Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Oh, also, this is probably the thread to ask:
Was the Normandy's memorial wall supposed to have a bunch of names on it? In my ME2 everybody lived (all crew etc) and it still had a bunch (I got there promptly).

I like how the game doesn't inform you of when side quests will expire

in fact the journal is a useless piece of shit as a whole in this game
I like how you get side quest, you can't do because the planet isn't unlock. I like how the game doesn't tell in which galaxy the planet xy is.

Mine all lived and the wall still had a ton of names. Remember that a bunch of crew members die in the initial collector attack at the beginning of ME2.

Most of those are people who died at the beginning of ME2.

Wait...you could meet Liara's father in the game? How did I miss that? I scoured every inch of the Citadel every time I came back to it...which was often...

Technically you could meet the father in ME2. At least I'm pretty sure it was the same bartender. My character didn't meet the bartender in illium in ME2 but they sounded the same to me.

Yeah it has everyone who died, including Pressley, Jenkins, etc. And if Thane or Mordin or anyone else dies in the game they will show up on the wall too.

Ah good good. I assumed it was the deaths from the original Normandy (with Presley among them) but got a bit worried as it wasn't made clear when they died. I assume it'd be pretty much full if the crew died at the end of ME2.

No, he's saying that Vega not being gay after everyone assumed he was is weird.

And I agree
The first time you see James he's exercising and sharing sexual innuendos with Cortez. He gives you an affectionate nickname. You can invite him to your cabin and automatically come onto him. Late in the game, he's shirtless getting a tattoo. And he's voiced by Freddie Prinze Jr.

Not making him a bona fide romance option for gay Shep is practically a fate worse than Reapers.

Some of us have standards. He's a butterface. All of that muscle won't matter with that face...unless you paperbag it. Even then....ugh.
Well, some of us just have low standards. :P

It's kinda funny watching this thread go in waves with new groups of people finishing this game every day.

-I was cool with this game up until the ending
-The ending made no sense and here's why
-Here's a better ending
-What happened to dark matter?
-Hey guys so Tali's a stock photo
-DLC extra ending

Plus some new variations (IT WAS ALL A DREAM) each time.

It's... almost like a cycle...

A cycle of pain...horrible pain.

This particular post on the BSN gives me a tiny glimmer of hope... I'm going to hold on to this until we get some sort of statement from BioWare.

"In the end, after the credits, we're given the Stargazer and the Child on a lone planet. As we know, Stargazer has been telling us the story of The Shepard, the person who overcame the reapers and brought a future to the galaxy...

From the Stargazer's perspective, they would have the recorded history of Shepard's life up to that final push when he/she goes MIA. From that point onward until the Normandy crash-lands is a blank space.

All three endings are fiction."

Imagine for a second, if BioWare was working on (free) DLC called something like 'The Truth'..

One can dream.

You know, normally, I don't ever give the BSN any credit.

This was good.

Hah! I knew it! Did I not ask:

Here's a conundrum- if Anderson and the Illusive Man were dead, and Shepard sacrificed himself to do whatever, then how did the story exist to be told in the first place? Who knew about the conversation with the Catalyst?!?

So I guess there was no phone after all. Grandpa Buzz Stargazer was just making up what happened in the Citadel, so the Catalyst conversation and the choices are not canon.

Yes, you're right. It's her. I'm pretty sure you find out that she's Liara's father in the Shadow Broker DLC, as well.

So I allowed the Geth to upgrade but couldn't stop the Quarians dying and I missed Tali's suicide Paragon option.

After beating the game though why did I bother doing that in retrospect if all I was going to do was kill the Geth along with the Reapers. Kind of disappointing in hindsight.

I can't stand the idea that James or Kaiden is going to come on to me at some point. Just talking buddy, no need to get all excited. Should have saved that xenophobic bitch instead.

Should be really easy make the player choose sexual orientation at the start.
No need for uncomfortable confrontation.

Kinda like with Cortez i knew he was gay no problems with that. But yeah some paragon choices i was afraid this could spawn some male on male cut scene i rather avoid if i can not really comfortable with that kind of stuff.

hope this doesn't come over as homophobic.

I didn't think he was gay. I thought he was there to attract the dudebro population. :|

Who are gayyyyyyy~

Okay, they aren't. But they're very homoerotic, which means Vega gave off "gay" vibes to people
.

You know what I meant. >:|

I did the exact same thing. I wanted to be extremely nice to the guy because he was clearly hurting but every paragon thing that came up I was worried it'd force my shepard to be gay. But even without hitting any of the prompts I still felt like I was pretty nice and supportive to him.

What's worse: Vega not pounding BroShep, or FemShep not being allowed to go down on Miranda?

Uhmmm...Where was Harbinger? I guess the rumors of his voice actor not returning was true lolz

Wasn't Harbinger the last Reaper shown near the Citadel, with the glowing yellow eye things? I could be wrong.

I don't see how the paragon option has to be picked in every sequece. It's not like you get extra points if you do that.

Wasn't it like:

A) Why can't I be eye candy?
B) I'm into the ladies.

No, not really. LOCO.

And even if you hit the choices, you can always friend zone everyone before you start any relationship.

Honestly, even if we get a new ending through DLC, that still wouldn't fix all the problems with the story. The Crucible is a huge cop-out, and I can't figure out how it was hidden from the Reapers for thousands of years while organics were able to find it.

Yup. As long as you don't flirt with him he won't come on to you.

It's eternal. Forever repeating just like the Reaper's cycle...only in shorter time span.

It really is. I mean...I have so rarely had an ending impact me this negatively. It wasn't that they decided to do something different...it was the sheer level of pure fuckery and fucking fuck-a-filling throughout it that boggles my mind.

I simply can't fathom any dev wanting to unload a hot steaming pile of fuck onto someone's plate for no reason. It is mind boggling. If you got a room and put 50 random people inside it and told them these ideas for an ending at the very least, one of them would sheepishly raise his hand and say, "With all due respect...what the fuck are you thinking?" And that person could be blind, deaf and write and read only brail Spanish and they would still raise their hand!

I actually had no idea that she would suicide until I looked at threads. The cutscene with the Quarians getting destroyed and her falling off that cliff is totally different than what I got. Man. It's hard to see her like that.

I think I realized why I'm not as distressed as most people about the ending.

You never played DA2, right? :D

What's worse: Vega not pounding BroShep, or FemShep not being allowed to go down on Miranda?

Tbh I think the prospect of awakening vega's sexuality while he stammers and tries to act all dudebro and manly while denying it all the way to the bed is pretty enticing. And by enticing I mean hilarious.

He was. But the Harbinger should have been the antagonist of the game or it was teased. But Mass Effect 2 gave us the Human Reaper which didn't have a really purpose either.

Wasn't the catalyst controlling the Reapers? Makes sense that it would keep that information away from them.

The real question is why build the crucible at all if your plan is for the Reapers to cull organics forever.

You don't need to worry about any dialogue choice with Cortez save for when you meet for a drink in purgatory and he makes a comment on all the eye candy and you either agree or say the girls on the platforms are good enough for you. it's pretty blatant what the situation is seeing up but it's not some overt advance on the oat of Cortez. They did a good job with it I feel. If I hadn't known he was the gay LI I don't think I would have realized he was romanceable, just gay and depressed.

I guess you haven't played Final Fantasy XIII-2?

The problem is my Shep is gay but batting for Kaidan. As a result, I've been going out of my way avoiding comforting Cortez too for fear of him confusing it as Shepard coming on to him. So would that drink in purgatory causes Cortez to think that my Shep is into him? There has to be a better way for team mate not to confuse your friendship as gesture of love.

Why does it make sense? He was behind the whole idea to destroy every intelligent organic life every 50,000years.

See they could've totally subverted expectations and criticism for adding a Gears of War meathead space marine if they had made him actually gay and romanceable and done it in a tasteful way. And it would piss off CoD players, and be hilarious.

I think the Crucible was a dumb last minute ass-pull but it failed so it balances out the contrivance.

The crucible didn't fail. The little space magic kid tell you that the crucible changed HIM so you now have the 3 options :lol. I'm supposed to believe all these races were able to build a magical weapon that would modify the citadel and some master AI they had no idea existed. It's also implied many races didn't even know that they needed a catalyst as it's missing from the blueprints. How did they build this again?

There's a lot of shit about the Mass Effect universe that doesn't make sense, so the macguffin that was the Crucible didn't bother me. It's always been cheesy, stupid SF, and I was fine with that so long as the characters were there.

This ending is just all kinds of bad, though. You know it's bad when people would take 'it was a dream' end over it. I can't think of a worse ending right now. Not even MGS4.

Why does it make sense? He was behind the whole idea to destroy every intelligent organic life every 50,000years.

It makes Bioware sense. If an advanced AI is going to create the weapon of it's own destruction/control, why tell the Reapers about it?

It obviously makes no fucking sense.

The point where you have to choose with Cortez is quite clear: at the bar, where he invites you for a drink, you can either state that you are "good-looking too" or "looking at the ladies", but nothing else. I don't like being forced to state sexual preference when it isn't the issue. Boning your crew is simply not something most captains would do.

I realize this shit has to come up at some point, but after that choice cortex won't be 'talkable' any more, which I think is the equivalent of "have sex with them or they won't talk to you anymore". It's design choice, obviously (dialogue does not return), but it feels 'off', as far as I'm concerned.

That said, my game of chess was just chess, because I chose Liara's 'us' from the start.

but since it was mentioned earlier: does that dialogue come up regardless of ME1 actions?
