Just to clarify. If the roles were reverse, this thread would have been on fire. I'm not going to get into that because that's a whole can of worms. I did get banned once for calling people out on loosely throwing our the term "racism".

Just simply put, if this was a case of "a white kid burning a black kid", this thread would hit 50+ pages, the media would be all over it, causing an uproar beyond believe.

As one poster said, "racism only goes one way...... right?".

Anyways, I'm out.

You're leaving this thread? Please don't stop at just this thread.

This is true.

Glad Enosh and FortunateSon are here to explain to us how nobody cares about violence against white people. Any excuse to push those bizarro racial grievances, I guess. Those black folks catch all the breaks!

The thread was about an hour old when you posted initially, douche.

I dont think it has anything to do with nobody cares. I think he is just saying there is a clear double standard. Which there is.

If the roles were reversed, and two white kids poured gasoline on a young black kid, and yelled "Thats what you deserve N****". It would indeed be all over the news, and a much bigger story. You would have "community" leaders like Jackson and Sharpton up in arms, and CNN/MSNBC and the like would be extensively covering it. Yet when the roles were reversed, the community leaders are silent, and it's not that big of a story.

I think it's very hypocritical. A hate crime is a hate crime no matter who it is against. They are all serious, all terrible. They all deserve equal coverage based on their severity.

Do white people need community leaders like Al Sharpton and Rev Jackson?

It's not necessarily about community leaders. It's hypocritical from that standpoint because Sharpton is a known racist and bigot. If you come out against acts against black people, which is fine, then you should be able to get your community together and denounce such attacks, and steer youth in another direction.

The coverage all comes down to the media, which is predominantly white. Whatever the reason is, American media covers it a lot more heavily when the roles are reversed.

This thread could become a thread about media double-standards. But I don't think the people trying to stir the pot really want to see the results of that discussion.

that's what kids do these days? SETTING OTHER KIDS ON FIRE?!

what the fuck happened to bullying a kid by saying he has a girlfriend? i remember skipping a day because there was this group of girls who kept saying this girl in the same class was my girlfriend. and that they'd seen us kiss. that was a lie! ;_;

It's just like how when a young white girl is kidnapped, the coverage is endless...but when a young non-white girl is kidnapped, it's a blurb in the local crime blotter if you're lucky. Obviously this is because of the media coverage of the media.

That's reverse-reverse racism!

It's completely true in that regard. Much like it's true about hate crimes. There is a double standard in the American media, and it's pathetic.

Nobody is calling anyone a racist. It's you saying that dumb shit.

reverse-reverse racism!

Black people don't need, or want "community leaders." Neither do any race.

Those people like Sharpton are just caricatures trying to cash in on racial tension to get stardom and money. They band people together only when it's necessary to attack another group of people.

Somebody like MLK didn't want a world that was just good for black people, he wanted a world that was fair and good for everyone. Jesse Jackson and Sharpton don't want that shit, no more than a racist white person does. Ironically enough, it's the same shit, just different skin pigmentation on each weasel "community leader's" skin.

This is supposed to be an argument? You make up hypothetical situations and speculate about how people would react and you think that somehow proves there is a double standard?

Anyway, this was an actual incident that happened several years back and wasn't a huge deal in the news, so you're wrong.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are racist now? Okay. Also the reason why they both sensationalize news stories involving black victims of potential hate crimes is because historically in America these crimes have mostly gone ignored/unpunished. They are the byproduct of an unfair judicial system. But nah you guys are right it's all about publicity and money. I'm sure the law will come down on these kids swiftly and mercilessly once they're caught. (as it should)

That's inception level racism. ^^^Nah man Al Sharpton and Jesse James are pretty racist.

would you disagree that while this isn't a new phenomenon, the level if violence used does seem to increased dramatically the past few years, especially with regards to children.

No. As a matter of fact, white teenagers set fire to other white teenagers in my high school in Scotland, because they were from another school.

It's true. I remember when I was at Duke and the whole Lacrosse thing was going on and it was insanity. A couple months later a white Freshman girl really was raped at a party thrown by a predominantly black fraternity by a local black Durhamite. The story barely made the local news and the News & Observer tried to kill the story completely. I guess rape is only important when it fits the media's racial template.

You never heard Sharptons rant about Greek "F****ts", and other extremely racist and homophobic comments he has made?

Google hate crime, or white hate crime and black hate crime. The results are disproportionately one way in terms of actual coverage. The evidance is out there. I am not even from America and can clearly see just by reading your news and watching your news channels. They should all be equally covered based on their severity. Race should not matter in the case of an awful crime.

Yes. They should be.

Now what the fuck was all the other shit about before?

The actual "evidance" is that 58% of hate crimes are perpetrated by whites, 18% by blacks.

So of course you're going to hear more about hate crimes by whites, since we commit more hate crimes.

Also, the closest thing I could find to a thread on GAF about white-on-black hate crime was this one about a perpetrator of the James Byrd dragging getting the DP. It "exploded" into...two pages.

Disgusting, sad story. I hope they're charged as adults

(I'm black btw. Figure I need to point that out for the reverse-racism brigade)

The article says it was a hate crime and that the kids did it simply because he was white, but I'm skeptical about it. They said he "deserved it." Sounds to me like there could be more to it, and though there is no excuse for setting someone on fire, there might be an ulterior reason we don't know about yet.

It's disturbing and depressing seeing the things kids do to other kids these days. It's a tough job but parents are gonna have to learn to raise their children up right.
