As a fellow Yoshi's Island fan, I also want to expect a Yoshi's Island annoucement at that conference or at a Nintendo Direct or at E3, but I want something YI related... I want a proper sequel (I didn't like that DS game). Or at least let that Feel-good rumor be true...Can I expect a Yoshi's Island announcement at the investor's conference?
Also, are the Nintendo E3 conference's date & time in the OP confirmed or just an estimate? If that's confirmed I won't be able to watch E3 live ;-;

I don't think they're officially confirmed yet, but going by past patterns, they seem pretty dead-on. I'm confident to the point where I've already turned-in my time off paperwork at work for that day and the following day so that I can sit my butt at home with you guys to offer goofy commentary and screams at the computer screen. And that makes me happy. I'd be sad & mad if they showed DK. I loved DKCR but I want Retro to 'Wow' me with something amazing on Wii U.

This mixed with the comments from the last thread about Iwata wanting to keep the Rare IPs during their sale to microsoft makes me wish I could see what Retro would do with the Perfect Dark IP. Hopefully what they come up with is better.
Us Nintendo fans are a "special' bunch.

You're too good to me. I am really trying to convince myself that the two things I really want to be wowed with (a competent TimeSplitters 4 and electrostatic touch screen feedback) won't ever happen so that at best, I'll be pleasantly surprised, and at worst, I'll still be happy.
Oh, but of course! Another generation will be under its belt, Nintendo will be preparing to pull the curtain away to reveal the N7, and its {remaining?} competitor(s) will be preparing to unveil theirs.
Who knows what the narrative will be? It could be about how, with the Wii U, Nintendo has taken a big tumble from the success of the Wii era. Investors providing lots of pressure on Iwata, Reggie, and Miyamoto to come-up with a really great show. Media outlets all over the place wondering what Nintendo's place will be going into the future. Loyalists still loving the magical games that they've produced over the past half-decade. You know.. the usual.
Or it could be a different story. A story about how Nintendo somehow surprised the industry once again to lead in marketshare. A story on how Nintendo came to dominate the Japanese home console market and somehow began to attract a surprising level of third-party support. A story about how they'd come to be a real competitor with Microsoft for the attention of developers.
We won't know how it plays out. It'll most likely be somewhere in-between. And we'll be here, waiting for the next reveal.

(by decent I mean supports local multiplayer and has a map designer, the stuff about not doing that stupid regeneration thing or the annoying two-weapon thing is just a nice bonus)

I dunno. Do you think it's possible that the handheld/tv interface paradigm could catch fire and cause supply/demand issues? Best case scenario for Nintendo is that we might have to wait until next year.

Then once E3's been and gone, we have to likely wait FIVE MORE MONTHS before we can get our hands on the thing.
I am pretty certain that after E3 and a day or so of NeoGAF browsing, I will leave the internet until November 18th. Actually, then I'll have the Wii U and will be playing it instead of net nerding.

Wii is dead/dying. Putting more first party games on it at this point (esp. ones that haven't been announced...) would be a wasted effort. Looks at Pokemon BW2.
