They took them out asap. Fortunately, someone ripped them.

The video aren't terribly exciting...just zone overviews. Looks like a lot of greenery this time around, which is a good thing. The last few expansions have been desolate, and I'm up for a change in scenery.

The Scarlet Monastery/Scholomance video gives me nostalgia chills.

Heroic SM could be pretty cool. That shit was hard back in the day.

I feel sorry for their environments team, who does good work, when all those blocky low res character models wearing putrid looking armor are dropped into them

Appealing 2012 environments with a bunch of people wearing reskinned armor from 2004.

SM was fun back in the day, but they've already said they're using 4.3s design philosophy for heroics. Which means it is impossible for you to die and dungeons will be 15 minutes long with 7.5 of those minutes being for cutscenes and waiting for scripting

Specially the first time around when most players didn't clear that church first before doing something else lol...good times.

Ok sorry...carry on :P

Part of the appeal of Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm was the sense of danger and urgency. Mists of Pandaria looks way too calm. The stakes should be really high at endgame. We haven't seen everything yet though.

New zones look good. Wasn't really planning to come back to WoW with MoP but with how utterly dismal the rest of the MMORPG scene has been I'll probably wind up trying it.

Can't believe how lackluster the Scarlet Monastery and Scholomance updates look though. They shouldn't have even tried if that's the result.

Looks like Guild Wars' Pre-Searing Ascalon.

Showcases what was lost since classic. Part of the enjoyment of clearing Scarlet Monastery was banding up outside the gates to clear the elites on your way in (or hoping someone else had done it for you).

Now, you'll sit at the auction house (or screw around with your solo daily quests) and be teleported with 4 players from another server when your queue is up.

They didn't even really show anything. The biggest parts of the DM/SFK updates were the boss fights and unit mechanics, I doubt they really want to spoil that in a teaser video.

Also, while I agree with your sentiment, no one ever did this. You could easily run past them all and probably have the rest of your group begging for a summon.

Streamlining killed the adventure.

This only goes to show that other character models better be updated this time around. Those pandas look awesome. Humans in legacy armor, not so much.

Heroic Scarlet Monastery and Scholomance look incredible. The zones look okay I guess, but they are almost empty of mobs so I can't really judge yet.

Purely speaking of it from a visual perspective. Scarlet Monastery's geometry in particular really needed some kind of update. It is a very flat, narrow, and simple space that simply doesn't hold up. It seems like they added some windows and called it a day.

I'm cool with streamlining, I'm not quite as cool with horrible game and dungeon design and a bunch of recycled features and visuals. Still, I think this will be better than cataclysm, nothing can be worse than cataclysm.

That said wow, and most modern MMOs, are streamlined to the point where the MMO part just gets in the way. Getting extremely difficult to justify fees for any of the current batch.

Just doesn't really do it for me. Where is the big bad guy in this expansion?

Under wraps. We know there is one, they just want players to focus on something else up front. Presumably because they've overhyped and underdelivered on the boxart villain three expansions in a row now.

Probably won't be getting this. Expansion looks like it really doesn't add or push anything forward, seems like they are keeping with the philosophy of making everything super easy, and not updating the character models is just fucking ridiculous at this point.

How come I was never even addicted to WoW but every time a new expansion comes out I want to play? Whyyyyyy

Because its fun to gobble up all the new content before the stupidity of wow's end game kicks in.

At least that's how it was in the past, for as bad as cata ended up it had a fun launch window. On this one though, with a few of the turns they're taking I think ill just pass, too much other interesting stuff on the horizon

I think i'm finally cured.

Watched the footage and it did nothing for me. If anything, I was bored, none of the zones look that unique.

But I'm like level 17. I don't even understand.

I dunno then! For me the fun of a new expansion is because, especially post BC, they barely add shit during a live expansion, so you got a big crate of new stuff to see after a lot of stagnantation.

Or if your class is broken or something is fucked up, they also like to fix several years worth of issues in one, gargantuan 40 dollar swoop instead of, yknow, actual work on the product you already paid for.

God, those videos got such an itch going to go explore that stuff. Exploration was always my favorite part of MMOs (and the lack of it lately is a big reason I haven't played MMOs in forever). But yeah, not going to buy an expansion and resub for a month just to look around.

Well the Heroic Scholomance really has me intrigued. I was hoping to see new character models but I won't count on it. Oh well... just another day and some hours and that pesky NDA will be lifted.

That said, if anyone needs a scroll of ressurection in NA send me a PM.
