. Makes Sony's "region free" claim a little dubious. I'll just stick to US releases for online, titles then. Thanks.

Yep, just picked that up today as well. I'm wondering if I'll be using tweezers to insert the card.
It's probably enough reason to at least get a 16 GB. Sure, I COULD get an 8 GB then another 8 GB and it'd cost the same, or less due to sales, but I never liked swapping on the PSP (it's what killed my interest in playing when I was attempting to juggle music/game cards), and it's going to be even worse with MicroSD-sized cards.

When they said region free I think they meant more for physical copies anyways.
Yeah, it's more region free with a bunch of annoying conditions, but it's better than the 3DS in that regard by far. 360's a mixed bag, I don't think issues like that would've cropped up on that, BUT you also would probably be completely barred at publisher whims, and more often than not the only region with enough unique games to merit importing from (to the US anyway) is Japan... and they almost always region lock.

Well, if the code it comes with when you buy in a store won't work on a different region, you're getting a crippled version of the game, really. I can understand why they have done it this way, but it does mean if I buy a game in a store here I can't play it online. Or something. Not a huge issue cos I'm getting most,if not all, from the US PSN to save $$$. If I do pick up anything here it'll just be single player stuff.

Oh well, still loving it :p

Things that need to be resolved :

It took me 15 minutes to guess how to set up the PSV. First of all, you need to enter a PSN account, then it says you need to update the system first, but you can't since you are setting up your system...

The download list goes back to the start when you download a game, that means for someone who has hundreds of downloads, it's a pain in the ass, especially when the PS3 games are on the list when they shouldn't be.

Uncharted and Wipeout are on their way to me and I has my mammry car!

I just realized that thanks to Lockerz I'm getting the 3G/WiFi bundle and Uncharted: Golden Abyss + free USPS First Class shipping for only $294.23. Crazy. Thank you onlyindreams!

It was a sweet dream :P

When Thursday came around at around noon I mailed there customer service. I told them that I wanted my Wifi Vita that I had been charged for already shipped out post haste since I ordered Express shipping, I then provided them a link to Sears.ca which had the wifi Vita in stock. I told them that I should have ordered from them since theyd have shipped my unit by now. an hour later my Vita was shipped

When you say "as expected" does it still respond in a very digital manner? That is, the camera only begins to move when you pass a certain threshold on the stick with no variation in movement speed.

Vita's region free exactly the same way PSP and PS3 games were. If they have an Online Code you'll need to use a PSN account of the game's region for it to work.

I can't believe Sony still hasn't worded this step differently. Didn't they hear enough complaints from the JP Vita users regarding this?

I don't think the PS3 users can "see" Vita users at the moment. I don't understand why because the other way around works perfectly fine. (Vita users can see PS3 users)
Hopefully a future upgrade fixes this.

I read an article on this a few days back, and you are correct. It's one of the weird things they need to work out just like not being able to see Vita trophies on a PS3.

If I'm understanding this Near thing, there are two people around me who also have Vitas and are playing Welcome Park. I have addresses show up on this. That's not their addresses is it? Because that would be a major privacy issue for me.

Spoke to my Gamestop manager/friend who I used to work with. She indeed does have the FEB units as of this afternoon. I completely understand her not selling them until next week. Still, they're in there. Probably sitting in the bathroom waiting for release.

take this with a grain of sale but when i asked the GS employee what game the free PSN one is he said the 299 version will be little deviants or escape plan and the 350 one escape plan or something else

I'd really like to hear impressions for some of the "lesser" games--in specific Army Corps of Hell, Escape Plan, Little Deviants, StarDrone, and Mutant Blobs Attack.

I played Little Deviants for a short while at a nearby Best Buy, and it seemed like an incredibly solid, fun title that showcases all of the Vita's various control methods; alas, it was also immediately clear that it should be a $10 PSN title, as it looks like a game that could be completed in an hour or so (unless you're worried about tearing up the leaderboards). Oh, and the game was damned pretty.

Also, video camera seemed a lot clearer than what preview comments were stating. Anyone else noticing this?

You can disable that, or change how it works. As fascinating as it would be to know who near by is playing the system I'd probably set it to only work while I'm out of home.

Funny thing is that Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Coded Arms, Resistance Retribution, and many PSP shooters have configurations that use the slider to aim and the face buttons to move (Turok style).

Ideally the Vita would let you reconfigure the PSP controls however you'd like. Personally, I'd give up analog movement for analog aiming. Bind the left stick to right stick, and then the face buttons to the left stick, and games would feel fine. But can't complain with what's there; remapping the right stick is a nice feature.

Actually, wasn't Resistance Retribution shown off with dual analog controls on the vita? I know you could play with true dual analog (and rumble) through that Resistance 2 feature. Maybe what was actually shown on the vita was simply remapping the face buttons to the right stick.

Plus games that are insane and let you use the D-pad for movement and analog for camera would be close enough, I imagine. At least you can use both thumbs for that rather than needing to juggle or something crazier.

I have Shattered Memories for PSP downloaded to my PS3.

Based off that, if there's a noticeable improvement in visuals and playability over the regular PSP, I'll decide whether to expand my PSP library.

Though I'll probably be buying Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Monster Hunter by default.

I've always wondered about Shattered Memories for PSP. How do the graphics fare compared to the Wii version?

I'll try to find out where. I can set Private Zones or whatever, but don't know how to disable it.

I don't like the Content Manager.
You have to do it from the Vita, which isn't organized like how stuff is on your computer.
Trying to find and choose specific things to copy over takes way longer than it should.

Can you tell us the exact steps you had to take in order to make it through the convoluted setup process?

Not sure if this is a dumb question or has already been discussed in the 5000+ posts in this thread, but has there been any talk of setting up a list of people's PSN/SEN user names so we can add some fellow Vita owners to our friends lists?

My local GameStop guy confirmed that they have Vitas in the backroom. They received the units today.

After pestering them for a while, they said I could get my unit if I break into their storeroom without their help. -_-

The HSG thread is doing a list of people for that game. I'd imagine other games will end up doing the same. Not sure about in general though.

You should totally do it. They gave you permission.

I'm gonna say that the PSP version is a valiant effort, and the lighting system used still manages to impress. But it terms of lower-fidelity games that make you say "Wow", I'd say the Wii version has a distinctly higher visual appeal.

Anyone else unable to add a credit card to their playstation network account using the Vita ? I keep getting an error saying that my info is invalid. :\

I don't know if anyone has said this before but you can keep your music player in the background while playing games.

So it's like um... whatever that feature is called on the 360 and some PS3 games. You can play your own music while playing games.
I love it.

Yeah it's been known about for a while

As someone posted earlier as well, it does feel incredibly "legit" and awesome to know that you've got the thing paid for and it's coming next week (FEB). I just put my pre-order in on Wednesday too so it makes me sigh in relief as I would have been disappointed if I couldn't get in on this next week.
