They should start doing that with all PSN games and DLC that are Vita compatible.

I think this is one of the main reasons

There were some talks about Android rendering on the main thread, causing the UI visuals to lag/stutter when the system is busy. So far Vita OS is very responsive and sensitive, like an iOS device. The text edit box event handling needs some more tweaks and polishing, but the auto-completion works better than iOS. The hit detection needs some finetuning when the web browser is zoomed out (i.e. small text/link). But the experience is rather pleasant and usable.
It may need some shortcut gestures though. If Sony continue to refine this, they can surprise a lot of people.

Or will it be a DLC pack that just lets you play all those maps outside of cross-play?
Good to know about Marvel as well; I didn't want to buy it yet if I was going to have to repurchase all the DLC. Looking forward to the full costume pack this spring.

Ya, Vita could have a slow start, but word of mouth could really help it. Almost everyone, who sees it in action, likes it.
I would buy a vita, but it depends on you.
Aye, but, while I haven't been posting here for long, it seems that most members (Atleast in the Gaming part of the forum.) here are actually very level headed, or reasonable. Especially when compared to most other forums I've been a member of.
Plus, I want both systems almost equally as much, so I just thought I'd ask for some input. And I appreciate it!

And that's why I said if the Vita fails in the West as it is in Japan, I think a big part of that could be a result of pushing the device towards a tiny segment of the gaming audience that wants a console experience on a handheld. I'm the rare example of someone that has no interest in console games on a handheld, but am still buying the Vita (lumines). The point being if the Vita fails it may not necessarily be the iPad's fault.

And you can see it now! Easy to develope for... and the OS looks super smooth.

With these news of free DLC and the reduced load times announced yesterday, I might actually pick up Wipeout.

I noticed it last night but only as the system was booting up or launching a game. I was playing in pitch blackness too, which I don't want to do too often anyways because I prefer some light.
During gameplay or even when games use deep blacks, it's completely unnoticeable.
And I guess US blog confirms that HD/Fury will be DLC packs, but that's still awesome. Hopefully by then we have a proper Racebox...I wonder if they'll bring the 2048 tracks to the PS3 version.

I can't get my vita screen to come on. Everything was great last night. I plugged it in to charge overnight and now this morning when I try turning it on, the screen will not come on. The home button flashes blue and then nothing happens.
I thought maybe I had the charger in the wrong way and the battery but I plugged it my Vita in this morning and still the screen won't come on.
Help!

Are you talking about the 1.01 patch or did they further comment on the issue? The 1.01 patch doesn't seem to have improved loading that much.
Add folders (or something like it), an HTML5 compliant browser, make trophy syncing less stupid, and fix that weird disabling of the network issues and I think they will have a perfect closed game system on their hands. You get that network issue when enabling the gyro in Hot Shots, or playing Uncharted. If it's an issue with saving battery life then at least don't do it while I'm plugged in. If you let devs do it to make games run at all then you are fucking idiots.

My Nokia Lumia 800 has an OLED screen and it does have this issue, but no one but crazy people like myself notice it. They implemented something like "Clear Black" technology or something, it's awesome.

same exact problem for me, called my bank and also called Sony, the rep didn't even know much about how the menus on vita worked. All i did was purchased Monster hunter and after that can't buy anything else. Also i went ahead and bough a PSN card from Gamestop.com and got emailed code and this works just fine adding funds that way just takes an hour or so to get code.

Need to hard reset. Read somewhere that you need to hold down power button for 20 seconds or so to fix this.

So how does that work? Are Wipeout HD and Fury for Vita DLC packs, or separate releases?
Try Holding the OFF button pressed for 20 seconds.. that should fix it.

Is Wipeout Fury coming to the Vita as a stand-alone purchase as well? I'd much rather have that than 2048. Or is it simply DLC for 2048 (hopefully using the PS3 version's framerate).

Are the dark scenes really THAT good if you compare it to a good old CRT and a 5090 Kuro? I really want to know this.

I actually really like the case that came with the FEB. I was worried it would be too bulky but it holds the system perfectly, gives you spots to put games, and then of course the top of it is where you'd put the power cable. I like for the Vita that its hard to protect the screen and the sticks from any possible damage.
Granted it can't fit in your pocket at all that way, but we live in an Indiana Jones adventure satchel world these days, right?

The Kuro actually comes shockingly close to matching OLED at times. If you use a bit of lighting behind the TV (very dim lighting even) it looks totally dark, but if you cut the lights completely you can see it glow. That's hardly the case with the OLED which appears almost completely black. I'm using the second gen Kuro (5020fd) which was darker than the first gen Kuro (which I also owned previously).
CRTs are similarly dark but suffer from a bit of blooming when bright objects appear on screen.
It's very good. In the dark, the screen fades into the bezel. Also, the OLED is extremely fast. Not quite as fast as a CRT, but it actually handles motion better than ALL LCDs and plasmas that I've used.
Let's just say that, when a large OLED TV hits the market, I may finally have a reason to upgrade from the Kuro. It's that good.
Yes, I do hate LCDs (despite owning several of them for various purposes).
It does improve things a bit but it's still slow. I think that's just how the game is going to be, unfortunately. Still worth playing regardless.
Hum if I have the retail game I can't download it for free right?
