Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 confirmed for Nintendo DS

The end of Pokemon B/W did set up for a sequel...
Isn't N seen flying off to a new region with his Zekrom/Reshiram?

He's seen flying off somewhere. I think Looker implied he was off in another region, though. Everyone sort of assumed it wasn't one of the five already known, but thinking about it BW2 can do anything. They can take place anywhere and include any and every character in the entire series up to this point, and then some.

Game Freak not being tied down to focusing on a new region, set of Pokemon, and team this time around could prove incredibly liberating when it comes to taking risks with the single player campaign and story.

Just remembered DS cards can't have 3DS optimized features.

Not possible in any way? Nintendo have made specialist game cards/functionality for Pokemon before... but I suppose they'd bang on about it for a game coming out fairly close if it had much significant in the way of optimisation.

We can only believe.

A combined B/W and R/S sequel would be weird, but it is possible. If that meant a downgraded Hoenn, however, I'd be miffed.

Unless it was a runner-up to a full-on remake for the 3DS, Gen VI!

Wow, this is unexpected - really curious to see what they've cooked up.

I also really like the idea that this is Grey and Ruby / Sapphire remixes in one, combined game... but I don't think they'd actually do that.

And while I'm disappointed it's not for 3DS, I'm sure it'll have some kind of 3DS enhancements.

Hopefully this game takes place in Unova and Hoen, like Gold/Silver was Johto and Kanto.

Believe guys, believe.

Unova is on a completely different continent (to call it something) than the previous 4 regions.

If Unova's connected to something in this sequel is going to be a new region in the new "continent"
Didn't N skidaddle somewhere else on his legendary of choice? Chasing him down to Hoenn would be more exciting and sensible than just having him hide out in Unova to surprise everyone with whatever he does next.

But after today's Pokemon Smash, nothing is sacred.

At the end of B/W, N was said to have been seen in a "faraway region". That hopefully means we won't be in Unova. And if we're going to another region, I'd say it's way more likely for it to be an already existing region rather than a whole new one. Which region would most benifit from this? Hoenn.

Having these games set in Hoenn would also take care of the remakes. They wouldn't technically be remakes, but they'd still be bringing Hoenn back into relevancy. Out of all the regions we know of right now, it's the only one that hasn't been revisited in the last ten or so years.

We can only hope.

I'm already in shock, stop ruining my dreams of RSE remake/BW2 being in Hoenn.

:( WHY GAMEFREAK WHY? Hoenn was the best gen

edit:

are you me?

No im Koodo
:p

All the regions are on different "continents" except for Kanto and Johto. Unova is a bit away from the other four though.

The blue and red probably doesn't refer to Red and Blue since in Japan it was Red and Green and then later Blue. And it's all diamondy and stuff anyway.

Hmm, could anyone bring up how many units of Game Boy Color were sold during Pokemon Gold and Silver's release? Gold and Silver were GameBoy games with Gameboy Color enhancements, so their situation is the one the most closely resembles Black 2 and White 2.

There's an airport in Unova

Well, yeah. There's standard tech in the Pokemon world.

But how shitty would it be to have an Airport with just one destination? :P I'd prefer connected regions.

Yeah, but route numbers are contiguous which means they're somewhat close I guess.

su um....these are going to be proper sequels or more like super updated versions?
Yes, why would they be called Black and White 2?

You know what else originally had the title of "2"? Pokemon Gold and Silver, which were originally called "Pokemon 2"

I don't get it, what's all this Hoenn speculation based on?
The logos of the games. The colored ice in the corners of them resembles rubies and sapphires, and from there it's pretty self-explanatory. But it just seems to be colored ice referencing the Kyurem/Zekrom and Reshiram fusions to me.

Well wait what would even happen in the sequel? Are those crazy Team Plasma mother fuckers back?

Gamefreak are extremely risk averse when it comes to where mainline pokemon games go. Took forever for a DS one, and it'll be the same for 3DS. They want those guaranteed mega-sales, which requires a large audience.

My guess? No real 3DS pokemon until 2014.

My guess? 2013. Two of the event Pokémon and rest of the legenadry pokémon is going to be featured in this year's movie. What left for next year's is just Genesect, probably some 6th gen pokémon will accompany him (just like Zoroark and Lucario). Then, traditional september new Pokémon game relase.

The original Gold and Silver were also compatible with GB they being GBC games (Crystal was not though) so what's the surprise? (Besides the stupid names and of course the fact that it's a direct sequel of the best pokemon games ever?)

You know what gives me more hopes, assuming there aren't any new Pokemon and this is set in a relatively new region, I really hope Game Freak goes all out. They can experiment and go crazy with the settings and the environments. Not to mention they have shit load of time to add new features for online, co-op and Dream World.

Don't let me down GF

Yup, but these are plain old DS(i) games. I don't think the impact will be anywhere near that of G/S in terms of hardware sales. Were B/W huge system sellers?

Look at the logos. You can't explain that shit.

Zekrom has the blue glowy stuff and Reshiram has the red glowy stuff. That combined with the ICE that Kyurem is made of makes it look like a ruby and a sapphire though it's really nothing.

would NOT like to be proven wrong since I hate Hoenn with a passion

Oh...
Man you Gen 3 people are desperate.

It will be DSi enhanced but that's it. No streetpassing unless pokemon is in you 3ds and the game itself is in sleep mode.

So, to clarify:

-The game is set in a new region next to Unova.

or

-The game is set in Hoenn, possibly with the choice of returning to Unova, or flipping between both.

Both would do a reverse-Gen 2, with Hoenn being downgraded or a new region not being very big to boot. These seem to be the prevailing ideas of the thread thus far.

The more I think about it the more I dunno about having new Pokemon.

The ecosystem reboot in BW would really lend itself well to no new Pokemon. They can easily pull another game out of the Unova Pokedex.

Finished white and sold it on amazon friday (well beat the "boss" decided to skip stuff after since I had no motivation to keep going).
Good timing I guess

What I'm currently thinking is that it's not really essential for Black and White 2 to actually have any 3DS enhancements as long as it's pushed along with the 3DS.

I'm pretty hyped about the Black and White sequel, i liked the main storyline in the game and a sequel could bring a lot of cool changes to the game, maybe now we can access secret pokemon like genosect and meloetta :P
