Im a photographer and iPhoto is useless for me, how can i get pictures from my Canon 7D (CF card) to the iPad, if you tell me i need a computer, i might as well just use lightroom on the computer.

I'm more interested in viewing photos on the screen then editing them on it.

Plus edit jpgs is noobish. No RAW support no deal!

My wife is in school for photography right now and she'll need a new laptop soon. I'm trying to figure out if an iPad 3 might end up being the better option... I guess I'll need to wait for more info.

Well when you're trying to appeal to the largest amount of ppl, it's hard to do anything that isn't safe.

ICS is a very nice OS on the tablet, it's just the app support that's apparently bad (but I've found everything I needed for the HP touchpad at least).


I want to see the retina display in person just to see how nice it is. Still wouldn't get me to drop $499 on any android/apple tablet.

no way. that's a studio decision. you'll need to rebuy if you want the icloud streaming stuff

Yeah, iOS isn't for me, sadly. Apple's hardware is best-in-class by a huge margin, though.

I have a MacBook Air, Windows 7 gaming PC, and iPhone 4S in the house, but the hype is getting to me on this iPad. I just don't think I'll use it, though. I hope their display technology finds its way into the next-gen MacBook Air.

Anyway, I'll definitely be picking up an Apple TV box.

Gaming PC with Windows 7
iPhone 4
and a Vita for gaming.
My iPad 1 still does everything I need.

I would be a lot more tempted if it had 32gigs of space at $499. If I hold off I may just invest this money into a new Air either this year or next.

And more importantly, iOS apps that take advantage of the extra resolution. It's going to be good to watch your HD videos and browse the web on, I guess. But the numbers are higher, so far marketing purposes, it's all good.

So now I have to either store all my photos on SD cards or take the time to copy photos to a SD card to use? How is this easy or streamlined?

The interfaces for their 'Pro' apps make a mockery of their own HIG and are borderline unintuitive. Like, beyond Adobe levels of how-the-fuck-do-I-do-this.

For instance, Lightroom is a svelte, nimble acrobat compared to Aperture.
