Revoke gets rid of a particular *cough* wurmcoil. I hate that 6/6 death touch life link wurm.

Only made it worst. I cried inside when my opponent had both out. T_T

Phantasmal Image man...ludicrously useful.

My girlfriend throws it down as a copy of her Drogskol Captains and it's pretty much game after that.

Hmm... so is Image + Hexproof a good combo or is it generally not worth the extra effort? It almost seems like putting 4 Images in your deck would be better than a lot of 2 mana creatures.

Like I said, Imaging a Drogskol Captain is an excellent and typically used 2 card combo. I've been on the receiving end of it on multiple ocassions lately and it's a bitch to deal with when you don't have any non-targeted removal at your disposal.

Wow, that does seem awesome. Too bad my only other spirit creature would be Sovereigns of Lost Alara.

Honestly having a field consisting of a handful of Drogskol Captains is enough spirits. They do well together, and buff eachother. If you want to you can throw some spirit token generators into the mix but honestly Captains and Images are the real threat there.

I'm not sure if you've modified your decklist since I last saw it but saying it's "centered around Exalted" is being a bit generous. You only have 5 cards with Exalted, with Finest Hour being a win condition and costing 6cc (it's not even that expensive, you can probably pick up a playset for <$5). Although you have Supply/Demand to fetch stuff, it is still costing you a turn just to setup your basic combo. Fable of Wolf and Owl, while a great card considering your multicolor theme, doesn't really work well with Exalted at all.

Then you have a couple of 6-7cc bombs for no clear reason!

Your deck suffers from a lack of consistency and focus. I understand that this is just for funsies, there are lots of ways it could be improved. The biggest obstacle to your deck is your multicolor rule. If you dropped that I think it could be much better.

As an example, compare your deck to this.

23 cards with "Exalted", or about 1/3rd of his deck. On a perfect hand and draw, (one or two creatures every turn ending on Finest Hour on turn 6), he can have 6-7 cards with Exalted, and a high chance of one with evasion (flying or unblockable), double swinging for 16 (Squire) or 22 (Angel). He has 4 Bant Charms and 3 Journey to Nowheres to establish board control, and Curiosity to generate card advantage thanks to its synergy with Exalted. Everything in the deck was intended to get that big Exalted guy in twice for the kill. Having this goal up front and obvious is what makes his deck "Exalted Aggro".

(I tried my best not to sound too mean but I think I failed. Please don't feel bad about it. When I played casually I also threw Treva into a W/U/G Sliver deck for no good reason other than that I liked Treva.)

Some great looking art in there and I really like the white color on all the packaging. Looks like all the Mirrodin Pure product they made up last time.

A white red intro pack? It'll be interesting to see if they've made that into an actual usable archetype.

The "hellboy" guy is Griselbrand. The demon that sealed away Avacyn and holds part of Liliana's curse.

Nah Grieselbrand is the big nasty demon with huge black horns.
I'm talking about the dapper looking red devil guy.

Wow, gorgeous box art. I might have to buy a couple of fat packs just for all the lovely boxes.

Looks like we're definitely getting some one-sided werewolves, too. Rumored but wasn't confirmed I think.

I think Avacyn is tough, but fair. While alot of folks have been pointing out several cards that deal with her, there are a bunch of popular removal cards that can't. Doom Blade, Go for the Throat, Day of Judgement, Gideon's -2, any amount of burn, Dismember. Even Tragic Slip is going to require you to either kill an indestructible creature, or lose one of your own to get morbid going.

I realize I'm a little late to this argument, I but I fully agree with this sentiment. There is absolutely no use in bringing up the list of cards that can deal with Avacyn (like Tragic Slip, Vapor Snag, Oblivion Ring...). You can bring a similar list up for almost any card ever printed in Magic. Hell, I even saw Mana Leak being brought up as an answer (NOOO SHIT). I think that Avacyn is pretty decent if she can be put out sooner than turn six. Otherwise, I would choose something else. The only way to tell will be to get a hold of her and put some miles on the card.

It is on a lot of occasions. You just have more options with it.

My U/W/B is failing to build around Avacyn. If I happen to draw Avacyn and I don't have a Melfork Looter to discard it to be able to use Unburial Rites to cast her, she's just sitting in my hands forever waiting to get played. I'm thinking you have to play a few Lillianas in this deck to be able to discard. Red may be more effective for Faithless Looting. Or just straight up G/W ramp. Right now, it just seems too much trouble to cast her out. Oh well, still brainstorming!

I'm done brainstorming on Avacyn until we see full spoilers, I think. I'm sure there will be ample support cards for her that you're going to want in any deck she's in.

After playing a lot of Magic with friends by borrowing their decks I feel like it's time to start my own but I honestly have no idea where to start. I enjoyed using blue decks a lot but I don't have a clue what to buy or where from, should I wait for the new set before jumping in?

Well, you start by giving me your address so I can send you a mess load of cards to get started with,

This time, I'll only send a box of cards at a time.

There's no reason to avoid buying Innistrad or Dark Ascension since they'll rotate out the same time Avacyn Restored will. I'd probably skip the Phyrexia block, though...depends on what formats you and your friends normally play. The most common format is standard, and New Phyrexia will rotate out at the end of the year. But if they mostly play modern (all sets released in the last several years), you can pretty much buy whatever the heck looks good to you!

If you feel like you already know the game pretty well, you might try to talk your friends into playing a few limited draft tournaments. That's a good way to build up a base of cards in your favorite colors, and it's a pretty decent way to learn deck construction (though pretty much anyone will tell you not to enter any formal limited tourneys until you know deck construction backwards and forwards).

New Phyrexia has some cards that will definitely have some legs! I don't see Elesh going too far down in price (about 15 bucks for the long haul). Beast within, Dismember, Mental Mistep, GUT SHOT.

It's not a bad set to buy a few packs with!

Yeah if his group plays modern instead of standard he's going to want some of those. It's easily the more powerful of the two blocks.

I hopped back in with Innistrad after skipping a few blocks and I've done okay just with extra commons/uncommons from friends and a few singles.

Not to mention shit is still $$$$. Swords and Splicers, Norn, the list goes on and on. I looked long and hard at a Phyrexia booster box the other day for 160. Could be a potential goldmine.

Wow really?

I know my friends play with stuff from the past few years and don't rule out cards each year at least when they play with each other. I know the deck builders toolkit exists but I wasn't sure if that would mostly be filled with useless cards or not. Do you mostly buy boxes of boosters or the decks? I know you can buy singles from certain websites too if you wanted something specific.

Ridiculous card. Outplaying my opponent, was about to win when he whips this out. Whelp, used all my removals

I have three of these I want to put in my huge creature deck! So cool.

Are there protections against counter cards that prevent you from casting cards, or, is it possible to counter a counter?

Yeah. Don't read too much into it though. It's altruistic to a point, but you'll largely be feeding my pack buying addiction. Less cards hanging around, more space for more packs.

It's a vicious cycle. So, if you want a box of cards, sleeves and whatnot, just pm me your address.

Counter spells, like every other spell, go on the stack and don't take effect until they resolve. So yes - if I cast Cancel, you can respond with a Cancel of your own, targeting my Cancel. Yours resolves first, making mine useless preventing mine from resolving.

If memory serves, there is a mechanic on a handful of spells that prevents other spells from going on the stack while they are on the stack (I believe the keyword is "Split Second" or something like that?), but those have cycled out of standard. There are also another handful of spells which specifically can't be countered.

Found all my old Magic cards at my parent's house the other day. These cards are almost 20 years old.

Sadly, the gem of my collection, Vesuvan Doppelganger, is not as rare as I had hoped being from the Revised Edition. $7 in mint instead of $400 if it was from the Alpha Edition.

Anyhoo, my monoblue Merfolk deck still plays ok, but there are so many new cards out there it's completely overwhelming.

Still a fun game to play and now that I've found this thread, I should be able to have a lot more fun through expanding my collection.

I had the same situation happen with me but my cards were from 4th edition, Ice-Age. It's strange how much the game has changed with all the new rules that have come out.

I found my old box of stuff awhile back. I originally played back in the days of Legends so I have a bunch of fairly unexciting gold cards that totally thrilled the hell out of 8 year old me. But hey, at least my somewhat bent Dakkon Blackblade is still totally rad despite making no sense mechanically based on his colors.

At least if I ever decide to make a Commander deck I have a bunch of really terrible options for the Commander.

So, here's my deck. @_@

I'll fix some stuff up and write explanations shortly (and find out how to conveniently add card links on this forum.... If not, I'll just use pictures.)

The sideboard is my list of cuts >_> Some of them painted targets on my head, others weren't powerful enough.
