Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 confirmed for Nintendo DS

7 years? That seems kinda long.

I thought I remembered Cynthia in BW talking like she didn't experience DPPt yet... guess I'm just confused, sorry.

i don't think there is an official number for how long after dppt/hgss that bw are, but it's quite a few years.

English PR already? Really good chance they'll come this year then.

With release in June they are sure to come by the Holiday season in the US/EU.
On a completely another note... new Pokemon games during the holiday season... oh my...

PS. BW2 logos are what intrigues me. What is the reasoning behind the Red/Blue colors? Is there any connection to RS?

I'm certain there'll be new locations to some degree. Completely going back to Hoenn, in addition to Unova, would be a lot of work for a project as small and easy as this, so a new adjunct region above Unova makes a lot of sense. Close to the East Coast design references used for Unova, while pulling a reverse-Gen 2 with a smaller second region and a revamped first region.

So did Pokemon take Dragon Quest's place as the officially laziest franchise in Japanese gaming?

I remember we had discussions about whether Diamond and Pearl will be in 3D. Heh, not even close...

Explain the logos, then.

7 Years is based on one of the Unova elite four being one of the Gen IV Frontier Brains (sort of), except much older looking.

Lazy is a bad thing now? For Pokemon, lazy is perfectly fine, and you don't need to have major, enormous changes to the formula for each game. Smaller, more subtle additions and changes are fine for most fans anyway.

Definitely. There were far too many sequel hooks for this no to be the case.
New? There's a good chance it doesn't take place in Unova (Maybe Hoenn?) But they're not going to introduce a new setting.

Definitely if it takes place somewhere else.
Now truly new pokémon since this is still Gen V. There'll be a bunch of new forms though.

Dream World is likely here to stay, and will probably get more features when BW2 come out.

I think if they're going to call it 2 then they have to have a new map. Maybe it's just the other half of Unova. Maybe like someone suggested, LA themed instead of NY.

It's better this way, the single slightly updated single version was never great anyway.

Hoenn with an updated engine sounds good, I hope that's true.

This doesn't even make sense. It's not like they can't use 3D models (they use them in the console versions) and the games are packed with tons of stuff.

I'm not really interested in a "Gray" version but Crystal, Emerald and Platinum are awesome.

this is as grey as you will get.
Why you say that man.

Think about it. There are so many people waiting to buy the "definitive" version because they don't wanna buy something that's missing Pokemon with another version. And so many people who buy the definitive version, despite buying the originals, just because it's definitive.

Hot damn a new Pokemon, and a first with a sequel number instead of colour, will be interesting to see what they do, I would totally take a sequel of Gold/Silver calibre with multiple main areas, but maybe that is asking too much at this point.

And a quick question, I never got very far on Pokemon White and wanted to get into it again but start again, which means I assume like previous games that the Liberty Pass I got from the event when the game first released would be lost starting a new game and isn't just saved across into new games?

Guys what happens with all those trainers that beat the elite 4? Do they just get killed and there history erased, since there is no mention of them in other games except for Ash?

I really want a good Dream World. Best idea ever just ruined by incompetents.
How does that work?

ps. i wanted grey simply because i skipped BW (they came out near the 3DS launch).
First time i do this and guess what, first time we don't get a "third game".
Not a classic "third game", at least.

If this is a direct sequel how does it work, you have the same MC and can transfer your data from BW? doesn't make sense for a Pokémon game, right?

The NICE thing about this is that we don't get a "third version" on the 3DS, some kind of porting like that Shin Megami Tensei 3DS game would've been ridicolous -- it's better to just wait for a 100% new generation of Pokémon on the 3DS, just like DPP on the DS.

Perhaps this will give Nintendo an incentive to upgrade the DS emulation on the 3DS? I popped in my copy of White and it didn't look so hot. :\

As much as I want to believe that that Logo represents Ruby and Sapphire, I just see it as a representation of Fire/Electricity, two of the types of these new forms. Then again, you never know, this is the first time a new version of a game has had a "2" plastered on the front.... there's got to be a big reason for this, right?

DS? The DS will never die? I think they're trying to tell me I don't need a 3DS.
Mh, what I think they're trying to tell you is

"Wait, you want releases of Fire Emblem 2, Ace Attorney Investigations 2 and tons of other games? LOL, get some new Pokémon games instead, we have this Nobunaga shit and some direct sequels; the DS is now the Nintendo Pokémon! for other games, get a 3DS!"

What if you play as N as he battles through the Hoenn league searching for the meaning of Pokemon and then after you become champion you have to go back to Unova to stop the BW player character who has gone mad with power after being corrupted by the opposite dragon.

So much speculation.

As much as I hate to say it, n the end this is just going to be Gray with a fancy new title, and split into two versions so they could make more money.

Look at the logos. You can't explain that shit.
But it's so easy. :P

They look like rubies and sapphires at first, but it seems to really just be ice (as in Kyurem, the Ice/Dragon Pokemon). The one's blue because of Zekrom + Kyurem (Electricity + Ice) and the other's red because of Reshiram + Kyurem (Fire + Ice). Also of course because of the whole blue and red are considered opposites, just like black and white thing. Doubt it really has anything to do with Hoenn or Ruby and Sapphire at all.

Orgen will have me forever convinced as far as rumors are concerned. He knows his shit.

I'm blown away, simple as that. I wonder what was the thought process concerning making this for DS though.
