This is completely different. Lin is American. He's emotional, cocky and he talks about Jesus all the time. He's much more marketable than Yao.

Lin is definitely getting extra attention because he's Asian. And by that, I mean, if it was a black guy going off in the same way, he'd get basketball attention and credit for sure, but that guy is not going to pull a new demographic in. Jeremy Lin did.

it isn't bad and I agree it doesn't happen with only asians, guys who overcome odds to hoop well get a lot of hype and get noticed no matter what. I would argue that the Lin attention is actually due more to where he's playing, and not his race. but his race is definitely drawing a new demographic closer to the game and is also an added dimension in the story, simply because he's the first asian american to do it

If he could be on a team where shooters and/or stretch forwards could clear the lane so he could just attack endlessly or kick to waiting snipers when he collapsed the paint, he'd be better off.
