Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Do you guys remember when you blow up the Collector base and TIM still gets his hands on it. Biggest WTF when you walk into the room and there's the Human Reaper just chilling.

Yeah I thought that, I blew the whole thing to fucking smithereens! You'd think the mother of all explosions would prevent Cerberus from finding even fragments of the whole base, never mind that Reaper.

Haha, I mentioned that when I came here to rant after beating the game.

That's exactly how I felt a few hours ago when I finished it. I still don't feel right now.

I still don't understand this.

What from the past three games did you honestly expect to affect the ending in any way?

Well in Mass Effect 2 you were going on a suicide mission, but still against all odds you made it out all alive and if you made the right choices even all your crew made it out alive.

In all those years Shepard thought to the blood against impossible problems, but still managed to overcome them. It against everything the players have played, that Shepard would just accept the solution presented by a Deus Ex Machina character in the last 5 minutes of the game.

You didn't even had the choice, screw you kid, we will all go down together rather then this or take our chances fighting.

Human reapers

We should have seen this coming, you guys

We all took the Paragon "Hope" choice for the game.
To our eternal cyclic regret.

Just wait another 5-10 years for Bioware to announce their next big CHOICE Impacting Trilogy. I am going to mail them a bag of shit with a reaper drawn with black ink on the bag.

I just beat the game and I thought it was amazing. The ending was absolutely amazing. How people can hate on it is beyond me. What a good damn series.

Oh, I chose to control the Reapers at the end.

I feel like I'm the only person who cares that Reapers ignored the importance of securing the Citadel right from the beginning of ME3. Did I miss some explanation for why they didn't just go there first to shut down the mass relays?

Shh. It's best not to think about it too much.

So, talking to my friend now and he thinks I'm exaggerating.

The ending to Borderlands was better than ME3. What do you guys think?

Well Borderlands didn't have 2 'hugely important' prequels, so yes. This is much, much worse. In fact, this is the only time I've ever felt physically repulsed by a game.

Easily. That would be like saying getting a kiss from a somewhat attractive girl is better than getting your left ball kicked by a large angry man. It is a contest only idiots wonder about the results from.

Off topic from the ending, but in the script leak there was mention of a mission where people in cages were being lowered into a pit and turned into Husks. I think one of the people in the cages that had to be rescued was Ashley or Miranda. Is this mission still in the game?

If I remember correctly the mission you are talking about is "Oriana being lowered into a pit to be turned into Husks". The mission is still in the game but it has been significantly altered and hardly bears any resemblance to the leaked script now.

I have a gift for you.

Close your eyes.

So it's not a matter of you wanting the choices to come back, it's that you just didn't like the current choices presented. Fair enough.

No, seriously. I'm asking for what people expected, not for some patronizing .gifs.

My stomach has been hurting all day. :(

I felt like I got punched when the ending happened. I skipped the credits, couldn't bear to sit through them.

There are about 50 odd pages now of answers already though. Thats why we all took it as a patronizing question. The answers are already there so asking seems either like a mistake...or a setup.

It's hard to think any game's ending that shits on three games simultaneously. (I haven't played the MGS series, so I can't vouch for MGS4.)

Human reapers

Did we ever see a Prothean reaper? Or did the reapers get annoyed with their sea monkey physique, and thought Terminator would be a better look?

My stomach has been hurting all day. :(

That's how I felt after the DA2 ending. You learn to live with it.

I know there's a trope for the Gainax Ending, but is there a BioWare ending now?

I for one wanted to see the war assets make more of a difference and reasonably effect the choice. How does it make any sense on how many ships I have to determine whether Earth gets blown up or not? And if it does, why wasn't that explained a bit more?

I wanted to actually see the Geth helping out, maybe save an alliance ship or two, and because I saved the council, maybe see some alliance frigates get destroyed, which would crash in to earth and delay shepard. SOMETHING

Funny you mention that. I have played some shit games, some shit endings, and some good games with bad endings(some of which people have mentioned here in this thread).

I still didn't understand why I was so effected by this. But man...I hear you. Something about the 6 years of real life that has passed since 1, the choices mattering from 1-2, the characters, the world and all the thought, to and ending that appears to have been written in a translated fortune cookie written by a person who doesn't understand the language they wrote the fortune in.

3 games, 6 years all served up into one massive pile of failfuck in one fell swoop is awe inspiring. Heroic fantasy...damn.

The hate for the Human Reaper still gets me.

It's a trilogy. You honestly expect to get the full story in the second game?

Instead of being the boss, however, it should have been just something you see. Like a background object during the real boss fight.

But it's not a choice you get, that's the problem. That they take away the choice and are making it for you.

Except you have three choices? Again, I will ask: what possible things from the past three games did you think were going to be present at the ending? How would they possibly be a part of that ending?
Granted, the Mass Relay Apocalypse does come out of nowhere and would be more accepted if it were planted earlier on.

Did we ever see a Prothean reaper? Or did the reapers get annoyed with their sea monkey physique, and thought Terminator would be a better look?

This never made sense. They said that all Reapers are just previous species, yet only the humans get a reaper that looks like them?

Borderlands story was irrelevant. You played for the loot and the coop. I don't think anyone gave a shit about the ending outside of the "That was really dumb" factor.

Here, it's a bit different. I imported my Shepard twice. I wanted a proper end for him.

The MGS series is a series of movies where you passively affect the story. With ME, you greatly affect the series so MGS4's ending, although a huge problem, is not as big as ME3's.

I feel like I'm the only person who cares that Reapers ignored the importance of securing the Citadel right from the beginning of ME3. Did I miss some explanation for why they didn't just go there first to shut down the mass relays?

As told by Vigil: "Our leaders were dead before we even realized we were under attack. The Reapers seized control of the Citadel, and, through it, the mass relays. Communication and transportation across our empire were crippled. Each star system was isolated, cut off from the others--easy prey for the Reaper fleets. Over the next decades, the Reapers systematically obliterated our people. World by world, system by system, they methodically wiped us out."

I mean, I can understand that people are having trouble with the ending. But fixing the ending won't address other weird issues, Catalyst nonsense aside.

From Reapers perspective i can understand it why they attack the citadel first in the prothean cycle. A galactic empire and way higher in tech then we would ever be. I really got that condescending feeling because of how Javik talks to you if you recruit him early. So yeah take out the their leaders first.

With our cycle they probably felt cocky and just went full on because the galaxy was splintered. So the best strategy would probably be divide and conquer. And it is in a race best interest to preserve themselves instead fighting together and hope we can take them on. And you have 3 big galactic players Human,Turians and Asari attack the citadel and most would probably order their troops back to their home planet before the reapers can shut down the mass relays.

That is why Shepard is so important people are willing to follow him into battle or even death. And because he is space jezus, he can rally every race together for a final battle for earth against the forces of evil.

Atleast that is how i see it.

I thought Grunt was going to die. I was so worried and then he made it out and I was all 'FUCK YEAH'.

Im a krogan fan so no if i have to choose i choose them.
Grunt going all rambo on the rachni i had already thought that is the way he wanted to die so when he emerges i was like Hell yeah suck on that reaper scum.

Stuff like that makes me even more pissed about the ending. Seeing everyone cope with their impending doom gave us some of the best moments of the entire franchise.

Yeah, so many great moments. It's pretty much just a nonstop train of fanservive for long time fans of the series, and I loved every moment of it.

And after that confrontation with TIM, I was like, okay, this isn't that bad! I felt something stir in my chest when I saw Anderson die. Shep closed his eyes. I was like, hah, people are overreacting.

Then the vent kid pops up. I knew that fucker would ruin the game somehow.

I wish we fought Harbinger in a kind of wave formatted attack of Collectors until we finally fought the "command" Collector and all the while had Harbinger taunting us but gradually getting more desperate in his verbal attacks as we made it closer to the "command" Collector.

It would have been a great opportunity to show more insight into the reapers and that they weren't infallible and invincible. It would also have made things much more personal than the reaper baby fight alone. That is for ME2.

No the marauders are turian turned reapers and the banshees are Asari turned reaper.

He meant as ships.

Yeah, fighting Harbinger head on would have been great.

Just reminded me. Tali drunk drinking through an 'Emergency Induction Tube'. So good. And her going on about how her father wouldn't have approved of her and Shep and how he would have hated him. <3 Drunk Tali.

I thought the exact same thing. I was all 'That wasn't so bad' then I got worried there might be more.

Then the floor lifts Shepard up...
