Halfbrick is going to be at PAX -- and we've sent our TOP MEN on the job.

Here's a few images of them setting everything up:

If you're there, say hi to Hugh, Sean, James and Matty for me, and grab a shirt or sweet Fruit Ninja apparel :P

Are you sure that would work with all the instants in the game?

Yeah, I think asynchronous Magic would take way too long. Even with the somewhat relaxed set of rules in DOTP you'd have to pass priority somewhere around 7 or 8 times per turn even if no one casts any spells. It would take forrreeeevvvveeerrr.

Real time play over online on iPad would be totally rad though.

agreed on all points. that said if they port DOTP2012 to iPad that's day 1 for me.

That's cool!
I really wanted one of those Melon plushies for my wife, but they were too expensive to ship to NZ :(

Finished both episodes of Saturday Morning RPG. Absolutely fantastic game. The only one to pull me away from New Star Soccer. Can't wait to play upcoming episodes

If that's the case I retract my statement.

When I tried it the controls were horrible beyond belief.
Just bought it, virtual joystick (southpaw support too) and touch controls. Works pretty well as far as I can tell so far, moving with one thumb and swiping with the other hand. The game isn't retina HD supported but looks nice enough upscaled on the new iPad.

I've been working through my sizable iOS backlog this week and have made some progress:

Finished up Hunters 2 and Kids vs Goblins. Hunters 2 took me nearly 30 hours in the end, quite amazing value when you consider the price. I thought it was great all the way through, although the end boss was horrible, and meant I had to grind levels for almost a week before I could kill him. Luckily the daily levels were fun and kept me occupied for a while, but I think after this long I've had enough of the game now to call it finished. Don't want to try Hardcore mode though, I think losing my Hunters would be too traumatic for me after levelling them so high.

Kids vs Goblins was a fun ride too, although it had its fair share of flaws that kept it from being a great experience. The game is a Battleheart style RPG combat game, but the lack of RPG levelling meant that it lost that addictive grindy quality that other games like this have. Buying spells was fine, but once I found the 'ideal' party lineup I just needed to rinse and repeat to finish the game.

The controls didn't feel super responsive either, I think there needed to be some kind of feeback when you did an an action. A small sound cue, or maybe a visual cue like having a marker flare up would have meant that I felt more like my actions were having an effect more than they do at present.

However, it's a fun game for a while and is quite pleasant to look at once you get used to the art style a little. Definitely worth the 99c when it re-releases soon for sure.

Got as far as it feels I can in Moto Heroz, I feel like I've mis-leveled my vehicles a bit and so am stuck at 2 stars for all the tracks with no more coins available to buy more uprades to 3-star them and carry on the upgrade cycle. The game was really fun while it lasted though, the art direction is really gorgeous and the game handled spectacularly, I think it's one of the best trialsy games on iOS easily. Kept me going for hours and hours.

Also played a bunch of Saturday Morning RPG, enjoying what there is so far. I like the visual style a lot, and I think the combat system has a nicely interactive feel that turn-based systems can often lack. The combat lacks variety so far though, I can see it becoming repetitive in the long run.

Were all of these Kairosoft games already released on phones before iOS/android? I just can't figure out why the fuck we don't get universal or at least iPad versions.

Zday survival simulator is free at the moment.

Dunno how to link to the appstore, sorry.

-Edit- doesn't support the new iPad 3 for now.

Game Dev Story was great but I refuse to buy any more Kairosoft games (after mall and prix).

Not universal, a shitty menu system and shitty shitty graphics. Don't tell me they're "pixely" and normal. The resolution is garbage. Look at sword and sworcery. That's got a retro feel and looks great. I can't bring my self to play such ugly games any more.

I'd have bought Epic Astro Story instantly a few weeks ago but now that I've gotten knee deep into Hero Academy, Draw Something etc. I'm waiting for a small discount.

meh Kairosoft. I get that y'all dig them but I don't like those games :\

Just finished Gunman Clive though, that was a really fun platformer! The final world was just great, very surprising. The game had some crazy difficulty spikes though, there was a level in the mids that took me forever to get through! But I loved it, the feel of the game was just right. IMO, you should just keep making sidescrollers on this engine, I could play these for hours!

Only criticism would be to please please add the option for a midcreen dpad, having it so low on the screen gave me crazy wristache after a while. But even pain couldn't stop me finishing this badboy.

Right! What's next on my backlog???
