So remind me what and when the next Nintendo-related news event is? Nintendo Direct for Koreans (probably irrelevant to us) and the Fiscal Year wrap-up on the...26th, was it? Is that all we have to look forward to before E3?

I seem to recall some mentions of a North America Nintendo Direct, but I don't ever remember specific dates being named. So that's a possibility.

Other than that, I don't think there's much else on the horizon.

Almost certainly another Nintendo Direct for us in April... (Until now, they've done one every two months.)

Yep the fiscal year results usually are great for new announcements.

Hopefully Nintendo has a Direct show to showcase said new announcements.

you need to edit this gif for E3 by putting either the nintendo or E3 logo in the background.

yesssss.

Ohhhh, good idea! Maybe have them watching Iwata on the podium? Sadly, I have no idea how to edit moving gifs, I'd need some help or direction. :( Would it be easy to do in Gimp? My avatar when E3 rolls around is going to be a picture of Crow wearing a tuxedo. :D

There's always next time ;)

I think "The Hype Strikes Back" would be better imo. :P

Ehh. I doubt tears from that crowd. They're dug-into their positions at this point. No matter what Nintendo shows this year, it will be regarded as something possible on the PS360.

Well, maybe not on the Wii U front. But if Final Fantasy 7 was remade as a 3DS exclusive....hoo boy. It's betrayaltons like that and the ensuing message board fallout I long for.

That'd be a doozy, haha. And every time I think that the days of that kind of betrayalton are over, something else comes along and surprises me all over again.

They're for toddlers, so they don't count?
Hehe.. way too many colors. Not enough guns, boobs, or blood.

Oh, there are tons of things that can blow out some brains. Most of them seem to involve console makers making high profile development house purchases.

I wonder what would happen if Nintendo bought Rare back (probably a "meh" thread, now that I think about it, but there would be plenty of fanboy warrage).

The gaming industry seems to be in the camp of "Well, I guess I'll need one to play Nintendo games regardless of what happens." Nintendo is a known quantity, so to speak. The only thing that would ever actually doom the company is if:

a) They release Nintendo games on other platforms
b) The quality of their games took a nose-dive

As long as Nintendo keeps fueling their systems with kick-ass exclusives, they will stay afloat. That makes them pretty boring, despite their out-of-the-box hardware design. They simply can't fail.

There will probably be a few small pre-E3 announcements that would go mostly unnoticed if they were revealed at E3.

I would be much interested in seeing Nintendo buy IPs off of development houses that are going out of business or struggling. To see them own a Darksiders or Saints Row-type name would be hilarious and fascinating, seeing as how the fanbases for those series aren't centered on Nintendo consoles at the moment.

It didn't seem that way in 2004, when Sony was about to bring the branding that destroyed Nintendo in the living room to the portable space, and Nintendo merely had a pretty embarrassing looking throwback to the Game & Watch series which was far slower than the competition.

It's like expecting Pixar to start making crappy Madagascar level movies, not gonna happen anytime soon.

One good thing about the Nintendo financial meeting this time.

Instead of them saying "The 3DS is doomed. Make games for iPhone", Iwata can now point to the Vita's truly terrible sales and boast.

How come we never hear that of Sony?

Hey Sony? Take those excellent IPs of yours and bring them to the iPhone! You'll make a mint!

We will. Crying tears of sweet, sweet joy.

I might be crying at the calculator screen when it shows me an estimate of how much I'll be spending on Launch Day. I'll be counting which games I want and estimating how much the console will end-up being. Setting a budget for this one is going to be a bit more difficult.

The general opinion of the analysts is that dedicated portables in general are a bad idea. Nintendo pointing out that one is failing won't sway them.

I imagine they'll be locking down June/July release dates for 3DS titles, since they've been publishing at a one-a-month clip. So far, it's been:

Mar - Kid Icarus
Apr - Spirit Camera
May - Mario Tennis

...and then nothing from Nintendo. They've still got Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, and Fire Emblem, which they'll probably space out from June to September.

Trivia: on this day in 2006, Ubisoft officially announced Red Steel for the Wii.

Soon thereafter, magazine articles and online articles began to appear with information and screenshots about the upcoming title.

(of course, E3 was a month earlier that year..)

Nope, never.

So what you're saying is...we have to wait a whole month?
