Which of these do you guys recommend?
  • Colosseum
  • Froad
  • Modern Combat 3
  • Sprinkle
  • Need for Speed Hot Pursuit
  • Shadowgun
  • Asphalt 6
  • They Need to Be Fed

Not gaming apps, but what about these?
  • TuneIn Radio Pro
  • mSecure - Password

I tried Sprinkle Free, so you can to if you want to see what its like. I ended up buying the full version because I enjoyed the game. Shadowgun is a poormans GeoW, but it controls well and looks great. I haven't gotten that far in it though. Asphalt 6 is a very fun racing game from what I've played. I like how you can customize a little and purchase a ton of new cars. The extra challenges are fun too and completing them earns you stars which you use to unlock the better cars and open up new tracks. I don't know about the other games.

Read through that discovered Windup Knight. This game is the shit. I think I like it better than Running Fred (which is also a good game).

Anyone play Battleheart? That game looks amazing also.

Today's 25-cent app is the Smart Tools collection.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kr.aboy.tools

I bought it because the video made it look like a neat little collection of trinkets. It's somewhat accurate, based on what I've measured so far; not as accurate as using an actual physical tool obviously, but it seems good enough for on-the-spot measurements. Looking through the developer's app catalog, it appears that each the individual tools are available for free, so essentially what you're paying for is the convenience of having all of the tools collected in one app entry (vs. 8 app entries).

Now that the tutorial is done and some of challenges I'd really appreciate some feedback on my game Total Pool for Android. We are getting close to release!

Dat music.

Anyways, I went through the tutorial for some reason I able to just smash the ball with so much power lol (way too much). When it came to an actual match, the shots were much weaker. For me personally, I had to get use to aiming with my finger where I want the ball to go rather than pulling back like I'm used to in most pool games. As a result of this I often ended up accidentally dragged my finger ahead to the point of it touching the nav bar in ICS and that resulted in the shot meter line disappearing. Everything looked nice and clean and I like all of the options available. If I have more time later I'll be able to give better feedback.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. Unless you changed the sensitivity in the options I can't think of any reason for the difference in power between the two modes. Dragging across half of the screen should be full power regardless.

I have been back and forth on the direction that the controls should work. You can change it (even per player) in the options menu. If enough people say they expect it to work like you (I agree) then I will change the default back.

Cheers again, enjoy.

I may have changed that by accident, I'll have to check.

Anyone play Battleheart? That game looks amazing also.

I've played it. Highly recommend it.

You basically control your team of heroes (typical RPG classes: tank, healer, DPS, mage but there are a variety) against waves of monsters. There are I believe 3 active skills for each (as you level up you gain more, you start off with one) and you can there are build trees for each class to customize how your characters play.

It should keep you occupied for a while, I had a lot of fun with it. There might be a lot of grinding though (at least for me but that's cause I suck at micromanaging)

Today's 25-cent app is another one from the 49-cent app list, Camera Zoom FX. I recommend checking for reviews from people who have the same model of phone as you, since some of the app's features may not work with some phones.

Looking at the banner on the front page (2 Days to Play), it sounds like tomorrow will be the last day of the sale, and possibly the last 25-cent app deal as well.

I agree with what Goober said, HOWEVER, the developer, Mika Mobile, has abandoned Android altogether. Since the game has not been updated since release, compared to the iOS version, it is clearly the 'inferior' version, with fewer classes and no balance updates. If that doesn't bother you, it's still a pretty fun, albeit grindy game.

That sucks. Battleheart is one of my favorite mobile games. I read their statement on it.I wish Google would find a way to allow larger app downloads. It's a hassle for developers and consumers.

So, the sale is about to end (I think?), and so far I've bought SwiftKey X, Shadowgun (yeah, again) and Cut the Rope. Thinking about getting Sprinkle, the demo was pretty cool. What else should I get before the sale is over? Is Dead Space good? Worth getting even if you haven't played DS 1 & 2?

Self-quote-bumping, because the sale is almost over!

EDIT: Ah, what the hell, bought Dead Space too. But I don't want Modern Combat 3, right?

EDIT 2: Dead Space is pretty impressive. Almost feels like a consol-quality title (the intro sequence looks so good I thought it was pre-rendered at first), and controls surprisingly well.

Today's 25-cent app is TuneIn Radio Pro.

As I mentioned yesterday, it looks like this might be the final day of the sale.

EDIT: Also, it looks like Colosseum dropped to 25 cents.

Bought TuneIn.
And WTF I just bought Colosseum yesterday!

Do you recommend Shadowgun?

For those that are on the fence, They Need To Be Fed is an amazing little plat former that's reminded me of a 2d Mario Galaxy more than once. I bought it when it first came out (last year I think for $.99) and it's well worth the dollar, much less .25!

What phone do you have? Apparently this is worthless if you have a sidekick, Droid x2, or a Droid 3 because a lot of people are having issues. I feel that EA just releases shit on Android even if they are suppose to be good games because the games end up being buggy in some way

And bought it! Thanks.

Still undecided about that password manager app.

I have some challenges which it would be really fantastic to get some feedback on in my Pool game.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13593420/TotalPool.apk

If you have an android device and fancy trying it out it'd be really useful, even better would be if I could get some criticism on the challenges that are in there: Were they fun? Were any particularly good, any particularly awful? Anything you'd like to see in the challenge mode?

So far there are just 40 of a planned 210....ugh, I think I may save some of the work for post-release updates.

Xperia Play question - why can't I access the Playstation Store? I can't find many (read: any) of the Playstation 1 games, barring Crash, which came with my phone, and I can't seem to access many of the games that are supposed to be accessible via the launcher.

When I press "More Games" in the Xperia Play menu, I get a small list of games that aren't the ones I'm looking for, and furthermore all I can do is use the V Cast Apps section to find more. And I get sent to V Cast Apps if I want to buy any of the games in "More Games" anyways.

Why is this?

:(

No one?

In case anyone wants to help out there is a newer version for download.

At .99 is really tempting... but is it good?

So far so good for me. I mean it's Monkey Ball so it is good as long as the controls are. it's a little jarring at first tilting because you are moving the whole screen obviously, but it feels like classic Monkey Ball to me.

As for the pool game, I just downloaded it and will give feedback.

At .99 is really tempting... but is it good?

It...not bad. It's "modern" monkey ball so don't expect the super challenging level design of the original console SMB. It's fun and functional...and totally worth 99¢ in my opinion.

A few things you might want to know before purchasing:

Only uses tilt controls. No option for on-screen analog stick or anything like that.
Requires ~600mb storage additional to the initial app download.
I detect a slight bit of slowdown on the more complex parts of some levels. (I'm playing it on an OG Asus Transformer FYI)

On the plus side it has the Monkey Target mini-game (albeit a simpler version than the originals).

EDIT: Oh. I see you've already bought it. Heh.

So dudes, I've been looking all over the internet trying to find a competent 3D RPG for Android but I can't seem to find anything ): Any recommendations or something?

Edit: Also why is GTA3 locked from the Xperia Arc? I've been watching some Youtube videos of people playing it on the thing and it seems to run pretty well. WHAT GIVES, ROCKSTAR? On that note, any word regarding Chinatown Wars? Played it a bit on my old iPhone and it was pretty damn sweet.

I don't know if they qualify as 3D, but the later Zenonia games and Destinia are pretty good games if you can get past the excessive grind.... they are free :P

I loathe the Zenonia titles actually way too grindy, battles are just button mashing and there's not enough good loot too push me on like in, let's say, Torchlight.
Also the fact that most "music" in the game is 15 seconds with horribly obvious looping makes me dislike it even more. I had the exact same issues with Destinia, but even more so that the world is isometric, but movement is standard up down left right.

I found a pretty sweet RPG from Kemco though! Simple graphics but it has a job system and pretty sweet music for a mobile RPG.

Cheers, look forward to hearing your feedback.

Just spent a couple of hours trying to figure out why my game wouldn't run on 2.1 or 2.2 on the emulator...came back to it after eating and it works fine....ugh not trusting that thing again.

So far I'm very impressed. The graphics are very good for a top down pool game, buttery smooth too. Presentation is simple but I really like it, especially where you put menus and buttons. I really like the physics too, you absolutely nailed it.

The only criticism I had at first was that it was tough to get hard/fast shots when the ball is at the edge of the screen, and then I accidentally shot the cue from another part of the screen and realized that you could pull back the shot from any part of the screen. This is ingenious and should be made more clear in the tutorial, maybe a video demonstration?

I haven't had time to try the challenges yet but I will.

Bingo! Was coming to comment on this very thing.

Thanks very much, it's been a lot of work. Some of the early versions were extremely rough!

Ok this is definitely something I need to do something about, I don't think a single person has got it, for good reason. I was hoping the tutorial would fix this as it forces you to do the moving ball, which stops you from taking a shot, but I think this is just extra confusing for people. I will work on this, cheers.

As desperate as I am to release this having people test in beta is hopefully really good for the end product.

edit: Today I cleared up some presentational issues, notably previous high scores in challenges, stars animate when collected, and the 2 player options menu should be a lot clearer. The main remaining things are level creation and balance and a big audio pass.
