Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

As someone who has all 3 game's collector's editions, all 3 game guides, art book, and every DLC from 1 and 2. There is no chance I'll spend any money on a ME3 DLC unless they fix the ending.

I'm not going to cancel my SWTOR account because I enjoy that game and the group at Austin are actually constantly trying to improve their game and I don't feel it's right to punish them for what the ME group people did.

But there is very little chance I buy anything from the Hudson/Walters group ever again.

The ending was already depressing as fuck. The reaction would have been even worse if this was included.

i wouldve liked that scene way more than the normandy inexplicably crashing in a planet with liara who was in my party stepping out of the normandy. i like closure, happy or sad, not speculation from everyone.

Man, that "you are about the child because he's human" is so bad, it's kind of scary. I gave no fucks about that badly animated shameful excuse for a kid. Get Tali to talk to me. Get Anderson.

GET SOMEONE I ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT.

I wonder if at some point, someone at Bioware actually realized that they were all bullshitting themselves. Like during a meeting, someone silently understood the immense fuckup they were about to create. His mind screamed but he just sat there, smiling and drinking the cool-aid.

I think this summer im going to attempt a perfect (keep squad deaths to a minimum, get best endings possible) run of all 3 games as a FemShep.

It's both hilarious and sad how the suggestions thrown around this thread and other forums for fixing the ending and other plot issues basically on the fly (Indoctrination theory, swapping out vent kid nightmare's for the Virmire casualty, the 100s of alternate ending suggestions, etc) blow away what Bioware produced when they had 5 years or so in deciding how it all turned out.

Pathetic.

You want God to help Mac Walters?

I will watch the panel with a mug a tea in hand and a smile on my face. It will be glorious.

Agreed. Literally every single fan fic ending I have read is more satisfying than what we got.

Wow, what a waste of creative talent this series is. Create a grand universe of literally galactic proportions and do fuck all with it, and to top it off end it with the literary equivalent of setting of a tactical nuclear nuclear bomb that resulted in the ruination of the in game universe.

Bioware truly has outdone themselves here. I mean wow.

Bioware should just seed the crowd with hand-picked fans and call on them only. We'll get penetrating, insightful questions like 'how do you feel now that the series is over' or 'I loved Garrus, will we see more of him in future games' or 'what does Tali's sweat taste like'?

I feel pretty bad for the people behind this, but they're making tens of millions of dollars from the millions of copies they sold, so eh, it balances out. In the end this is just internet hate.

Seriously if that deleted scene had stayed in and we still got that shitty ending...

Exactly what I was thinking, not only would they have killed the two squad mates who you take with you that we can assume you liked the most we then get what I consider one of the worst game endings I have played.

Would be like a giant penis smack in the face to the fan base on top of an already terrible ending.

Not only do we kill your favourite squad mates, then we out of no where we pull the Citadel is a AI that commands the synthetic Reapers that have to harvest the galaxy "just because other synthetics", then we give you 3 choices that have nothing to do with any of the choices you might have made in any of the games at which point we seemingly (breathing clip) kill the main character off too followed by some samey endings, then just leave it there with no explanation of anything besides a clip along the lines of "lol was a story of a bro"

Shepard fails (no god child) ending: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3CAS_WfoZM

Options, how do they work?

That's exactly the kind of ending I had expected to occur, activating the Crucible, killing the Reapers, and going out with Anderson (minus whatever was going on in the last 10 seconds or so). Personally I would have been fine with it, it's standard fare and they didn't need to go beyond that. Refine and polish it, add in some voice-over work describing what the future landscape of the galaxy might be like depending on your choices and you've got a serviceable ending.

To be fair, the bolded is a very important question that we need an answer to. After we crush them on the ending that is.

The thing is...this is kind of the process of how they write their games in the first place.

i tried to start doing that yesterday. installed me1, scoured the internet for the bring down the sky dlc serial number, and i was set. finished the eden prime mission, got to the citadel and i just had to quit out. it was just too hard to give a fuck.

didn't you still see Liara on the ground dead when you were walking towards the beam? I know I did.

About two days ago this would have made me mad but now all I can think is

"Oh Bioware, you so craaaazy!"

I do like the idea that there's probably at least one writer sitting in a corner smiling smugly as BSN melts down.

Damn, that's how you get emotional attachment to what's happening in a game, not a fucking child that appears on screen for less than a minute. If I saw that happen in game...

Honestly, there's not much to discuss anymore aside from rage. Now that we know that walters was just being a hack, I hope Bioware has the sense to revisit the ending and try again, hopefully this time with more writers working on it than just Walters. Yeah it might set a bad precedent, but I feel like this is a special case unlike most other games with bad endings that I wouldn't really care about.

This is probably what's going to happen.

"You in the red."

"Hiiiii. I just wanted to say how much I looooove Mass Effect 3. The ending was so good it made me cry! Do you guys have any plans for DLC?"

"Thanks a lot, we really appreciate your support. Yeah, we have lots of exciting DLC in the pipeline so hold onto your copies!"

Mass Effect 3 deleted scene where your squadmates die .

http://aws.gameslice.com/deleted/dscene1_a.mp4

thats....depressing.

Doesn't make any sense laser is used to cut things not explode on destination.
Laser goes by sheppard what seems like 30cm or something. Garrus trips and Liara helps him. Then the laser impacts the grounds at your squad mates and explodes???????????
While we just saw the laser passing by without explosion.

Let me guess a ww2 mine was still laying dormant their and the reaper laser hit it and Boooooooooooooom.

Maybe better this way people might have though the laser cooked sheppards brain.

Take this for what you think it's worth, but a friend of mine submitted an article to the site I work for where he stated that several Bioware writers were against this ending, but Walters stormed ahead with it and insisted on no input from anyone other than Hudson.

He's someone who would be working with other writers and is a gushingly enormous Bioware fan (to the point where we almost stopped talking over Dragon Age 2 of all things), so I don't really see it as unlikely.

I have to admit, I am starting to get pissed about the ending like everyone else.

At first, I was okay with it because I wasn't really paying attention and I was blinded by the fact that I was little sad about the trilogy being over - I thought people were just overreacting.

But now, less than a day later, I was definitely wrong - the ending was terrible, none of it makes sense and there were no consequences from the choices you made throughout the series.
What was bioware thinking?

I feel ashamed that I even slightly supported their decision yesterday.

The bad ending actually works very well.

I think the good one would require a little techobabble before (in the game, not the ending) to explain at least the principle of the Deus Ex machine to kill the reapers, and maybe use the animation of the effect spreading over the galaxy map.

Both are a lot better then what we got now... no need to be "clever" to give a satisfying ending...

Just finished the game. Really liked it. The ending was fine and inspired a lot of.comments and questions. It.may not be total.closure but I was.fine with it. Dont get all the hate in here.

Lovdd the game, thought it.was.fantastic.

Stop. Talking like. that

I think you are in the denial stage right now.

Actually, it would have given the player a greater sense of urgency and trauma. It would have really let you peek into Shep's mind. Not only that, but it would have given you a bleakness that would probably send you to really pick destroy or synthesis. If everyone you care about is taken, then it's not much to ask to sacrifice yourself for anything that's left. Something that's greater than you or the ones you love.

Evangelion spoilers:
If Asuka was your favorite character in this show, you know what I mean. It's fucked up, it's horrible, it's tragic; but it also makes it even more effective from the writer's standpoint. Her Eva was literally eaten alive as she was still in sync. When Shinji ascends he sees the remains and is traumatized.

But this is the kind of stuff I personally love, I know some people would have killed themselves though -- Tali-style.

I thought the same yesterday right after I finished it too. Let it sink in though.

Unfortunately, you will eventually join us :(
