Garafolo tweeted Mario Manningham very close to signing with the Rams. I am curious to see what the numbers on the deal are. It should be a good signing for a quality number two wide receiver. Depending on how much they gave him of course.

Edit: voice dictation on the new iPad is pretty sweet. No need to bother typing on the crappy keyboard.

Are they signing him as a 1 or a 2?

With the crazy contracts out there my guess is 3 years/25 million/10 guaranteed.

How much did Seattle give up for Whitehurst? and how much did they pay for him.....not including grooming expenses.

also I'm sure I'm the only person out there that thinks Volek could start for some of these other teams in the league.

Dolphins or Browns should trade for him....or should've f'n signed him when he was a free agent last year. :/

Speaking of Volek...

Michael Gehlken ‏ @UTgehlken

#Chargers have released Billy Volek. Whitehurst now the No. 2 quarterback behind Rivers.
Go for it Dolphins!

Continuity on the line is more important than signing one guy, you are in for a rude shock if u think losing Winston and Briesel doesn't matter,

Rashad Butler and Antoine Caldwel (needs more playing time)l are not bad players. I don't see them having any issues sliding these two guys into the starter roles. Briesel missed some games last year and Texans run game was fine if I recall. Plus the draft, who knows.

Winston is overrated, nice guy, but bleh whatever.

Myers was far more important.

Losing Briesel hurts no doubt, but they need Myers more and couldn't afford both.

WHAT? for Whitehurst?

Volek must've *asked* for his release.

poor Alex just got some competition in the free agent market. I'll get killed by my fellow 9er fans...but if my life depended on it, I'd start Volek over Alex in a game.

Oh, just saw that the Cowboys re-signed Kevin Ogletree. With Marty B gone I was getting worried that Dez will be the only one left who doesn't the know the play call or where to line up. Thanks for easing my worries Jerry.

RT @AlbertBreer: Per league sources, Peyton Manning has informed clubs that he plans on making decision on his future on Monday or Tuesday.

Looks like Manning will make his decision in 3 or 4 days... >_< I really didn't want to wait that much longer.

So...um....yeah....

How many days till football season again?

Or at least opening day of the baseball season? With two wildcards, Boston's virtually assured of at least making it to the playoffs every year. Though they may lose and be out after one game too.

Butler will replace Winston. He has already subbed for Brown and played really well. Caldwell will step into the RG spot.

Myers is the key. He is the one who calls the assignments at the line in conjuction with Schaub. Texans o line will be a fine not lose a beat. Arian to go full blown fucking beast mode again!

Now we need a #2 WR.....

In 2010 Arian Foster rushed for 1,616 yards.

In that year Mike Brisiel (originally undrafted) only started 9 of those games. The backup who will now fill his position, Antione Caldwell, started 7 of those games.

Also during that season Duane Brown (Left Tackle and best lineman on our team) was suspended for 4 games and Rashaad Butler started in his place. During those 4 games Arian had two 100+ yard rushing games. Rashaad will be replacing Eric Winston at right tackle. Winston had serious issues with speed rushers so any replacement will not be a big drop off in the pass blocking department. Plus, the more Peter King hyped up Eric Winston the more I felt better about thinking the guy was not all that good.

Also, 2010 was Wade Smiths ( the left guard ) first year with the Texans. He was basically a lowly rated spare part Kansas City cast off that ended up excelling in our system.

Is offensive line continuity important? I guess, but if you have watched the Texans at all since Kubiak has taken over you should feel comfortable knowing that the system is productive and offense lineman friendly if you are willing to cut block. In addition to that you also would have also noticed Arian Foster does a great job of making the o-line look good (yes he is that special).

Retaining Chris Meyers at Center is the key since he is in charge of the offense line calls.

Did I mention in 2008 Steve Slaton rushed for over 1,200 yards with Kasey Studdard as starting left guard.

Yeah, I think we will be just fine.

Suck it up, man! Some of us were waiting all freakin week! My soul is free, free!

Feels so good to not have to keep up on this shit anymore, was consuming too much time. Now I pray that the team grabs a quality FA or two to salvage our FA period. If we at least get Bell so Levi plays RT, I'll be ecstatic. Bell and Manningham would have me loving it.

I like the way you think sir. Do you have a newletter I can subscribe to?

Now, sign a FA #2 WR and draft Konz from Wisconsin to play RG. Keep the train from Wisconsin to Houston going!

LOL, no but I have a good pulse for the team. Shelley Smith is a sleeper at backup guard so keep an eye on him. I watched quite a few Notre Dame games this year and Floyd was someone I was targeting 3 months ago as first round draft pick but after the combine I think the cat is out of the bag. Moving forward if we can find another OLB, a kicker who has enough leg to kick 45+ yard field goals, a backup swing tackle, and a solid receiver I think we'll be just fine.

A new punt returner would be nice as well.

would you start

Mark Sanchez
Matt Moore
Colt McCoy
Tarvaris Jackson
Rex Grossman
John Beck
Lil Bro McCown

over him?

these players were all slated to start or competing for a starting role last year, when Volek was a free agent.

maybe a tossup between beck and mccown. everyone else i wouldn't hesitate to start over volek

For some reason Mario decided to go nuts on Twitter and bash Jerome Solomon, which is weird, b/c Solomon is the only person in town who always defended. To steal a joke, Mario would be unstoppable if cared as much about football as he did his his Twitter beef

Don't know much about this C from GB. Rodgers said he was a smart dude, and Andrew Brandt said he was a super intense dude. I like both of those things, even though I'm sure they overpayed. Stephen Jackson basically called former C Jason Brown a lazy moron last season

Evan Silva from NBC said that Manningham is the type to get lazy once he gets paid. Don't like the sound of that

Gun to your head....no 9er defense, no 9er special teams...

one game....who you going to trust.

check out Volek's game logs...he only had 2 bad games in 2004 when was giving a legit chance at playing. He put up points even though his team D' was bad.....can't trust Alex to do that, not with my life.

since then he has been preseason HOFer. Stuck behind Phillip Rivers.

teams have 6 years of footage on alex smith. how much did they have on volek? alex smith isn't great but i'll take him everyday over volek. alex has won in the playoffs and had really good numbers last year.

if you want to pull a 400 yard game (in a loss) out of the hat then we might as well sign kolb or flynn. alex is a quality qb who will always be a piece of the pie, not the centerpiece of a team

have you guys seen Volek play horrible? enough to just believe he would be a bad QB with a ok team?...or is it just because you never hear of the guy so he must be horrible, compared to these other QBs who obviously help lose games for their teams. We have Seen these QBs play horrible more often than not.

its not like he was in a situation to compete for a starting spot these past few years..... he got a raw deal when he was with the Titans, just so Alex Smi...er Vince Young didn't have to look over his shoulder...and got traded to the Chargers.... meh, every preseason game i've seen from him, he still has an arm and completes passes.

bro i've seen volek play in our pre-season finale for like 5 years straight. i'm sorry but he is nothing more than a journeyman backup who yes, can put up a 300+ yard game now and again but do you HONESTLY believe he would have won the saints game or the giants game for us? sorry, but no. i have no confidence in billy volek at all. alex smith has shown me that if he is backed into a corner he can produce. he has done this quite a few times. he had 5 comeback victories in the 4th quarter last year. he has done this a few times over the years so i will take alex 8 days a week over volek

I hope this random point guard the Vikes signed turns into one of those flukish superstars.

Just about anything will be good at this point for their backfield but he runs a 4.27 so thats pretty damn impressive.

He's a good dancer.

That's a team need. They just cut their best dancer.

we should've blown out the Saints by half time with all those turnovers. And in the Giants game Alex did not play well.

Alex has had to have 4th QTR comebacks because he doesn't do his part in putting teams away when he has a chance....he has been HORRIBLE at 3rd conversions ALL YEAR and it finally came back to bite us in the ass in the Championship game.

he was 1-13 on 3rd down conversions...and the only conversion he got was a meaningless 20yard pass on the last play before half time, when the F'n Pass should've been thrown into the endzone for a jump ball.

Why would the Panthers be signing Tolbert? I know there is the Rivera connection, but they have very little cap room and have enough between Stewart and Williams.

I dont have any idea about their contracts, but I would assume if they sign Tolbert that they are going to release one of them. Probably Williams. And it wouldn't surprise me to see Williams head straight to Denver.
