Nvidia Kepler - Geforce GTX680 Thread - Now with reviews

The victor is already out there SSAA, it just requires an insane amount of processing power.

Except its not a victor at all. Even 8xSGSSAA can produce noticeable aliasing in motion because of the simple box filter used.

TXAA is so intriguing as it aims to do more than produce pretty still images.

Where's your liquid nitrogen, amateur.

I have heard early April - which means it could be another week. Just keep checking. I had the same issue when the 7970s launched - so while at work I just F5'd the NewEgg section where they're stocked and within a couple days of doing so I was able to snag one.

You may be right but then you need better eyes than mine to notice any aliasing with 8xSGSSAA at 1600p.....

OMG. I came a little.

Well, I have my GTX 580 1.5GB for sale if anyone is interested ($320).:) Damned upgrade bug bit me.

I may hold off for the eventual 4GB version of this card though. I'm upgrading either way though.

how come i click to see your 3dmark scores and get nothing but a blank page?

Dunno. Works for me - from multiple devices. Click on the image, then click on the "Link" text within the linked page.

Congratulations on the uber-rig.

Thanks!

Yeah, me too! Selling my 2.56 GB GTX 570 for $280 shipped, and a 1.28 GB GTX 570 for $230.

The 2.56GB GTX 570 OC's to 960/2300 stable, from 732/1900 stock. :)

Heh, good luck with that! I sold 2x MSI Twin Frozr III GTX 570 1.25GB for $375 shipped total. The market has hit the bottom...may as well just get your money so you can recoup it in a newer card!

I've always wondered how heat goes with that kind of setup? Seems like those things would catch fire with the heat being generated and the lack of space in between them to get air moving. Or is that really a non-issue?

Not really as the 680's run cooler than the 580's with less power draw. I know some folks that had 480's set up like that and talk about not needing a heater in the winter with that set up. But really, if you are running them at stock mhz or even a slight bump, from what I heard a 3 way set up like that runs pretty damn good temp wise.

That'd make sense........but how could it get past the 720p60/1080p24 limitation if the display doesn't?
I don't know..I kind of question it myself so I posted it here. I don't think it's a limitation of the tv's refresh rate, but more to do with hdmi spec 1.4 not having the bandwidth to do 1080p60 in 3d. It seems they intentionally left DVI inputs off, but I'm not a tech expert by any means.

Yeah, I'm talking about the HDMI limitation, not the display. Anyway, I guess we'll see.

I don't see a whole lot of space for the blowers to be sucking air in, do they run louder than if the card was free and clear?

Air doesn't require much space to move. The ends of the cards are tapered to allow a gap for air to flow. They don't run any louder cause blower fans run loud no matter what. Axial fans are quiet and OK for single card setup in a properly vented case but in SLI they are dumping a lot of heat inside the case and then reusing the hot air again to try and cool again.
