How are you feeling about the Vita these days, btk? Enjoying it?

i haven't played it too much since saturday because i have a very busy schedule this week, but i've squeezed in time here and there. i've been mostly just playing wipeout (also own modnation and stardust). my busy week ends early on thursday though and i will be going on vacation for a week. hot shots and uncharted will have delivered by then so i will have plenty to play on the plane.

the initial OMGOMGOMGOMG stage has passed, but i gotta say (and i am completely bias because i typically love sony's hardware) i am still super stoked with this device. i turned on my 3ds tonight and it's not even comparable for me. i got my 3ds a week ago, so it's still really new to me as well, but it didn't floor me like playing wipeout and stardust on the vita did. i can't wait to try more games and to play through the psp games i haven't finished. it just seems like sony really nailed it with this thing, aside from the super-expensive accessories.

with that said, i'm not trying to dismiss the 3ds as it is awesome too. it just didn't feel as fresh and exciting to me. however, i will likely put more time into pokemon 3ds than any vita game lol. i'm kind of nuts for pokemon.

That one was the very hard took me i think 1-2 weeks of searching to find since its the best Hori offers. Got it from this site but it sells out super quick (http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/de...t?s_cate3=9730$pagemax=100$getcnt=0$pagecnt=1). I remember someone from Hong Kong selling some on ebay but can't trust that.

It's only for the actual screen? I thought it would be for the entire front face, like the glossy / matte ones.

Yeah, avoid the eBay ones; they're cheap knockoffs (although they include a full front face one AND a rear touchpad protector; that's the only reason I got one). As far as I know, there are no official, good quality rear touch pad protectors from Hori, correct? Wish there were...

Yeah, that insane excitement phase never lasts long no matter how cool the device is, but it's nice to hear that you're still liking it. I just got my 3DS very recently too and am really liking it, but having played the Vita at Gamestop and getting the FEB on Wednesday, I can already tell the 3DS is going to feel like a step down, lol. I never got enough time with the Vita to really know how good the analog sticks are, but which would you say is better between the vita's sticks and the 3ds circle pad in your personal preference? I was surprised at how much I liked circle pad. It works really well, but the Vita sticks seemed like they would be really nice once you get used to them.

I'm gonna drop by Fry's tomorrow to see if they have the FEB. If they do, I'm plunking down the munnies for it. If not it's cool, I want to pick up a few things anyway.

when i got the 3ds, i was surprised to find that the circle pad worked so well. i won't ever bitch and whine about it like i did with the dsi d-pad or the psp nub. i personally find the vita analog sticks to be a lot better though.

It is for screen only, don't know if it comes with a back piece never opened. I can't read japanese but what I've gathered it has similar to high grade material even aircraft in it and makes it a lot more playable outside in sunlight. Not looking for a full body wrap from them going to the same thing I did with my PSP: Hori Screen Protector + ZAGG Invisible Shield Full Body + Hori Protection Frame.

Yeah the circle pad is leaps and bounds better than the PSP nub, which I really disliked. I'm glad to hear that the Vita sticks are so nice, though!

Reminds me of that Skinomi Amazon review.

Did anyone else put their Online Pass codes into their PS3? I figured I'd just do it now since my Vita is being delivered to my job.

Wipeout's online pass code went in fine, it attempted to download a 100kb file, and it shows up on my Downloads List. I entered Hot Shots Golf and it went through, but it didn't try to download anything and it isn't showing up in my download history. It won't let me re-enter it either. I hope I didn't just screw up my HSG code.

Yeah that one reminded me of a company employee response lol. But any skin from ZAGG/Skinomi/BodyGuardz/Phantom Skin/Ghost Armor/etc are very similar but none from what I've seen and had offered better play in sunlight. First one from Hori that uses higher material then others and has that feature that I read about.

How does everyone feel about fighting games on Vita? I want to get BlazBlue, but I'm worried about the wear and tear playing that kind of game could do on the buttons and d-pad.

Well games like Tekken played like a dream on the psp so I don't see how it won't be the same with the psv. The new analog should help as well. I am VERY excited about portable figthters

I recall reading earlier in this thread that it is not the vita firmware which is going to be upgraded to support non compatible PSN games (PS1 put aside, that will require an upgrade) - it is the game themselves? And that in some cases, the games are 'improved'? (like GT running at 60fps).

Is that correct?

If it is, maybe we should start a list of those upgraded games. I have all my psn games on my ps3 (in case they magically get pulled from psn - i know supposedly they should remain on your download list, but...), and i don't want to redownload them all.. :/

Toys R Us it is then, just like the 3DS launch.

Looks like this is roughly what the pricing will be:

$29.99 - 33% off
$39.99 - 25% off
$49.99 - 40% off

Will they give you a $20 GC for buying Uncharted?
I don't know, sale isn't good enough for me. Don't want to pay full price on at least two items, to have to use a $20gc later.
3DS sale was a bit better percentage wise. I'll wait.

This is a really big/good question if anyone can answer awesome.

If I get the 250MB vs the 3GB of data what can I do with that data.

Will 3GB last me all month if i just leave it on not playing any games doing nothing only thing running is like my friends and psn network on just 3G.

Has anyone tested this while in japan since of course it is the only area that it has been on data for over a month.

I will spend the 30 bucks i dont care money to me is not a problem to an extent. I just wanna know will 3GB last me not doing heavy data pushing.

I don't see you'd ever get close to using even 1gb as there's no video or audio streaming apps available.
Just being on PSN and transmitting high scores now and then is likely nothing.

I would have probably gotten this if hadn't been of the non-compatibility of PS1 games. I recently bought Castlevania: SotN, Chrono Cross, and Metal Gear Solid from PSN and I was hoping to play them on the bus.

Guess I'll just grab a cheap PSP then.

doesnt he mean Peace Walker PSP? we have even seen those japanese Peace Walker PSP pics on Vita where the camera is mapped to the right analog on Vita...

It's matter of software emulation that'll be patched in later.

And that in some cases, the games are 'improved'? (like GT running at 60fps).

i hadn't heard this prior so i just ran to the loo (at work) to check out Wipeout Pulse.

And... it might be true ? I seem to recall that Pulse on CFW overclocked ran at a higher frame rate but had a lot of screen syncing issues and i -think- i see the same thing. It certainly seemed smoother than i recall and i saw more syncing issues. Guess i can try running both side by side if i get a spare moment at home.

Interesting, but not confirmed yet.

Oh wait - i think i have GT PSP on there too....

... back to the bog! hold on

I was playing wipeout pulse on my PSP Go earlier yesterday and it had those same issues. Maybe it's just off a digital download instead of UMD?

It'd be nice if Outrun 2 worked as well as it does on CFW (I haven't checked but if Outrun 2 isn't on PSN...shit)

well, i'd heard something about frames being duplicated or something in the emu and it looking smoother.

Just tried GT and it looks a little smoother but nothing earthshatteringly different - it's also an age since i played these games so i really would have to run them side by side.
