So what game will you guys play first?
I've put a lot of time into Golden Abyss over the weekend. Just finished off Chapter 9 and I've been trophy/bounty farming as I go. I've dabbled a bit with Hot Shots and Wipeout but those will be more long-term investments so I'm saving those for later.

Will probably try out some of tomorrow's new titles once they hit the PlayStation Store on SEN. Mainly looking forward to Rayman Origins and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND as of right now.

Ah, glad that's not the case. I still think an Uncharted game on a handheld seems like an odd fit.
Uncharted plays fine. Gyro aiming during gunfights is a revelation for me. I actually feel like I'm aiming a gun instead of being hamstrung by controls and auto-lock systems and I'm having a blast with it. The only part I really hate is the stupid log/beam balancing nonsense.

Yup.

I'm not even sure what people think are Sony's killer apps. Killzone? Gran Turismo? Uncharted is up there with those titles. I think an Uncharted sequel that has multiple locations would be considered a killer app.

For me MLB 12 and Uncharted are killer apps. *shrugs*

Not enough doom and gloom in your post.

Accurate though.

God of War, Gran Turismo (worldwide), and Uncharted are pretty much Sony's "killer aps" IMO. Problem is, I'm kinda Uncharted out at this point

I'd add God of War to that list. inFamous too. Both of those franchises could make fantastic Vita games.

GA is releasing a bit too close to Uncharted 3. A lot of us even pointed that out when it was announced.

Right on both. Maybe they should have delayed Golden Abyss to space it out from Uncharted 3.

Yeah, I can't believe that put that in there. So stupid.

If I had to guess, I'd put it at 1 to 1.5 years from now, likely after a price drop on the system, assuming there ever is a killer app.

Does the 3DS really even have a killer app yet? Is Super Mario 3DLand it?

Mario Kart 7 and SM3DLand, and MH3G are the holy triumvirate in Japan.

The first two are big sellers.

What? Capcom didn't include Shuma-Gorath/Jill in U Marvel VC Capcom 3 Vita? They're still DLC?

Uncharted looks pretty good. It has 34 chapters. Is it really as long as the console versions?

Memory Card 32GB from US for a European customer

I try again.
As you may know, here in Europe, we're not receiving 32GB memory card. Amazon.com doesn't sell this particular item to PAL customer. Is there a way to buy it anyway, possibly not paying it +20%?

Some people suggested me PlanetAxel but it seems that shipping that memory is taking forever. :(

Any alternative?
Thanks!

Have you tried Resident Evil Revelaitons (sic)? I tried gyro aiming in there and thought it didn't feel right. I'm curious how it compares if you've tried it on there as well.

Sony's always been weird like that. They relied heavily on 3rd parties for the killer apps and they were the ones in charge of filling out the platforms lineup. They've really struggled to internally develop those killer apps. I think Gran Turismo and God of War are their two biggest names, and they probably should have had somethign God of War-related for launch if they were smart. Gran Turismo though, not sure how much that translates to portable after th abysmal entry for GT PSP.

I wish Logitech would make a Vita case similar to the Playgear Pocket case they made for the original PSP, it was a great case.

The battery life results given from giant bomb and gizmodo go against the stress test that Digital Foundry performed a month ago.

Average Battery Life: Four hours, 10 minutes (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth enabled, brightness and sound at 50 per cent, several games tested)

Worst Case Scenario: Three hours, 40 minutes (all wireless functions active, brightness and audio at max, playing Uncharted: Golden Abyss)

Best Case Scenario: Four hours, 50 minutes (wireless off, brightness and audio at minimum, several games tested)

Uncharted Endurance Test: Four hours, 40 minutes (wireless off, brightness and audio at minimum, only playing Uncharted: Golden Abyss)

Not sure who to believe.

Thats as far as I made it through demo and said this is retarded....admittingly im not a Uncharted fan though so thats all i needed.

Didn't they initially say that you could get away with not using the touchpad at all in Uncharted and that every PSV experience would be the same. You would have the choice.

I actually have tried Revelations and would imagine it works similarly there. Unfortunately, I haven't messed around with gyro aiming as I've been relying on my circle pad purchase. I would imagine it would work similarly although the 3DS seems like it would be somewhat more unwieldy compared to the Vita. I should make a point of comparing both experiences.

It's likely more expensive, but you can order it from VideoGamesPlus.ca.

Not sure who to believe.

It seems every other site and multiple people here on GAF (myself included) can vouch for 4+ hours battery life. It's just those few outliers who are saying 3.

Even if I didn't have a Vita to test it myself, I know who I'd believe.

I had that! It was good as a case but got a little too inconvenient for my liking, I would much prefer a good slipcase.

When can we even expect a GT for Vita at this point. GT PSP was shown before PSP's launch at that took years to come out. I'm not even going to think about the awesomeness of Gran Turismo on Vita. I don't want to get my hopes up for something that is four years away.

dunno....i made it to that qte and shit started flashing on screen for swipes.....i swiped then called over social club dude to change game.

buy the 16gb for now, down the line i'm sure they will release the 32gb on pal territories and will be much cheaper..

The battery life on the Vita compared to the 3DS is like night and day. There's no comparison in my books. I feel like the Vita delivers roughly 50% more juice during actual gameplay and probably more than that when it's idle and just handling OS tasks.

So giant bomb and gizmodo are just sloppy with their testing?

You know, watching Giant Bomb's vita stream, I'd believe that to be the case.

I don't know what is up with Giant Bomb. They seem to be so negative lately. Don't get me wrong, a critical eye is important and something we need more of in the industry, but GB just seems to shit on everything these days. I'm not surprised they would state the worst case scenario for the Vita battery life instead of doing some proper testing. Maybe that's best left to the guys on Tested.com.

As for Gizmodo. They might want to give it another go. There are just too many people coming back with different numbers.

I'm not watching the GB stream since I'm at work, but from what I understand, Jeff just made the comment. I don't think he did thorough tests?

I don't know about Gizmodo. It's possible they were just doing something weird or had a "bad battery" or something.

Giantbomb stream is a snorefest. Instead of showing lesser-known titles like Rayman and Lumines, they show GA and Wipeout, games that everyone saw at least 10 times already. They played GA for 20 minutes ffs, where all it needs is 5 minutes. It's a damn uncharted, how different can it be!?

This guy on giantbomb is cracking me up.

He almost has this "I have a Vita. Yeah, I'm downplaying it, but I'm the envy of almost everyone!" demeanor.

Uncharted looks amazing on the Vita. I don't get the complaints this guy is making about the game aside from the touch screen stuff, which QTE never bothered me. The graphics are already better than anything on a handheld and the set piece with the burning building certainly looked impressive to me.

Just because they "could" make an Uncharted on Vita doesn't necessarily mean they should. Call me crazy, but I think they should have went with a Uncharted inspired Shadow Complex/Metroidvania game

People have a "Shipping Soon" status from where? My Amazon.com FEB order still says, "Wait Longer".. or was that "Not Shipped Yet", one of the two.

Has anyone ordered the Nyko Power Grip of their website. It's $25 gives "3 times" the battery life but there's only one picture and I have a feeling it's huge. Would like impressions or pictures from anyone if they have it

Are they domestic flights? Last few international flights I've taken there has been a USB plug on the back of the seats in from of you (where you watch the moves and such). I tested it with my PSP Slim and it supplied power for me. You know the Vita comes with a USB lead eh?

Mix of both domestic and international, and the flights I've been on internationally have varied greatly in what was available in terms of plugins. But when you're traveling sometimes for 30+ hours, anything that can help you extend your battery life is a good thing. :)
