Coke and strippers? If I were in Mannings shoes I'd have trouble not going full Kenny Powers. Not proud of myself, but that's how it is.

Then he'd have more incentives, less guaranteed.
I don't see the comparison between the Eagles and the 49ers "dream team" stuff.
If Peyton is healthy, they have the smartest QB in the league, a good RB, and the best defense in the league. You can easily reach the Super Bowl with that crew.
The Eagles had a bunch of big name free agents that were overpaid for their position.
I know Denver and Tennessee can afford that...can SF (Probably)?
Sure. Understandable.brentech said:Again, not making any claim that they'll win it, but it would set them up to not be a surprise like last year.
Far from it. Just making the point that paper champions or offseason "best" teams rarely end up winning it all as folks claim they will. Personally, I think Peyton to the Niners would make a formidable team with that defense which is impressive to begin with.Damn why u so salty already?
Which is meaningless. Like I said. Do you know what meaningless means? (there's some salt!)FrenchMovieTheme said:It just means on paper this is the best team.
edit: Stop it, Plinko. I want to at least sign him before we get jinxed.![]()

I'd agree, but you are set to face more formidable opponents with your schedule and being in the nfc. Sounds like a shoe-in to sign him at this point, no sarcasm either. We are a formidable team with or without peypey.... Unlike most of the other teams involved
I think Buckethead broke his laptop after his shitty pick played like shit and lost to my brilliant pick.
Sucks to suck!!

Sort of like the Pats of '07? The underlying point is that everyone that hops into this thread and says "oh man, that put them right over the top! They'll win an SB with xx" is saying nothing at all.
No team is unbeatable. Period. Top seeding, media favorites or perceived superiority means only so much in the NFL.
Wonder if Montana or Young are helping the Niners recruit Manning. Please make this happen.
I don't disagree. I think you're in the best position to add Peyton and remain a contender for the time he's there. Though given the relative weakness of both the NFC West and AFC West, the same argument could be made for the Broncos in a lot of ways.FrenchMovieTheme said:We are a formidable team with or without peypey.... I'm sorry, I just don't know how much I buy into the pressure argument. If your team doesn't have enough "pressure" to win the Super Bowl already, then why are they taking the field and what are the coaches doing? Good coaches make sure the team expectations are set in the locker room, in team meetings and in the position meetings that go on every week as they prepare for their opponents. Not in the newspapers, forums and blogs.Skiesofwonder said:They will be picked by everyone and their grandma to win the SuperBowl. Anything else will be a major disappointment. The pressure to win it all will be at a height like none other.
The numbers help defend those who question bringing in Manning. I ok with doing so for the right price. However, we should not discount the risk. The 9ers would be changing their offense AGAIN for the what 8th or 9th time since 2005? Every player except for Manning would have to relearn an offense including the HC and OC
They would be an awesome regular season team for sure, but I've seen Peyton shut down in the playoffs by good defenses too many times to consider them a lock for anything else.I don't see the comparison between the Eagles and the 49ers "dream team" stuff.

Titans and Denvers offers are similar from what I understand. Titans offer more money upfront, Denver spaces it out over 5 years. Im not sure if any ownership made it in as rumored. Can't sleep on SF though, they are the team we could be in a few years with some good choices. They are further along. So far it doesn't seem like the 49ers are in serious contention. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't initiated by the Manning camp to help with contract negoatiations
I think its gonna be Tennessee or Denver. I wouldn't be surprised if Tennessee is throwing the kitchen sink at him, but I'd like to think Denver impressed Peyton with their commitment to winning, organizational stability, high-quality facilities, etc. Not to mention Denver is beautiful and seems like the type of place Peyton would really enjoy.
I'm not saying Elway is the best GM out there but its pretty obvious he's no Matt Millen. The guy knows what he's doing, and he's built a staff around him that seems very stable and understands what it takes to win.
And if they don't land Peyton, I'd like to see if/how much Tebow improves this offseason.
I think with Texans losing some guys makes it a bit closer. I'm not entirely sure though, MechDX, Smokey, or Squicken would have an answer.I didn't watch many Titans games last year, will the addition of Manning be enough to make them into favorites in the AFC South? (Depending of course on the rest of the Texans off-season)
I was going to say this more or less. Nothing wrong with a little predicting and prognosticating in the off season.Damn why u so salty already? Do you know what the term favorite means? It doesn't mean a guarantee. It just means on paper this is the best team. I doubt we get peypey anyways!
Hey look, it's every post about the Eagles from last year's thread.
Kolb just got paid
According to SI.com draft analyst Tony Pauline, Burfict was not good in position drills at the Sun Devils Friday workout, and Pauline acknowledged that hes watering that down. One scout told Pauline he actually felt bad for [Burfict].
Burfict managed only 16 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. With poor measurables and game tape, and suspect on- and off-the-field character, Burfict may struggle to be drafted at all in April.
Anyone see this?

I can't remember a player who had this bad a downward spiral in the past couple of years. From a possible 1st/2nd rounder to now possibly going undrafted.

I still remember when some people were saying he's a more promising ILB from college than Patrick Willis was. That lasted lol.Anyone see this?

Has here ever been a case where a young immature NFL player who whined and bitched about not getting paid, got paid stupid money and suddenly became more mature and a better person?
Because I'm saying it right now about DeSean Jackson.
How much of that is guaranteed money?
People are never going to learn to stop crowning champions in the preseason, are they?

Manning first visited the Broncos March 9, followed by a visit to the Cardinals, but there were other unreported developments last weekend, such as the Seattle Seahawks parking a jet at an airport in the Denver area in a failed attempt to visit with the quarterback, according to sources.

It gets complicated because Manning and Smith share the same agent, Tom Condon, so they’ll have to be playing this straight up: Alex offered X, Peyton offered X+, and no secrets from either one.
I didn't know Alex Smith and Peyton Manning have the same agent...
IRC he is Tebow's agent as well.
I think they share the same sports agency, but not the same agent.
This Peyton thing really needs to finish up this weekend.
