What the heck did I just play. :/
Yeah I'll be there too but I'll be pouting like a 10 year old girl the whole time unless the ending's fixed. Even with this ending it would at least be something if all the war assets you gathered made some sort of difference in the space battle above Earth and the London parts. At the very least show me some extra cutscene footage that shows some of the more special assets I obtained.
Does anyone think BioWare intentionally gave us a depressing ending so that in ME4, they can introduce new space-travel tech and new types of abilities, powers, etc?

One of the most bothersome things in ME3 was the Geth.
ME2 Legion: We wish to self-determinate, and refused the Old Machines gifts
ME3 Legion: Uh oh, Quarians are here! Better get help from the Old Machines that hate us.
It's not depressing. The end was to deliver everyone from the Reapers and their tech -- except for Control in which the Reapers remain but their mass relays are gone, which doesn't make sense because then the Shepard-controlled Reaper fleet could simply recreate them again.Does anyone think BioWare intentionally gave us a depressing ending so that in ME4, they can introduce new space-travel tech and new types of abilities, powers, etc?

I don't know, it was the Crucible energy wave what vaporizes humans on Earth, so think the same happens across the galaxy. Nobody survives in the Normandy either, for example. That ending doesn't exist though.
Earth gets blown up, but everything else seemed to be fine.
Self preservation. They knew they couldn't beat the Quarians, so it was either side with the reapers, or be destroyed. Their beef with the reapers was philosophical, you can look past philosophy in the face of destruction.

I even played the multiplayer to fill that stupid bar for sure. There were several points in ME3 when I couldn't wait to see how the allies I'd gained would affect the Awesome Final Battle. Instead, those Geth Prime units and Rachni hordes just ended up as part of a number, never to be heard from again.
according to Hudson and Walters they didn't even want to make post-ME3 games, with future Mass Effect games taking place during or before ME3.
To me it's all about the journey, hence why the ending has no effect on me.I'll say this: In this series it matters more, because of the emphasis on choice and tailoring your own story, even though they don't carry over when they have the potential to influence the scenario.
I don't usually replay game. I move on to the next thing right away. I'd rather read articles on a game or reminisce than outright start it up again. That, if at all, comes usually much later. I started ME1 and ME2 up right after I finished them, just to see what happens if I did things differently. I bought every piece of DLC for ME2, however inane (and justified it with left over BW points, I'm weak).
I have no such desire for ME3. The ending just deflated my interest in playing the game again. Aside from a bunch of relatively minor niggles it was great, up until the ending. I won't be touching any DLC after this, that's for sure. I might watch Youtube videos of some scenes to see how they play out in different configurations.
tl;dr: The series always had minor to major faults, but I liked it a lot despite all those. The ending to ME3 sent it off the edge for me.

Thank God for Internet hyperbole. I set my expectations astronomically low for the ending, thanks to the venomous fervor surrounding it.
I'm actually OK with it, for the most part. I only wish the actual end cinematic wasn't a measly four minutes long.
Which in itself is a plot hole, seeing kiddyboy said that Synthetics will destroy Organics, yet the Geth/Quarian war is nearly the opposite and goes against everything he says.
I'm pretty sure most people loved the rest of the game as well.

Only in the worst ending (everyone dies).

Luckily, the journey is brilliant. And though it may not have had an affect on you, the ending does affect others. Have a little empathy for those who have been left depressed, I guess. To me it's all about the journey, hence why the ending has no effect on me.

Pre-ME3, Geth out-matched Quarians in every way. Quarians recieved a massive upgrade in Military strength even between ME2 and ME3, which is never explained.
Neither species is limited by the Treaty of Farixen, but Geth should of had the advantage.

Did you go back and replay the end to see the other cinematics?Thank God for Internet hyperbole. I set my expectations astronomically low for the ending, thanks to the venomous fervor surrounding it.

I don't understand this part of your post, sorry.oh, so now space magic is suddenly not there, huh?
Not really serious about that, but you need to see that there is no relationship between EMS and the existence of space magic. It couldn't be related. Not in the fiction, not in the real.
Not in the worst one. That said, you see the door just starting to open afaik. There are survivors on the Normandy in every ending, I think.
First time I have heard this and well that's just stupid.
Its like Bioware just wants to keep rubbing salt in my wounds. I have no interest playing in the ME universe before humans arrived or during ME1-3 either. So that leaves a window from first contact war to the 30 or 40 years(?) til ME begins.
No thanks Bioware.
The journey's fine, yeah, but it would do wonders for my motivation if the entire thing had a satisfying conclusion as well. A rounded out experience is always preferable to me.To me it's all about the journey, hence why the ending has no effect on me.

That too: Any speculation on this? They actually make a point on telling you.
Doubtful. If anything I see ME4 being a prequel, possibly the Contact Wars or something around the formation of Cerberus and background into TIM.

Just give me a game where you play the Illusive Man or Cerberus and it's day one. Easily the most interesting characters and story in the series. Kinda like a Resident Evil game where you play from Umbrella's perspective.
I think that you're supposed to presume they increased their military strength to fight the geth.
This seems to be the worst possible ending, and it has the Normandy in the strange planet.I don't understand this part of your post, sorry.
Not in the worst one.
They did find a weakness in the Geth's programming or networking or some such, hence the offensive. I don't remember what it was exactly, but it's what drove the Geth to seek aid from the reapers, they couldn't counter it otherwise. That too. Any speculation on this?
They say as much, but I am asking how. They make a point of telling you that they actually have some advanced technology and ships they probably shouldn't have. Maybe I'm misremembering, but I don't think so.

The percentage was somewhere around 80% for ME2.65% played soldier in ME3? It's like playing a storm trooper when you could play as Jedi.
I even played the multiplayer to fill that stupid bar for sure.
Sigh.
playing around with the final hours app.
54% of people imported from ME1 on 360 while 87.2% of people have customized faces. A lot of fury about not importing faces I bet.

Sorry, you'll get a Kai Leng adventure instead.
