Winter 2012 Anime Thread 2.22: You Can (Not) Outpost Cajunator

Seems like Okadabot does a good enough job with adaptations. Just don't stick her on anything original.

Well then again, people liked HanaIro, but eh, whatever.

This is why I'm on the Tsuritama train. Too many people riding the Apollon one. When it derails, it will be horrible.

- Stylish direction from Watanabe
- Jazz music from Yoko Kanno
- Award-winning josei manga

For Sakamichi no Apollon to be a trainwreck, it would have to be one of the greatest disasters anime has ever witnessed.

Apollon and Tsuritama will be the last push of good noitaminA before it turns into a timeslot dedicated to an endless amount of even shittier Guilty Crown and BRS knock-off's.

What a pessimist.

You're not but you're keeping company with my Grandpa who has an HDTV and has no idea that just plugging in composite cables won't give you HD picture.

Old people are experienced, your Grandpa could teach you a thing or two.

Ask him what he thinks of AnoHana sometime.

I certainly hope there aren't more people like you.

I've been changing the aspect ratio back (temporarily) to take screenshots for GAF lately and this is the thanks I get? D:

If it's any consolation, I used to de-widen wide headed Madoka in an avatar.

You could land a plane on that head.

Anyway, it's only a problem for anime not native 16:9. I don't know how many of the anime I've watched this last few years that includes, but it's bound to be a majority.

Guilty Crown -18

For a guy that just lost his arm not even 24 hours ago, he's doing surprisingly fine. I also like how Inori has a personality now. Only took 18 episodes. I just want this series to end already.

Doujin Crown 18:

Really, at this point there's nothing left to say about this show except:

loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

Every week posts like these tempt to me to get into the show, but every week I resist.

Why would that even tempt you, the show is just plain bad, I can only imagine that these people saying "lol" are just laughing at themselves for continuing it. :(

i hate to admit it but i currently got $20 running on whether or not guilty crowns ends up with a shitty reset ending. it fucking better or i'm gonna be mad as hell.

You're lucky that the main writer was also the main writer of
Mai-Hime.

Amagami SS+ - 08

How sweet, now to endure Sae for the next 2 episodes hoooraaay. -_-

In the previous thread Thoraxes mentioned the one scenario in which Sae's SS+ arc could turn out amazing. Maybe he'll be so kind as to lay out the gory details again if he sees this.

Even in the context of Guilty Crown as an abject failure it is nowhere near charming enough to leave any impression that isn't empty regret.

Steins;Gate 25

Because some things are more important.

Fluff episode, but I was glad to see people again. Maybe I'm just a sap like that.

Two things:

Is it really that hard to find someone who knows how to pronounce English words to play native English-speaking characters? Even Penguindrum managed that much.

And, thanks to the law of conservation of characters, it seems like the taxi driver is the same guy who Okabe met in that Akihabara alley. And he's the only taxi driver in LA.

Speaking of which, this is some crazy bizarro universe LA. I don't know how I feel about it being represented this way, as this weird mix of Japan and some fascist police state where you can't make exaggerated gestures on the street while speaking a foreign language.

Didn't notice that while watching.

Why can't you just watch stuff the right way?

That and just laughing at how a show that started off with some promise has spun for far out of control. Jex, you're better off not watching. I only continue because I'm already so far in.

Just watched the OVA this morning and I found it awesome. Then again I'm a massive Steins;Gate fan. The games, the anime, the merchandise. Give it all to me. Can't wait for the movie.

It's not really the law of conservation of characters, it's more an easter egg showing that in this world line the pin badge mister never goes to Japan and becomes a Taxi driver in LA. The whole thing about Okabe being arrested is first time he says he's come to conquer and second time it was for comedic purposes.

The maid cafe is there in LA as Feyris sets one up for the time when she's in LA for the tournament she's going to (the rai-net battle one which is why they all get to go in the first place) . I really don't get what you mean about the native speaker stuff though.

Guilty Crown 18

So this show actually ends at 22? Welp they immediately dealt with the trashy side characters and lol at that nonsense his mom was spouting. Well
I just hope that crocodile army officer that I forgot his name and Gai's strategist actually get to the bottom of this and at least, try in vain to actually get an explanation for everything that happened and will soon happen like why Gai is now Sephiroth and have at you.

Don't get me wrong. I liked the episode. Just nitpicking at stuff.

I'm talking about the way that, say, the guy at customs at the airport says "What's the purpose?" or the way the weather girl on the TV talks. It's a pretty thick Japanese accent, not that far from how Okabe sounds in English. It'd mean nothing to their audience, so it's not surprising that they don't care, but it's weird from my perspective.

In Penguindrum, their VA clearly has no idea what he's doing, but at least his accent is right.

Guilty Crown

I dropped it after episode 12:
Gai's death scene was so damn hilarious. I think it is the only time I've unintentionally laughed out loud due to something be so terrible.

So you're confused as to why people still watch Guilty Crown, and yet you're still watching BRS? hmmmm....

Well, there's been 18 episodes for you all to drop the show. Thankfully I got it over with after the first episode.

I've still yet to check out BRS, though. What shall I do D:
