2012 NBA Mar |OT| Knicks fans now drinking JD in straight shots

Knicks should trade Amare and Chandler to the Magic for Howard plus Big Baby or Hedo. Or Amare, Chandler, and Novak for Howard and Anderson. Not sure how valuable Anderson is though.

Yeah i remember last season there was supposed to be a stretch of games that was going to ruin the Knicks season too, cats kept posting the schedule over and over again. Knicks ended up winning like 70% of those games...

You'd have to win all 8 remaining games in this stretch to hit 70% for the 11 game stretch.

Good luck with that.

Carlisle is an overrated coach. Dirk should be getting at least 20 shots a game. It also doesn't help that he's not getting the calls he got last year. It blows my mind.

Otis is stupid, but he's not trade for a bum with no knees and 100m contract stupid.

Dirk is shooting more often than last season. And higher compared to his norm.

He is doing what he always does. And while I can't confirm/deny if he's getting less calls, his FTA are in line for his consistent drop offs the last few seasons.

Carlisle isn't even running plays for him. I've noticed that several times over the last couple of games. When the Knicks went on that huge run against Dallas, Dirk wasn't shooting the ball. They were ignoring him out there. No plays were being ran for him.

Boozer:
"ANNND ONNNEEE!"

Carlisle with hair > Bald Carlisle.

After shaving his head, he looks like he should be the equipment manager for Man U or some shit like that.

You mean after the stretch where the knicks won 8 in a row, and as typically happens, knick fans were throwing parades in their pants, but everyone else said, you may want to slow down, those wins were against:

Detroit
Nets
New Orleans
Toronto
Minesota
Toronto
Washington
Denver

Who were all the same sort of shit last year, they are this (actually, Minnesota are a lot better this year). Outside Denver, there wasn't a good team on the entire list (IIRC, not one about .500). So most people were all, eh, lets wait and see how you go against the good teams, in the upcoming stretch in january, where you're going to play a bunch of good teams.

Dec. 28th
Miami, Loss
Orlando, Loss
Indiana, Won
Spurs, Won
Phoenix, Won
Lakers, Loss
Portland, Won
Utah, Loss
Sacramento, Loss
Phoenix, Loss
Houston, Loss
San Antonio, Loss
OKC, Loss

You mean, that stretch, where you won 4 lost 8. Is that the stretch we're remembering?

Cause, if it is, your memory is bad.

I wasn't saying that they would win 70% of these games just that this seems quite similar to last season. I watch the knicks everyday and I have no idea what to expect because they are wildly inconsistent. But cats here think they know whats gonna happen and they dont even watch the games.

And giri that wasnt the stretch I was talking about. Not gonna look it up now cause im on my phone but it was sometime after new years. Gondo was posting that section of the season like a month before hand and a bunch of people joined in. I dont know if it was 70% I just made that up, but they were over .500. I remember because when I brought it up after the fact he admitted he was wrong.

Edit: Ok I found it, I was wrong they went 5-5 when everyone thought the would lose every game and play themselves out of the playoffs.

Here

i Went looking for the list i posted (i know i did back then) of the games knicks fans hsould wait until they've won, before crowning their team. Found more interesting things than knick fans re-writing history again.

Don't hate on me for truth bombs guy. TD isn't listed at C. So No.

TP better than Nash this season? nup. Deron, Kobe, Manu, CP3 & Monta are the best 5 guards in the west at the moment.

Nash won't make it cause the suns are shit this year, Andre miller is have a helluva year and should almost be in the running for the MVP for what he's doing in portland. Steph curry if he could stay on the court would probably be right up there too.

If i had to pick 2 forwards this year, it's probably Dirk and either melo/KD. But Dirk hands down.

The best C out west has been chandler, and that says a lot. But camby was playing well and so is Marc.

To which TCB replied

I

Tony has had a better year than Nash.

And its a joke to compare him to Miller and Curry :lol

None of those guys are all-stars.

Not yet anyway! lol well done TCB.

Golden State scored 72 in the first half?!

(were any from Lin?)

I just liked that post.

Whos rewriting history now? None of Knicks age was crowning them. Our arguement was that they were a playoff team (they were), the counter argument was that they were just as bad as the year before and that they would be out of the playoff at the end of that stretch (they weren't.) Yall always do this shit, nobody in knicks age proper has ever seriously over estimated where the knick were (we're a pretty reasonable bunch chars excluded) but according to you guys we over hype the shit out of them.

And lol at that Lin quote.

Hahaha, where's angry, gives a damn, Sharp.

WTB Sharp.

Knicks-age never had the faculties to say "just a play off team" it was " ECF or Bust". They never got Humble until Lin arrived.

And if anyone dared say anyone other than Amare were the MVP........

I feel you. Just like how everyone base Lakers-age off a few crazies.

Though I still want the Knicks to miss the playoffs, it would just be too hilarious not to see.

It was ecf or bust last season? Really?? You're doing it again...

What, remembering it right?

It was like when a month ago, knicks-age was all "our problems are solved! Lin is here, mike has his PG, we going to run through everyone, no one can stop him getting to the rim". I had that conversation like 2 weeks ago, just before the ASG.

True story.

Official avatar bet:

If the Knicks miss the playoffs I'll rock whatever avatar yall want for a season starting in the fall, ill keep it for one extra season for every poster that gets in on the bet, no limits. If they make it though everyone that bets against me will have to wear an avatar of my choice for all of next season.

Any takers?

With syphon? That doesnt count.

We should have a rough idea if the knicks are making the playoffs by next week. But i wouldn't count them out with melo, stat and chandler on the team.

I've never done an avatar bet, nor do i care that much. The suns this season have really killed a bit of my passion.

Check out that OJ Mayo defense.

dIEHARD's greatest hits :P

RT @ChrisMannixSI: Kevin Love yelling at Kurt Rambis on sideline after Rambis pulled him in the third. Stood next to Rambis until Rambis waved him away.

KAAAAHN just said in an interview tonight that he thinks that Rambis has a long future here.

Didn't Taylor just come out saying Khan has a long future there?

Friday Night Knicks back tomorrow. Win over an injury riddled Bucks squad will mean the Knicks are back.

Nets/Cats too, what a day of games.

Bobcats played some of the worst ball I've ever seen last year.

Its so much easier to watch this year because not only are they almost actively trying to lose (DJ doesn't give a fuck), but they've been hurt at every position too. Sacramento, Washington, Golden State, Detroit... they're trying their to best to win games.

So just so I understand this correctly, you're all too bosh to take the avatar bet but you're still gonna talk shit? Cool.

edit: and all this digging in the crates shit made me want to find my first best gaf post, could have sworn it was from the season before this but I guess not...

When is the damn draft lottery?

lol This was the night Knicks scored like 40 points againt the C's

The Knicks have like a 70% chance to make the playoffs based on the B-R 1000 season sims.

Yet this is a team with two former or current All-Stars, a top notch defensive center scoring at 70+%, a three point god scoring at 67%, a solid player in Landry Fields, LINSANITY and SHUMPDAGOD. And they're still 23rd offensively and struggling to stay at .500.

They're battling to hold off a team without its most important player, that has Stephen Jackson feuding with his coach, and is currently "led" by a guy who might bail on the league to get $$$ from Europe.

Milwaukee's four best active players make $15 million combined. (And one of those is Drew Gooden. And another one is Mike Dunleavy.) The Knicks are paying $60 million to their top three plus Billups.

Yup it's fucking sad, but they're still making the playoffs.

The worst part about it all is that during these last 3 games the Knicks have shown short flashes of actually being able to play up to the sum of their parts. They'll get it together for a stretch of games sooner or later, they'll probably go back to losing after that but it will be enough to squeak into the playoffs.

Knicks lose by 15 tonight. Book it.

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

Jennings is gonna go full And1 mixtape on Jeremy.

Besides some random joke posters, I don't think any knicks-ager was overselling the team this year. I think most of us were cautious over how the lack of a PG would work. I definitely didn't think Douglas was gonna shit the bed the way he did, though he would have at least been serviceable until Baron was healthy. To say we were popping off about being world-beaters and locks for high-seeds and to go deep into the playoffs wouldn't be accurate.

I went to a Wolves game where you guys were missing like half your starting lineup. You beat us.

I just saw this posted at the bottom of the Suns-Mavs game recap on ESPN:

The Suns are 6-1 at home since the players dressed up a model skeleton in the locker room with Warrick's jersey, headband and shoes

WTF?

Also, this terrible Suns team has the same record as the Knicks. 18-21 lol

Nah, y'all were talking about the second round and beyond during Linsanity's short stint. Don't back away now.

Actually, people trolling Knicks-age actually were cutting us down for considering anything short of the ECF a success. I know there are posts we made here and comments we made in IRC about how funny it was that the goalposts for a failed Knicks season for Knicks haters moved from "missing the playoffs" to "losing in the first round" to "losing in the second round".

The only people talking about ECF and Finals and things like that were talking heads on TV/radio, or people associated with the Knicks. Even at my most ebullient, I'd say things like "man, the NBA is over if Lin is consistently good".

...anyway, we really miss healthy Chandler. :(

Its not already a massive failure that you got (and possibly ruined) jeremessiah, brought in two legit allstars, a high end big, signed 'quality' role players, got a big name coach, and can't break. 500?

Whatever it is, it's our team and we keep coming here and rooting for them. That's really all we can do. We wish they'd be winning more with all the things they have, but they're not...so we have to figure out why. It's a crazy lockout season with less games and no time in between games to rest and practice. Players are injured, there's been no training camp or time to learn how to operate in this system, the team didn't have a functional point guard until roughly 16 games ago, there's endless personnel turnover, etc.

We think they'll shake their issues out and get good enough consistently to win more games, get into the playoffs and maybe even make a run in it. They have the talent to do it. It could be the coach that sucks; you know we're collectively not very fond of D'antoni (search for "firedantoni.com" in these threads; see how many of those posts are mine, lol). We have to see.

This season is a failure if it doesn't work out better than last season. Last year, we finally made it to the playoffs but didn't win a game. Let's see if we make the playoffs and win games and get to the next round.
