Okay, selling an iPad 2 that is strictly worse than the product called the iPad is stupid as hell.

It's not just the iPad. It's the new iPad.

Go into a store: "I want the new iPad."

Pretty smart, in my opinion.

We can go back to the (G3) or (3G) route, eventually we'll just call them by the release year.

An iPad 15 or iPhone 20 would sound totally ridiculous.

Yeah, the state of mobile internet usage is just awful in the states. I just don't even consider it outside of my grandfathered unlimited iPhone plan.

Solid device, not sure I'd upgrade if I owned an iPad 2, but it's amazing for someone just hopping into the tablet game now. Personally, I'm not interested, my cheap-ass Touchpad's good enough for what I need.

However, I definitely admire the attitude that went into this. Apple put their foot down further on their competitors throats and said come fucking match us.

Overall, that's just better for driving competition, business, innovation and hopefully other companies raise their games too.

I guess they wanted to deal with one year of awkward naming until the numbered iPads are out of the picture for good.

So when they announce another iPad next year or whenever and "the new iPad" is no longer new... then what? I can understand if they went with the naming convention of iPad (1st Gen), iPad (2nd Gen), etc. But there is an iPad 2 thrown in there and that screws it up. Terrible choice in not giving it a definitive name like iPad 3 or iPad HD.

1080p, new interface, same shape, same price, and iTunes DRM rules are changing to allow redownload of some movies/TV shows.

I've got a smartTV that covers most the same stuff, so I may hold off on that. Neat to know though.

Definitely interested in the new iPad though I may wait a bit. Need to see what E3's attack on my wallet consists of
