Chris Hemsworth eye candy can't hurt either.
appeals to the twilight with Kristen Stewart
appeals to the man crowd with sexy ass ass Charlize Theron
I can't be the only one that thinks Snow White and the Huntsman looks like it's gonna be terrible. The only thing that trailers have is some semi-decent imagery, and that's it. The extreme seriousness displayed makes it look equally ridiculous to Mirror Mirror, but for different reasons. There's a five minute clip of the movie on youtube, it does not look good. It's so cold and detached, it's just unpleasant to me.
Straight up. That mirror is the first ever troll. Is the queen supposed to be threatened by Snow White when she's 1000x hotter?

EVERYONE saw Avatar but it doesn't have some kind of rabid teen fanbase obsessed with it like Twilight, Harry Potter, or Hunger Games.
Which reminds me, the lack of a rabid fan community obsessed with the Avatar universe and Avatar merchandise has always surprised me. There is no real large fanboy community obsessed with the universe and devoted to collecting and so forth that existed for franchises like Star Wars soon as the first film was in theaters.
The fact that merchandise sales for Avatar like action figures were a dud was strange.
Eh? I recall one or two press photo of that. You dont see teen girls squeeling about jake sully all over youtube.
I am curious on your thoughts why avatar didn't take off as a fan obsession after the release of the film the way star wars did after that initial film came out (merchandise collecting, massive immediate fanboy community).
The film was massive an everyone saw it but cultural impact has been pretty minimal, at least in America as compared to what Star Wars did after 1977.
Where were the endless kids with avatar lunchboxs and backpacks? Where were the kids making their parents buy then avatar toys? Like how it was in '78 after Star Wars. That aspect never happened. At least not here.
Well the big three were Harry Potter, Twilight, & Hunger Games and all 3 are accounted for. They can't make up one out of thin air.Disney is probably scrambling hard to find a YA novel to get the flim rights to about now.
Percy Jackson is getting a sequel despite not doing wonderfully, but you're right: Twilight, HP, and HG were/are all hits because they were already sensations. When something isn't already wildly popular (*cough* City of Ember) it seems to fail.Cheebo said:There are some more B-level YA popular franchises like Percy Jackson and Eragon but their respetive films didn't do very well.
holy fucking shit hunger games

Yup it's a monster
wow @ the last page. Movie "pros" circlejerk.
Scramble With Friends: The Movie... or, barring that, they're probably negotiating with Rovio for the film rights to Angry Birds. Hey, Rovio wants to make a film out of it...
Everyone on these forums is an expert, obviously!

Though Eragon was a pretty damn popular series, I blame the movie being utter shit for that BO performance.
I really need to finish that novel I'm working on, so I can option it out to Lionsgate and be swimming in a Olympic-sized pool of money.
I actually have an idea for a YA novel series, too. It probably owes more to Bad Boys II and Grand Theft Auto than to Hunger Games, though.
Scramble With Friends: The Movie
One of the characters is going to be married, is that okay?u better throw some romance in that shit
First off it was Sherlock Holmes, not the sequel Game of Shadows
Second did Sherlock come anywhere close to Avatar outside opening week? OK then, point proven it was nothing worthwhile in the grand scheme
In fact Avatar went unchallenged for almost 2 months till Dear John finally dethroned it at #1
4th district tribute - John Carter - killed in action by Katniss

Do you reveal the origin of the vest, or is it there from the beginning?Hopefully a studio picks up my Young Christopher Nolan young adult novels.

What are the odds of The Dark Knight Rises beating The Hunger Games in opening weekend? I took that bet blind from some people at work. But in Nolan I trust. Did I set myself up for a loss?
This is a pretty good bet, actually. There should be a thread for it. Which poster loses, has to show a real pic of themselves doing something embarrassing. Shoe on head. Buying all the hunger games books. Or something more creative.

21 Jump Street is way less rotten than I was expecting. I've had it recommended to me a couple of times too. I might check it out.
