Oh yeah, not sure whether El Sloth has already read it, but Pretty Face is a good completed series worth checking out. Had lots of fun with that one.
Doesn't seem like my kinda thing. But it won't hurt to check out the first couple of chapters I guess. Thanks anyways.
It's worth reading up til the Student Council changes imo, just goes downhill from there.

As for completed series try,

Alive: The Final Evolution
GTO (If you haven't gotten around to it yet, I remember recommending it to you a LONG time ago)
Ushio to Tora
Angel Densetsu (I think you've read this already?)
Route 225 - Flawful's recommendation a while back, it's a nice, short little story.
I don't remember if it was you specifically, but yeah I did read GTO when someone here recommended it to me. One of my very favorite comic series. Is Shonan 14 Days done yet? I don't remember why, but I stop reading Alive near the very end. No idea that the author was on his deathbed during the final arcs.

Thanks for the recommendations!

thats a bit shocking. thats one of the series that im pissed at myself for finishing.

I know we already had some discussion after the raws earlier, but...

Mahou Sensei Negima 354

This has to be one of the worst ways to end a series I've ever seen.

Spending the entire second to last chapter looking at the future of maybe the 10th most important character in the story definitely doesn't make much sense. This hasn't felt like a good ending point for the series at all since it was announced though.

(blood lad anime)

Huh? I see in a lot of places that it starts in July

I'm not seeing anything to that. Random guesses are that it'll air in the summer, but nothing's been confirmed from what I can find. That said, summer would be a pretty good bet given it'll have been a year since its green-light announcement by then.

This might be a really weird question, but could One Piece volume 61 be an okay place to jump back into the series?

I've read bits and pieces of this manga, but I want to take another look at the story, characters, and setting without reading through chronologically if that makes any sense.

Shonan 14 Days is completed but hasn't been fully translated. Someone posted a while back that Fujisawa was working on a new manga I believe.

Other manga you might be interested,

Bamboo Blade
Full Metal Panic! Overload - Fumoffu-type Shenanigans
Kurohime
Gundam Sousei
Gundam Crossbone
Ichigo 100% - My Harem shit suggestion =p.
Kyou Kara Ore Wa - I think you dropped this at one point?
Tenshi na Konamaiki - Same mangaka as above

Honestly you don't even have to be a Gundam fan to appreciate Gundam Sousei or the badassery in Crossbone.

If you have some time to invest into a shoujo series I would recommend:

Kare Kano
Lovely Complex
Nodame Cantabile
Aishiteruze Baby

For Lovely Complex or Nodame I would recommend the anime though.

Anyway, what hapenned ? I remember Akamatsu saying in a interview going on with the series for a couple hundred chapters. Why did we get...this ?

And yeah, I still think it should've ended in chapter 352. Sad ending > bullshit epilogue.

Read Shonan Junaï Gumi ! It's set before GTO, it's awesome and very funny to boot. The humor is really GTO-like, you can't go wrong with that. The drawings are a little weird at first but it gets better eventually.
It is one of my favourite series.

Blade of the Immortal vol 1-7

This has got to be around my tenth attempt to read this manga and I'm actually getting into it this time. I still think the story always just narrowly misses being actually good, but dat eye candy makes up for it I guess.

Oh and Samura clearly has some sort of foot+sandal fetish.

How can you mention shoujo without even saying Kimi ni Todoke? :)

Negima 354

What the fuck is this.

TLR Darkness

Momo is a complete nympho. Any time she hears two people talking she immediately assumes they're having sex. Has she never heard of a conversation before?

It does get better. The art style wont change much and the gag feel is only in the beginning. The manga deals with serious matters like slavery and politics. The gene thing is not overused.
Ughhhh...
The Breaker vol 5

Shioon keeping getting up after that beating was intense.
Get used to it.
I also like how the Sunwoo girl has the hots for him but acts all pissy. Makes for funny comedic scenes and she becomes cute in those.
Don't get used to her.

The Breaker is a marvel of existence. Truly unmatched.
The best high school romcom.
Love Collage and Karin are both better. Unless you find them not "high school" enough, IDK.

Switch Girl!! vol 12

This author is a genius. Even in such a desperate situation, even with bullies that are trying
to rape our heroine and her friend
, she comes up with the most insane ideas to save the situation, like the
chastity belt Nika and Nino were wearing.
And the start of the school trip, which begins as the volume ends? Nika running to the bush just to unleash
a deadly fart on those girls
killed me.

Scanlations are up to volume 6, I hope some of you read it, because it is a really crazy, hilarious shojo.

Guys, I'm trying to track down a manga I read a few years ago. It was a high school romance/comedy where the male and female lead were always at odds with each other. I only read a few chapters and I think the art was pretty good.

Yeah, I know, that's a pretty vague description but i'm hoping you guys can help me out. I think it might be a shoujo series but the art looked more shounen-ish.

Dude, that is EXTREMELY vague. I'll give you my shoujo list cause that is the best I can do.

Aishiteruze Baby
Akagami no Shirayukihime
Ao Haru Ride
Dengeki Daisy
Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
Kimi ni Todoke
Koi dano Ai dano
Lovely Complex
Ludwig Kakumei
Oresama Teacher
Ouran Koukou Host Bu
Reimei no Arcana
Saruyama!
Special A
Suki-tte Ii na yo
Watashi ni xx Shinasai!

I wish we could maintain some sort of lists in the OP...
His reach knows no bounds. I bet he is the one who had the fan-service toned down.

All of them.

All of them.

Though, I'd probably think it to be closer to Maid-sama or Special A if it was THAT big of a plot point on them being at odds.

I only even remembered it because the art was very shounen-like rather than the bishy-shoujo look. I'll check out some of those and let you guys know if I find out though, lol.

Haven't found it among the titles you guys named. I guess i'll do an MU search but that shit takes forever :/

Does this mean they'll find a cure to fix her body and she becomes a sexy woman just like the teacher? That wouldn't be too bad.

More like the author just sort of kicks her out of the story for the most part. :x

When you say "at odds", maybe you could be more specific? They hate each other? They can't bear to look in each other's eyes, they get nervous when near each other and do random stupidness?

If you can provide more descriptions for the characters or settings then other shoujoheads can pin down the manga for you.

Hmm.. The guy and girl are both smart, they constantly compete with each other and have a general tsuntsun dislike for each other.

The biggest factor I think is that the art wasn't your typical bishy art, so it might be categorized under shounen as well.. that's why i've been having a hard time finding it.

I'd love to, but I have a very blurry memory of it. I really only know the stuff I stated above.

I'll try and find it myself, though but there's pages and pages to wade through on manga-updates.

It'll end up being Yankee-kun to Megane-chan somehow. That's pretty much shounen art.

Nah, it's not that one.

Anyone? I realize it's a stupid question, but I'm very curious if One Piece is accessible without having to read all of it's previous arcs.

Karekano?

Trying to think of more things to suggest has me realize that this setup must be my weakness and now I'm going to spend the next few days re-reading things (or reading new things, ooh Last Game...)

...

I need help.

It's where the timeskip happens so it should be a good place in that respect, although overall I'd suggest against skipping chapters, because it'll be the small details in previous chapters that come back to bite you in the ass when it comes to One Piece.

Well you gonna miss one of the best arcs in the manga if you skip directly to volume 61. Plus other characters motives and stuff won't make sense.

Absolutely not. Tried doing that waay back in the day and failed miserably. You're going to have shotgun it, from beginning to end. (took me 2 months to re-read the entire thing at a leisurely pace)

Cool. Thanks everyone. = )

Yeah, the timeskip is what had me thinking about reading again. It seemed like it could be a clean slate, you know? However, I see what you're saying. Missing large chunks of the story would probably take some meaning and enjoyment out of later chapters.

No, despite the arcs being very segmented similar to Dragonball each of them is full of continuity porn.

Those long-running details really go a long way in One Piece, huh?

Just out of plain interest , what arc would that be?

Okay, I'm convinced. I'll take everyone's advice and read the series without skipping anything.
