In 2010 Arian Foster rushed for 1,616 yards.
In that year Mike Brisiel (originally undrafted) only started 9 of those games. The backup who will now fill his position, Antione Caldwell, started 7 of those games.
Also during that season Duane Brown (Left Tackle and best lineman on our team) was suspended for 4 games and Rashaad Butler started in his place. During those 4 games Arian had two 100+ yard rushing games. Rashaad will be replacing Eric Winston at right tackle. Winston had serious issues with speed rushers so any replacement will not be a big drop off in the pass blocking department. Plus, the more Peter King hyped up Eric Winston the more I felt better about thinking the guy was not all that good.
Also, 2010 was Wade Smiths ( the left guard ) first year with the Texans. He was basically a lowly rated spare part Kansas City cast off that ended up excelling in our system.
Is offensive line continuity important? I guess, but if you have watched the Texans at all since Kubiak has taken over you should feel comfortable knowing that the system is productive and offense lineman friendly if you are willing to cut block. In addition to that you also would have also noticed Arian Foster does a great job of making the o-line look good (yes he is that special).
Retaining Chris Meyers at Center is the key since he is in charge of the offense line calls.
Did I mention in 2008 Steve Slaton rushed for over 1,200 yards with Kasey Studdard as starting left guard.
Yeah, I think we will be just fine.
