Mists of Pandaria Media Blowout [NDA lifted!]

Valor Points are completely reworked. They are no longer a currency for actual items, but something you use to (repeatedly) augment the ilvl of your gear. Details are still being worked out as to how many times players can bump up the ilvl, or what happens when players hold onto an ancient item for the stat combinations.

Whhhhhhat? This is new news. From Wowhead. Pretty dramatic departure.

Also, for lore nerds:

Soul Savior: Defeat Lillian Voss without allowing Lilllan's Soul to reach 24% health in Scholomance on Heroic Difficulty.

So you do fight her. But not kill her apparently. Interesting things going on in Scholomance.

The first and specially last one are OP as hell.

I made the mistake of playing WoW non-stop (like 8 hours a day) for 3 months, I really loved the game and it became an obsession. I was really sad that everyone just told me to rush to 80 so I could raid or whatever, but I wanted to experience all the content from the game! In the end I did manage to get to 80 with a priest and all I did was queue up for dungeons and install a mod so I could keep everyone alive... by looking 90% of the time at floating bars. In the end I was really tired and bored of doing the same thing over and over.

I was told that all of this would change with Cata so my guild mates convinced me to get it. I payed 65€ for a Vanilla to Cata upgrade, played for a couple more months and then school and work happened (I had been unemployed for almost a year). I simply didn't have time to play the game anymore.

Hey, bro... don't do the same mistake for Diablo 3, you hear me :p? Your first run through normal should be slow - let it all sink in and enjoy!

The Tillers faction will let you run your own farm! The farmer's market will provide daily quest to improve your farm every day, you will be able to clear plots of land and plant things like cooking ingredients, herbalism nodes, gifts for NPCs to build your reputation... etc.

Haha :D

Don't worry mate, I played the original Diablo 1 & 2 for hundreds of hours combined and never grew bored or tired of it. It's just Diablo, it's impossible for me to hate it.

The Panda mount is a cloud serpent? How the hell is that gonna work? Its a snake with wings for fucks sake, do you just grab the tail and hang on for dear life? Certainly no place for a saddle. I really wanna see how this works...

What the shit!? Wow man that could be awesome. At least in theory, would be great if I could use old gear with this. Bringing my Hunter 2pc tier 5 up to current ilvl would be amazing for soloing old content.

Will probably be similar to that gold monstrosity they put in for pay a few weeks back.

Haha. I will BLAST through D3's normal mode and then replay it again and again and again - maybe EVEN FASTEEER! :D

I let the real exploration to start in Nightmare.

Oh, and to be on the topic: I will be here from day1, as always - and it will be with a Monk. Always trying new tank classes, as I love doing that the most in WoW for some weird reason.

You and me same bro, I was just recommending him something (that I'm not going to try :p) that he might like ♥

Ah, I see : ) Luckily, there are no green health bars to stare in Diablo III - the introduction of Holy Trinity there would have killed the entire genre, honestly.

It's not like I'm spending and hour on each map or something, it's just I like exploring every last metre of every map, doing all the side quests, reading (or listening rather) to all the books and lore and just take my sweet time to enjoy the lore part of the game before turning it into the deliberate loot fest and end-game roulette it is.

Monks look so fantastic. Funny to see that they already gave up on the 'no auto attack' haha.

It would have been crazy hard to balance I'd imagine.

No item squish is a bummer. The way numbers and stats are going, they are losing all sense of meaning.

Albeit, the change was cosmetic, so it's not a big deal.

I'm really interested to see how the story leading up to Garrosh plays out - I wasn't expecting that at all.

Ahh fuck. I'm going to have to resubscribe, am I?

Also Yoshi, the 4.0 heroics were ezpz if people knew what they were doing.

I understand Horde stopping Garrosh to get Orgrimmar back, but what's stopping the Alliance to just destroy the entire city while they are there. Interesting to see how it turns out.

I think the point is that they weren't Dungeon Finder easy for the general populace. Especially coming off leveling and tending to be weaker than you would be if the same difficulty was presented in a patch tier. They were more akin to Halls of Reflection than say, Trial of the Champion.

I don't think there would have been as much bitching about them if dungeon finder wasn't around, but that's pretty much a moot argument.

... yes? That's the whole point of how heroics worked pre-nerf. There's a difference between someone making ONE mistake and therefore causing the whole party to wipe - and someone making TWO HUNDRED mistakes and then causing no one else but himself to die. The latter being how heroics works right now, after approximately 600 nerfs.

Just saying that they weren't hard, just needed loads of CC. But man those nerfs seem bad. The 4.0 heroics at least required you to be awake.

No. They required everyone else in your party to be awake. One false move and it was a wipe. No idea how people find that fun. So many failed groups and so much waiting....

They were hard, stop kidding around. If you make one mistake and that's enough to cause party wipes, then it's considered "hard" on the WoW-scale. I spent more hours trying to beat General Umbris and (Grim Batol) Valliona than I did when I beat Firelands Rag and Madness the first time (or any boss in DS for that matter).

EverQuest did it 11 years ago with a smaller team. Why it hasn't been a priority is frankly baffling.

And when Everquest did it it was met with mixed reviews AT BEST (the vast majority of the playerbase hated them). This is one of the reasons Blizz has been reluctant, because ultimately it's hard to increase the poly count and fix the animations significantly without making it not feel like it's your character anymore.

Also, not really a fair comparison in terms of the amount of animation at work here. load up the wowmodel viewer sometime, wow characters have gotta have like 150 animations or some shit for each race/gender. That all needs to be redone (EQ characters had like 1/10th as many at that point in time).

I understand Horde stopping Garrosh to get Orgrimmar back, but what's stopping the Alliance to just destroy the entire city while they are there. Interesting to see how it turns out.

Maybe the horde ask for the alliance's help? knowing jaina will probably have an increased role with theramore going down and there's a book focused on her coming out, plus her relationship with thrall, seems like the kind of thing she could be involved with, especially if thrall reached out to her for help.

Well lets just say that we have different standards of hard.

Again, this will likely work out the same way the Alliance didn't destroy the Undercity during the quest to retake it in WOTLK.

This doesn't really seem farfetched to me at all. They have already flirted with something very similar. Wouldnt be surprised if some of your factions leaders tag along on that final raid just like the retake the UC quest also.

No, if you want me to talk about real "hard" difficulty then I would be discussing Absolute Virtue (FFXI) or C'thun (right after the first nerf). I'm simply implying that you need to take things in consideration when creating a difficulty-scale based of a game that is meant for casuals :).

True enough. Such a shame that "don't stand in the fire" seems to be too hard for so many people.

In a tankspot interview they mentioned they're adding a new item that you'll buy with faction tokens that'll give you chances for extra loot from raid bosses, even heroic bosses. You'll always get extra gold, but there's a chance of getting gems, flasks, and even gear. They're adding it as a way to give raiders something else to do outside of raids that'll help with progression via extra gear, but something that's completely optional.

The environments look rather nice but honestly I can't see myself getting back into the game at this point...especially not with Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 this year.

Interesting that this will be the second canon raid (Battle for UC and now this) on a Horde city.

When do I get to ransack Stormwind or Ironforge? Or the razing of Darnassus and Exodar? Aside from the multiple times I've done so for PvP achievements/funsies.

You can get a free 80 and upgrade to cataclysm.

Not interested in that, and it also goes highly against my gaming principles as having previous been playing Wow for 5+ years.

I think this year for the mmo market will be very interesting considering how long Wow has been running and the new promising mmo games that are launching. Best thing of it all? , i think Blizzard really feel this too.. More competition = better games for the consumers, win-win.

Damn those zones look fantastic, going to enjoy questing in them. Will be a nice break I suppose from dreariness in Diablo 3.

I hope its instanced so I can go and fish in instanced Orgrimmar for Old Crafty with no interruptions.

I'm disappointed that the original races aren't getting an update. As someone that only plays those races and has no interest in pandas, that's a big deal. Especially since Blizzard has promised it for years now. That would have made me buy the expansion to check it out and then I would get sucked in again. One sale less Blizzard, hope you can sleep at night!!
