SO MUCH THIS. We hate on the players for screwing teams and the management never does anything until the players threaten to leave. I for one don't feel sorry for orlando magic. Same thing happened with lebron. Look at the lakers, kobe/shaq, kobe/pau and now maybe even pau/kobe/bynum. Can't say the same for dwight or lebron while in cleveland.

EDIT: And kobe had to threaten to leave to get even pau there.

Look at the way the Thunder have build around Durant. They complemented him with other young, supremely athletic players that will push him and challenge him, and even a guy in Westbrook that challenges his alpha dog status. The Magic had the 10th and the 11th picks in the 2 respective drafts following the year they drafted Dwight. Who did they draft? Fran Vasquez and JJ Reddick. Same thing with Cleveland. They had the (IIRC) 11th pick in the draft the year after taking Bron and drafted Luke Jackson, who not only sucks but also happened to play SF, the same position as LeBron.

The Lakers have such an advantage with their size, I'd be very reluctant to get rid of Bynum but of course, his health history might "win" out in the end.

Dude is way wider than Dwight and it's common for him to get 2 foot good looks.

I think he can hit freethrows as well, not sure his percentage.

Yeah, I'd rather not trade Pau or Bynum. You can't teach length or girth.

So is Dwight handling this the worst out of all the stars?

Melo said fuck you trade me. So did Cp3.

Lebron said nothing and left. So did Bosh.

Amare said he would stay and tried to see if he would get a max from his team and then left when he didn't.

Dwight is just fucking around like the big child that he is.

I think the NBA should sue Dwight Howard for tampering. My god, what a colossal asshole he's been during this deadline.

Of course, I'm not serious. They should commit him to a mental institution instead.

Yeah Dwight's handling was the worst because of the "indecision". It really still is, because he's only prolonging it.

DITTO. Then they have the nerve of calling a player a hypocrite and back stubber. OKC should be the template on how you handle building up a team around a superstar. You have 7 years....SEVEN!!!!!! If you can't build something with that, the player has every right to do whatever he wants, even go on tv to announce his taken his talents to south beach.

that was in the off season. I don't remember but did he say he was going to stay or did he just politically correct his way out of the discussions until the off season and not try to openly ruin the chemistry of his team like dwight is doing.

Because demanding a trade and then saying no im staying, and constantly going to the media is worse in my eyes because it fucks his team over.

and its not that he just indecisive of course its a big decision for him but to do it openly in the middle of the season and ruin his team's chemistry is just about the dumbest thing he can do.

It's not like Dwight is publicly announcing all this stuff. He just needs to realize that all his decisions are going to be leaked on twitter within hours.

I'm convinced he's telling everyone what he thinks they want him to say. His teammates. His GM. The media. His agent. He needs to stop giving a fuck. Stop trying to be a movie star.

Bron is still worse. Especially if Dwight stays in ORL. I wonder if he is just pinning on his agent or if his agent was being a prick.

Even if Dwight is still behind Lebron at this point, I'm sure after he leaves Orlando he'll stick his foot in his mouth and cement his place as the king of bad break ups.

LBJ answered questions for a month, then said he wouldn't answer questions, then took subtle jabs every now and then, but not directly.

And Amare would have stayed, if the suns had paid. Considering how he looks this season, he made the right choice to go for a guaranteed contract.

He's probably just the nice guy who wants to please everyone, but he ends up looking like a total dick instead. The right thing to do is stay with Orlando, and hopefully after this fiasco, they'll take note and try to stop being a bunch of fucking morons.

Yeah because the players you can get with the 10th and 11th picks are exactly like the players you can get with the 4th and 3rd picks.

The Thunder gutted their roster because the team was moving which coincidentally helped with their tank efforts. The Magic had guys like Grant Hill and Steve Francis on the roster when Dwight was drafted.

I don't know at the end of the day Bron played out his contract, did what he had to do and left when he had the right to do so. He didn't create a trade me to Jersey or LA circus whether it was intentional or not its been going on for months and Dwight has been childish throughout it.

Bron just messed up by going to Miami and forming a superteam and announcing his decision on national tv.

Its definitely a close one we'll see how this ends up for dwight, but it is pretty bad in a different way.

We'll he kinda did quit in the playoffs, that's probably worse than anything Howard is doing.

I couldn't sleep so I decided to play around with ESPN's damn trade machine.

I came up with this: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7m4xj9l

I think it works out pretty well for the Bobcats, Nets, and Magic. The Bobcats get a fantastic team piece in Anthony Morrow (he's from Charlotte) and take on the contract of Jameer Nelson to give the Magic extra cap space. The Magic bring in two decent young players in Augustin and Lopez, as well as two veterans in Maggette and Okur. The Nets lose two of their best players, but they get Howard in return. All in all I think it would be a good trade for all 3 teams.

The Thunder gutted their roster because the team was moving which coincidentally helped with their development. The Magic still had Grant Hill on a max deal when Dwight was drafted.

Look at where Kenneth Farid fell at. Shumps Da God fell at 17. San Antonio got Leonard who's also athletic and plays defense.

It's not the players they drafted, its' the type of player. JJ Reddick? Luke Jackson? Those guys' ceilings are role players at best. Complementary players.

Drafts are hit or miss. The Thunder should be commended for drafting as well as they did, but let's not pretend that they weren't also really goddamn lucky that their picks developed as well. Nothing is guaranteed.

They also drafted wrong on a few players.

Imagine if they had Steph Curry.

An actual point guard!

and i think they passed on lopez? or some others.

They didn't draft bad, but... hindsight means you might be able to put together a better team.

Same goes for every team.

So basically the Magic should only have picked the steals of those respective classes for them to have drafted well? 2005 and 2006 weren't loaded years either.

Move Boozer to the point, move Rose to small forward off the bench so he can display some of the post-up game he worked on all offseason.

Boozer needs to feel the texture of the ball often so this will alleviate that concern with him running the show.
He's the best passer on the team. He would be great at the point.
