Battleship - Trailer #3

Nice.

By the way, seeing as you work for ILM, do you know what track they used for this new trailer? Would appreciate it if someone can grab a name.
We're not involved in the actual cutting of trailers as we just provide shots, so I wouldn't know the soundtrack used. Sorry!

When we saw The Girl with the Dragoon Tattoo I and a trailer for this played I lost it. This poster is awesomely bad.

they had a different trailer in front of chronicle. At first I thought it was the new GI Joe movie, then I thought 'are they making a crysis movie?', then I saw battleship.

looks good in a brainless way - hopefully more GI Joe than transformers, but it does look like it takes itself quite seriously

I always wondered who cuts those trailers. Is there a specific company which solely focuses on the cutting of trailers and spots, or is it usually done by someone at the movie's studio? (Universal in this case)

ILM is really making the most of the Transformers designs and sounds. This movie is seemingly reusing stuff and that giant flying robot in The Avengers also seems to be a Transformer.

Point taken. Though I still think in a Museum scenario they'd still wouldn't load every weapon. After all you'd have to get all this ammunition back to the main-base after the transport. An escort would probably make the most sense.
Someone more knowledgeable of the US Navy and its procedures could probably answer this with more certainty, but my understanding is that a warship being prepared for the museum isn't even able to move under its own power and has to be towed to its destination. I think they pretty much render it inoperable before it even leaves the shipyard for its final museum berth.

So people who are hating on this movie would rather go watch "Tree of Life?" Or are they just tired of sucking on the Bay's teat?

Looks awesome in an over-the-top ridiculously ludicrous way. I won't get to see this in theaters (very rare to get the chance) but I'll watch it on PPV/video.

Why would we be involved with the audio side?

And there aren't any reused assets. As for the designs, we're a for-service company - if the studio or director wants a certain look, that's what they're going to get it since they are funding it all.

What the hell is with all of the shots with the missiles, pegs, alien weapons, etc. going right at the camera? Is this in 3D or something?

Then why does everything look like a Transformer now and why do all these movies choose to use the same robot sounds?

Well people aren't all a bunch of Marks for these cgi/blockbuster/big movie of the summer, so of course they'll ridicule this movie if it's not up to par.

I mean I'm not into movies like tree of life or whatever.

Only bad part of this movie which doesn't sell me on it is fucking Rihanna. I hate Rihanna.

You'd probably like the ILM finals reel then, which only shows all the effects shots with no dialogue and just a music track blasting. We do these for all projects, hell I recall the TF2 one had some of the original theme remixed in the background track. Don't remember if Michael Bay had a reaction to that or not.

You should release that with an AC/DC track in the background.
I'm thinking "Big Guns"

Ask the studios. Hell, Skywalker Sound didn't even work on any of the recent Transformers movies, so we wouldn't have in-house access to the sound library for those movies anyway. Not that we'd do any audio work in the first place, that's their domain.

How does this get a 200 million$ budget but a true to source material Bioshock film can't even get off the ground.

Fuck Hollywood.

^You're fucking crazy.

Looks horrible. The trailer doesn't tell us anything except Battle LA: 2 with a bigger budget and set in on in the Ocean. The reuse of Transformers sounds is really distracting. In fact some of those ball things that are getting shot out by the aliens look like reject designs from some type of Basketball transformer. The water looks nice though.

I don't understand how anyone thinks this will be successful coming out in May. The Avengers is still going to be strong and MiB3 is going to come out the week after it is released. A new IP that no one knows anything about is going to get crushed this summer. It should be released in September. Unless they are too afraid of going against the juggernaut that is Resident Evil: Retribution.

Cause it was going to be R rated and the fact Hollywood hates big blockbusters with an R rating unless it's a comedy.

Trailer looked cool. Since I am taking Maya Dynamics: Particles this semester, holy shet at the water sim. These effects are good references for my final project.

Def will take a look for studies.

Yes and it will make a lot of money, since it´s like transformers.

Except TRANSFORMER had an audience that grew up with fond memories of the cartoon it was based on. No one gives a shit about Battleship. Do you really believe that people are sitting around thinking I want a movie based off of that board game Battleship? No, now Monopoly on the other hand would make money because people would actually want to see how the movie figures out how to end the game. It would also be like 10 hours long and everyone would remember that they hate the boardgame for that reason.

Blasphemy. If Matrix was successful Bioshock can be successful too. Good marketing/word of mouth will sell anything. I wish the Pirates director was able to make the film =( He was really into it and knew what he was doing. Shame.

Yeah but it's not boring looking like Prometheus

Tree of Life is also terrible, but this will be a Transformers like catastrophe and it is almost offensive that someone would spend so much money on this garbage. And don't come with the dumb summer movie excuse, because I still like my entertainment to be of quality when it is warm outside.

Also the script has been out for a while and reviewed countless times. This will be awful, there isn't even any doubt about that.

I am alwas indifferent when it comes to "hating" celebrities etc. But god, i really cannot stand Rihanna, and her being in that movie makes me like Liam Neeson less for some reason. And i fucking love Liam Neeson.

I guess that racist thing on her twitter pushed me over the edge. Some people should not get rich and famous.

If i had a gun with two bullets, and Hitler, Osama and Rihanna were in the room.
I would shoot Osama and Hitler so i could have the pleasure of punching her in the face.
