Oh brother. How long will the conference be?
Hoping it will have flash support and 4g lte.
When I wake up in the morning there will be only 2 sleeps left. Some lucky bastard is getting a killer deal on my 32GB 3G iPad 2. Still almost double what Gazelle is offerring though, so I'm ok.
Since different sites have had their hands on the alleged new display, do we know anything interesting about it? Like is it IPS or what?
It should only be Magical with a 300PPI, glass laminated display. Color calibrated and, dare to dream, 500 nits combined with a >1,400:1 contrast ratio. Otherwise appliances. Perhaps next to a refrigerator?
Cook better not disappoint.
So this is a plug, but this thread has lots of traffic right now.

I made a thread for a great apple focused mobile tech podcast called critical path. You should definitely check it out if mobile computing interests you.
I'm going to make an easy prediction- which is that you will be disappointed. Not only that, you will make sure to unceasingly post how disappointed you are, again and again and again, just to drive home how catastrophically disappointing the conference was. You'll make sure to make clear to everyone over and over how Steve Jobs would be rolling in his grave, how he never would have approved what was shown, and how the company is now in a rapid downward spiral.
I'll be impressed if I'm wrong, but going by your post history it's an easy prediction. You've fucking compared Cook to Gil Amelio, so please spare us dishonest charade of pretending you're still undecided about the guy.

I'm way late to the party on this, but holy shit IntelliScreen X looks fantastic. I may have to jailbreak for that once iOS 6 is out and has an untethered 4S/iPad 3 jailbreak. I'll be curious to see if Apple does the RetinaPad thing themselves for the iPad 3; I kinda doubt it, as it'll discourage people from developing full iPad apps regardless, but it'd be nice if they would.
Hell yes. It is $10, but you get a short trial period during which the full feature set is unlocked, I believe. To me it's worth every penny. This thing easily ranks among the very best jailbreak software in terms of value and features. I'd post a video but it might be a little off-topic. With that said, I'll be hoping for a speedy iPad 3 jailbreak and ISX update. (Anything will be faster than the iPad 2 jb)
OT: There was a comparison pic of smartphone designs before and after iPhone posted a few days ago, dunno if here or in another thread. Somebody got that pic at hand? Thanks in advance.
Wait what, there's no live stream? Didn't they do a live stream for the iPhone 4S, or am I just confused?Kind of odd...is anyone seeing any links to liveblogs for the event up yet? I've checked the usual suspects and I'm not seeing any obvious links to see where they'll be.
Want to get the OP updated with some goodies but it's like the industry doesn't want to help![]()

Links for live blogs are usually up 24h before the event starts, no?
Typically sites will put a "and bookmark this page for the event where we'll be blogging live!" link in the Apple invite article. This time around there's been nothing!

I don't know if I should buy this, as iPad 4 is just around the corner.
Whats gonna happen to the mags on newsstand? Its already 300 megs for some mags already. Will that balloon to a GB when the RetinaPad launches?
In the UK, I know www.krcs.co.uk are taking pre-orders, and I'm sure Currys/Dixons will be too, although there was confusion at Currys last year when people who'd pre-ordered went to pick theirs up only to find they'd sold them to the ones who queued. Whoops.
I'll be in the Apple Store Meadowhall queue like an idiot.
Just one final note about 'retina'. Just as the PPI effects viewing distance ( that is, the optimal viewing distance is decided by the Resolution and screen size), I do believe there will be a noticeable difference between the iPhone 4 retina and iPad retina. Why? Because I DO view the iPad less than a foot away. Right this moment, I'm sitting at my dini room table, iPad on it, and I'm leaning over it typing. Must be about 8 inches away. I like to view the whole neogaf page (non-web app), so I look at it closer.
Would I like 300dpi? Sure. But there's no doubt the improvement over the current screen will be much more vast than the difference between the new screen and 300dpi+. I will love it regardless. (point is moot, seeing as I can't afford a new iPad anyway)
This already happens with the Zinio app. You can hit 'Text' much like you can with Safari's 'Reader' to separate the text, and the text is clearly all in vector format (you can zoom in loads with no quality loss), apart from awkward parts of mags that use extra graphics near/behind text... then it's horribly rasterized. Not sure about Newsstand stuff.Apple needs to encourage e-mags to move to a format that encodes text as text, and not just massive scanned pages. That way you could keep photos roughly as they are, increase the quality of the displayed text, and files wouldn't need to get much bigger. (they are already too big IMO)

Are you complaining about the authenticity of a photoshop?

A lot of sites have switched to calling it next-gen iPad. Looks like no one's confident about the name yet. I personally can't imagine they'd use the term HD at all.
So close people. Day after tomorrow.
Even with iPad 2, you don't see "iPad 2" on any packaging or on the device itself. Just iPad. Only in marketing pieces. I'd imagine the same will be for iPad 3.
I honestly wouldn't mind if they went the way of iPods and Macs. No numbers. Just "the new" whatever. Hard to convey in marketing though.
I'm sad there's no talk of a better front camera. I imagine an iPad is used more for video calling than taking photos. =(
Maybe I'll use my iPad 2 for Skype, iPad 3 for general consuming and Kindle Touch for reading books.
iPad 3 will be your only tablet, search your heart you know this to be true
Engadget got BLACKLISTED FROM ALL FUTURE APPLE EVENTS.

Lol, but really. I'll get the Twelve South HoverBar for the iPad 2, so that we can video chat, while I can actually surf the Internet at the same time on iPad 3. If I surf the Internet while using Skype at the same time, then the camera footage will freeze. Sucks.
