Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Because a lot of people didn't have at least 4000 EMS at the end of the game, which is what is required for Shep to live.

4000 is dead easy to get, too. Not sure how people didn't get it.

Just do all the quests (which are easy to do) and play 3-4 games of multi to get your readiness to 70%, and 4000 is assured.

I am confused, I got 6k EMS and he still dies

Oh, also one time I jumped across a gap that Garrus had just jumped and landed on his head. It was kinda awkward. Also lots of randomly elevating a few feet when walking near some things.

I am starting to think that the ending "DLC" is going to be of expansion like quality. I'm still pissed about that ambiguous ending but I'd be happy if they expand the end part and add in ship combat with the Normandy, take part in this huge scale war (we did play as Joker before) and actually fight Harbinger because what the hell was the point of that build up from ME2? Do that and edit the ending to include an epilogue of the war based from your choices.

Agreed. As I was saying on the previous page, something smells rotten here and with the devs posting tweets even more so.

I would love to have a proper conclusion after a good long expansion for 4-8 hours. But gawd damn if that isn't squirrelly as hell when it comes to devs and their customers.

You know what I can't wait for? The interviews where the developers will lambast the fans for complaining about the ending...
Did they do that with the Dragon Age fans? It thought they just kept quiet until everyone moved on.

They also haven't released any new DLC for that game (DA2) since it probably did so poorly.

Even if you assume he needs a physical connection, then you just have Saren chilling out in the council chambers as the Geth fleet suddenly warps in and starts blowing things up. This would actually still be better for them than the ending of ME1, since the Alliance fleets are not on standby ready to assist in the defense of the Citadel, and the Citadel fleet itself is not on high alert.

Of course, a frontal assault may be entirely unnecessary to begin with. It's easy to conceive of more subtle ways to get Sovereign attached to the Citadel. One example would be for Saren to bring Sovereign in as an "in-tact Prothean Dreadnought". Science teams that check Sovereign out become indoctrinated, and tell the council that Sovereign can use the Citadel to open diplomatic relations with Protheans in distant space. Sovereign can even masquerade as the ship's VI, although it might want to tone down the booming devil voice when it talks.
Yeah, I'm not particularly sure the whole thing holds water without making a bunch of assumptions. My understanding hinged on the idea of there being too much room for potential failure for any other course of action that would've been deemed less than optimal. Beyond the whole Saren messing with the terminal with impunity thing, there are still quite a few unresolved questions, most of which revolve around Saren's relationship with Sovereign. I always felt it played into the whole "Reapers are incomprehensible" thing; we were missing a lot of explanation (really, wouldn't the Council have questions about their Spectre flying around in a completely alien vessel?), but most of that mystery usually worked in the game's favor.

It just wasn't as blatantly contradictory as suddenly showing the creator of the Reapers to be some AI thing living on the Citadel this whole time, a creator supposedly only "unlocked" by a bullshit weapon designed by multiple civilizations as they went along. Ugh. =\

How the fuck were you even in the military tier:
Jenkins

Honestly I can't argue with this. Only thing I'd probably do is remove the ok tier and move everyone there into the shit tier.

But yes Garrus is the ultimate badass bro. He's the closest thing we have to space ahnold. He'll kill you and then give you the driest sarcastic one liner ever.

Legion and Mordin rank top for me. Kaidan too, but I am bias since you can romance him as male Shepard (not sure what's my opinion on him if he was never considered a romance option).

I would probably sacrifice all quarian for legion if i don't care about the best ending :D

Allrighty, ranking time.

Undisputed greatest squad member and biggest bro of all time tier:
Garrus - no doubt. There is no Garrus without Shepard and no Shepard without Garrus

Awesome tier:
Liara - I love her for never doubting Shepard and being there when she needed her. An Excellent Bro
Wrex - Shepard
Mordin - a scientist with a conscience and capable of seeing past his own failures. Good qualities. Also, can sing musical songs.
Legion - A robro. If Garrus didnt exist he would be bro no 1.

Good tier:
Zaeed - A Good Bro. Would rank higher if he had a bigger part, but bonuspoints for his guddamn nostalgic waxing.
Tali - i love her VA, and she had a lot of bad luck in her life. Girl deserves a break.
Kasumi - A Good Bro, but should spy less on people.
Jack - I didnt really care for her in ME2, but ME3 made her a cool character. Needs a better wardrobe.
EDI - loved how she developed in ME3. Her outfits, meh.
Grunt - would be awesome tier, but Wrex is clearly the better krogan. Bonuspoints for being metal as fuck against Reapers though.

'They're okay, I guess...' tier:

Miranda - I liked her for some reason, even though her face went into uncanny valley territory. Deserved a bigger part in ME3.
Samara - mrs bland. Needs a better wardrobe.
Thane - mr bland.
Ashley - space racist but loves poetry. Guess that cancels out, leaving her in the nothing special category.

Shit tier:
Javik - cant say i really care about him and his superior attitude is annoying after ten mintes.

Why do you even exist tier:
James - lol
Jacob - the priiiiizzzzeee.

Ashes on Virmire or otherwise dead
Kaidan
Morinth

Some do not want or can't play multiplayer (for example those that don't pay for Xbox live). When Bioware finally revealed that ME 3 would have multiplayer they stated several times that it would NOT affect single player. Well I guess we can chalk that up to yet another Bioware statement that is nothing but a lie.

They didn't state this. They stated that you don't HAVE to play multi. Which is true. You don't. You can't get 4000 without multi, though.

Allrighty, ranking time.

I agree with your list for the MOST part, but dude, Thane...

His death scene in Huerta was....AMAZING. Holy shit. One of the most poignant scenes in Mass Effect history.

His conversations in ME3 are nice. Sitting in comfy chairs, stairing out at the rest of the Citadel, talking about how he's at peace, and ready for death to take him.

So amazing.

Not to mention he is an old, dying man who manages to keep a cybernetic ninja assassin from killing a council member.

I wonder why people from ME2 couldn't join your party. That didn't make sense. Except for those who die.

Thane needs more love.

XBvrT.gif

It's the Cerebrus scientist explaining to the IM that restoring Shepard is impossible, the body is too badly charred and the brain has been without oxygen for too long.

Liara tried to disprove it for me, not sure if Garrus or Tali (squadmates from ME2) would say something either.

Tali steps in with support when he wonders if he could be some high-tech VI, says (I had a Cronos Station save right there before climbing the ladder)...

"You are real. Real...and mine."

Now Tali was my LI, so that last statement sounds like it might be exclusive as such, but can't say for sure (sometimes dialog is left awkwardly undifferentiated).

FUCK BIOWARE for releasing a buggy mess like Ass Effect 3.

WHY the Fuck can't I complete the "Hanar Diplomat" Quest ... FUCK THIS SHIT.

May I ask what is the military strenght of each of your Quarian unit?
Is it like this (25/25/150/175/150)?

I rewrited the heretics back in ME2 and saved both Quarians and Geths, but even so Deadly has like +200 MS in every Quarian and Geth unit.
I have no clue why is it like that :(

It's that extra 6 months of polish. Made all the difference. The game must have been in poor shape if it had released at the original date.

:|

I honesty hope we get a Garrus spin off game. Maybe his exploits as Archangel, or something completely different. I like how by ME3 he's basically a Turian Shepard.

I don't think it matters if the ending is some symbolic hallucination or death dream. Most people are upset because the ending is dissatisfying and poorly executed. It's far less about what happened than it is about how it happened, although what happened is also understandably a point of contention.

You probably went to a priority mission too soon.
Go to the Spectre Terminal on the Citadel and 'authorise' everything, it should work now. It's not a glitch but a dumb system.
That quest is actually bugged for some people. The prompts to investigate the terminals sometimes won't pop up no matter what you do, condemning Kasumi to a stealth oblivion. :(

I talked to an invisible person.

Also, Shep gives Tali a rock on her planet, but it becomes invisible.

Tali's rock glitched through my shepard's hand. It looked like I had drilled a hole through the rock with my finger.

They didn't state this. They stated that you don't HAVE to play multi. Which is true. You don't. You can't get 4000 without multi, though.

Nah, apparently playing on a higher difficulty or importing a 'completed' shep into a new game really boosts your war assets.

Also, Miranda is almost a necessity on insanity in ME2 for Warp + Overload.

His conversations in ME3 are nice. Sitting in comfy chairs, stairing out at the rest of the Citadel, talking about how he's at peace, and ready for death to take him.

So amazing.

If you're a renegade, Kolyat explains that Thane wasn't praying for himself, he was praying for you. Thought that was really cool, along with the other mentions of your Paragon/Renegade state in ME3.

Otherwise agreed with the Tier lists. The ones on the lower rungs were people who I thought hadn't been fleshed out as well, either in Kaidan's case in ME1 or like Jacob/Miranda/Samara in ME2.

I hate Liara so much. I'm so glad she gets told by Javik. All of her interpretations about prothean culture were wrong haha and she whines to Shepard about how her bias influenced her studies. In ME1 she says that the other Asari don't respect her findings because she's young. Guess you can't blame them as her work was wrong anyway. Also loved how her mother knew about the beacon on Thessia. The burn was amazing. It's also weird that she's one of the few squadmates that can't die.

FUCK BIOWARE for releasing a buggy mess like Ass Effect 3.

WHY the Fuck can't I complete the "Hanar Diplomat" Quest ... FUCK THIS SHIT.

The bug I experienced was that the terminal I had clicked still lit up after I had clicked it once. I eventually found out that there is another console that I had to find. This happened in another similar quest aswell. This game really lacks a good a journal, it would be nice to know if I had found random artifact #232 while planet scanning for random fetch quest #321. Instead I resorted to going through every level on the Citadel each time I returned to see if any NPCs lit up.

There are quite a few bugs in ME3, more than I expected.

Ok, I'll bite on the rankings and throw in my $.02

Undisputed greatest squad member and biggest bro of all time tier:
Garrus - Seriously. The easiest ranking to give. They're a space-age Starsky and Hutch.

Awesome tier:
Liara - Straight up awesome. The fact that she's my main LI helps her a lot, that and that scene where she wants to preserve Shepard for future generations....priceless.
Wrex - Shepard
Mordin - As Aria said, he's just as likely to heal you as he is to shoot you. Dude is bat shit insane. A real G.
Legion - He's absolute boss. That and he is a kind and compassionate soul, as witnessed when he sacrifices his life to give the Geth individuality.
Miranda - Dat ass. Plus she's my 2nd waifu.
Javik - should have been in the main game. indispensable character

Good tier:
Jack - she's crazy. character development between 2 and 3 pushes her into this category from the shit category.
EDI - she would be higher if she weren't a sex bot.
Grunt - He was meh. Nothing really to say except I feel bad for him since he doesn't really have a personality. His pw0ning of the Rachni moves him into this category rather than the OK category.

'They're okay, I guess...' tier:

Zaeed - Annoying as shit when it comes to Vido. Needs to lighten up.
Samara - Hypocritical as shit.
Thane - Kolyat would have been a better choice.
Ashley - space racist.

Shit tier:
James - lol

Why do you even exist tier:
Jacob - he's about as bad as Kaidan and that's saying something.

I don't even...
Kaidan - self explanatory. Carth 2.0
Morinth - would try to kill me if I slept with her. Hell no...

Make way for the newest member of the "I'm not satisfied with the ending"- club...

:/

*Shakes head* I want a 'true' ending, a straight path which to follow to get the ultimate good ending.

I guess the synthesis ending is my equivalent of ME2's 100% paragon ending. The moment the kid showed up I knew things were heading in the wrong direction.

Hell, Shepard being the catalyst would have been so much better. Shepard sacrifices himself to power the weapon to blow the Reapers to hell, save Earth, no Mass Relays destroyed, every race happy to have a safe future. Bam, end of story. And then, perhaps a special ending where they imply that he survived.

Does anyone know what the exact line was that Liara's father said if you had Liara romanced as a male Shepard? It had something to do with reloading your gun, but i cant remember and youtube only has those dialogues with female shepards.

I don't like how the Shadow Broker of all people is unaware of something like that. It's just another weird little thing with ME3's plot that doesn't sit right.
It was super, duper, ultra, mega, über classified.

Morinth - would try to kill me if I slept with her. Hell no...
I thought that was pretty funny. You were warned about it.

Shepard sacrifices himself to power the weapon to blow the Reapers to hell, save Earth, no Mass Relays destroyed, every race happy to have a safe future. Bam, end of story. That would have been too convenient I think.

The one major quest bug I ran into was indeed that Hanar diplomat mission. Got two terminals but then could not activate the one in the refugee area despite it being pointed out on the map.

And not as much a fan of Garrus as some, I don't dislike him but usually only take him along when I've exhausted other convo trees or for sniper action...which is mooted with Ashley now. Now playing a game where his only presence is to be listed on the memorial wall in the Crew section, see who shows up in his place (like the "oh yeah, that isn't the same Council" when they started speaking, forgot I let them bite it in this ME1/ME2 renegade import).

The game is definitely the buggiest of the series, I ran into 6 or 7 bugs. I couldn't even do the Dekuuna quest.

Yeah, I've never been able to even find that one. Got the quest, but it doesn't show up anywhere. I was hoping for some combat with elcors.

I didn't even do it, then talked to the Elcor again and he was all like, "Awesomely: Cheers for saving my peeps, brah."

Yeah it was really weird. Got the texts from the planet for the night club Elcor but had no notice about exacuating people or anything but he still thanked me.

Also, did anyone else listen to all the audio excerpts from Blasto 6 (I think it was 6).

The Elcor speaking everything 'Badassfully' was awesome.
