But you don't need to have IB, IB2, Rage, and other big games on there all at once. Space Management is your friend.

Depends. Do you use Itunes? If not, then space is a premium.

The only way to effectively manage the space and not fill up the device is by using Apple TV, streaming and Itunes.

It all depends.

And what if you go on vacation and want to hoard?

^^^anyone else get a small message that says "thank you for your order"?

$635 spent. Black WiFi 32GB. Considered white, but I'm just set in my ways. All my iDevices have been black. I watch movies a lot in bed, in the dark so I figure it is better.

Unless you wanna put and keep loads of movies and series onto your iPad, I don't see why you'd need loads of space. One or two bigger games, loads of smaller apps and games around 50 MB, some music, which you can also stream through apps.

Never even filled up my 8GB iPhone lol.

I find it lame that the camera is only iPhone 4 quality now. Why not just jump to 4S levels? Ugh. Also, no Siri right? Those are basically the only cons I can think of...

Also, does the new iOS add that swipe up for camera feature from the lock screen, or is that iPhone only?

I have a 720p tv I want to hook an Apple TV up to...do last years' models have firmware updating so the new interface comes to that one too? Because frankly, I wouldn't need the new one if that's the case.

Don't think you can preorder in countries where it's released March 23rd.

Check your local apple.com/nl/ipad

See the "coming soon" button in the right corner? Check apple.com/ipad and see the blue shiny "Pre-order now" button.
Ah thanks for the info! well time to go to bed now that I do not have to worry about that today :P.

So I have a question about Pre-Ordering. I see you can preorder online for instore pickup on the 16th, but they'll also have some available in store for purchase without a preorder, right?

Whuuuuuuaaa? Everything I checked indicated no options for in-store pickup. :(

Megapixel is same as 4 but it has IS and the new lens from the 4S... Afaik

Woot! Finally got my preorder through, first Ipad so I went with the lowest model

$534 for the Black 16 gb wifi. I think thats all the damage I can stomach for now

.I was hoping for something way better then whats been out by other vendors in the Streaming video devices.. Its very disappointing..where as the ipad 3 hardware is.."wow kick ass! lets see somone else match that this year"..very exciting. The appletv is ..ya ugg.
From their point of view, what's the point if they don't natively offer services that require it? Other than the nig regarding no DD+ for Netflix, it's going to do what it does as good as any of the competitors.

The thing here is this isn't positioned as a local media player - at least not of the sort like a WD, NMT, or Dune. Those are meant to play anything you can throw at it from your own content ... however they generally aren't as proficient in other areas: online services, UI, etc.

Obviously you and me were hoping we'd finally see a best-of-both-scenario ... but it looks like we still don't have one here. Boxee is probably the closest, but I haven't followed it's current FW offering to know what issues still remain.

Bummer was hoping to be at the point of just ripping to MKV containers and having streaming devices that wouldn't require re-encoding this year.. I pretty much just re-encode so the WD devices can handle them throughout the house and to bring to the trailer at this point.
Ah well maybe next year.
While it sucks, I think the best solution right now is to have 2 devices: One that is proficient for online services (Roku, AppleTV, Boxee, etc) ... and one that is proficient for local content (WD, NMT, Dune, Boxee, HTPC, etc).

Obviously if Boxee can fit all of your needs, that may be the way to go. I'm curious to see if they plan to make a new box in the future, or if a good solution using Plex comes from LG or similar. A number of SoC's now support XBMC (including from the family NMT's use) ... so maybe we'll see something there in the future as well.

I'm in the US. On the very first ordering page it says "order here and pick up in store" but now that I've gone through the process of selecting my model it seems its for shipment only. Which is really confusing. It had a link to the store locater and everything.

Games are often hundreds of MB. My 16GB iPhone 4 whittled down on me within the year between it and the 4S.

I have 11GB of photos alone.

You sure you don't want to pay 829 dollars for the 4G 64 GB version? I mean shit, don't be a cheapskate! ;)

In-store pickup is a US only (or US mostly) feature. It was removed from Canada's system quite some time ago

I keep changing my mind while I wait for the UK site to be up. 16GB... 32GB... 16GB... 32GB... 16GB... 32GB... 16GB... can't decide!!

Dual A9s @ ~1.2ghz and a SGX543MP4 @~300mhz with 1GB LPDDR2 is the right sort of solution imo, quad A9s isn't going to make that much of a difference.

Looks like I got it pretty much spot on. :)

They wouldn't get 2x Teg 3 with a simple core doubling so there must be a bump in clockspeed as well. Fantastic to see that, yet again, Apple have got their SOC strategy spot on.

After you choose color and model. then what? I see no button to advance or add to my cart

nvm; after a ton of times my summary area filled in

Go for the 32GB. Some digital magazines are around 500MB per issue. You would want to have more space left over rather than worry about it

get the 32. I often had that pretty full even without a ton of music or videos - just having lots of games takes up space. And e-magazines were often 500MB each - with the retina display that might be even larger this time.

white....black....white...black.

My head says black would be better, but my heart thinks the white would go better with our furniture (lol)
