Yeah I got Instagram now it's on Android. Caved in to its hipsterness and many filters, so here's my late start to Minifg buying. I'm guessing the only way to get the early series is like ebay and bricklink and stuff now?

EDIT: Something about the bunny guy's smile is really creepy...

I'm worried that the Olympic minifigs might start me off collecting them.

My main concern is that they'll be a lot harder to bag feel than the regular sets as there's little to differentiate most of them.

Hehe, "bag feeling".

Quick snap I took this morning before I left the house. From left to right is 8081, 9395 & 8194. In front of those is my pride & joy, Model Team 5541-1.

I'll take some better pics when I have a chance and bung the rest of the 'garage' in there. Oh, I also got the series 7 Space Marine minifig on my first attempt. Nice.
Model Team <3

That's one can be bought for reasonable price used. Very tempting.

Picked up the Y wing today. Also grabbed three series 6 while I was there. Got the Mechanic, Chef, and the Highlander dude. Not bad, still wan that Roman Soldier but I will probably just bricklink it.

Are there any good Doctor Who MOCs out there? My daughter is obsessed with The Doctor at the moment - I found her plastic Daleks hiding in my SW Venator Yemen I disassembled it yesterday, so they need a new home

- love that sonic boom, but my son has the swing wing fast flyers so can't really justify it at the mo.

Originally I was not convinced by the picture on the package, my desire to continue my collection of creator sets was stronger though, and after having build it and held it in my hands I recognise it's a nice set. Possibly partly because I need to justify it to myself, but even though I like it.

I was actually pretty limited for pieces when a I made this

It's pretty obvious to see the apple tree house pieces in it if you look for it. That was a combination of building with what I had and a bricklink order of mainly windows and arches.

You did a hell of a job, and got my support on CUUSOO.

This is my WIP, I wanted a smaller 16x32 stud sized building, the first floor is a small mom and pop toy store. The second floor is supposed to repeat for a third floor but I can't really afford to buy the whole thing just yet so it looks a tad too small. All together there are 1437 bricks and about £250 sunk in.

I just hope it looks half as decent in real life, the more I look at my design the more I despise it. My moment of truth will happen sometime next week when the parts I ordered arrive.

Looking good, myself personally I'd add a bit more colour to the front of the facade, probably just changing the tan colour in the awning to something a bit more vibrant would be enough. Also you should try fitting a "TOYS" sign in there somewhere, something like the pets store one or you go bigger like a big dodgy one like my first poor attempt at a modular years ago.

What reference are you using for the roof design? I've never seen anything like that in Australia, that's the only bit that looks a little odd to me.

Picked up a Logitech C920 webcam to try my hand at brickfilming. The netbook I tried it with chugged with the default logitech software though. Gonna try with my regular laptop sometime this weekend, though it's a bit old. Would be a bit of a hassle if I had to use my desktop pc.

Quick test; Resized; and the color balance is off. Supposed to be a darker olive green. Need proper tweaking.

The model is a Sluban set. Sluban is a Chinese knock-off of Korean Oxford bricks. There's all kinds of things wrong with the build quality. I have an Oxford tank coming in to compare quality with (apparently Oxford bricks are near Lego quality). I have an idea of having non-Lego armies attacking Lego towns. Will be picking up army sets by Cogo and Banbao in the future. Maybe Cobi as well.

I agree with you about the awning, I just bought it as a place holder, I find a slight disconnect with the LDD color palate and what lego colors look like in real life so I was waiting to finalize a color when I could play around with the design in front of me.

I tried a "TOYS" signs, but was never really happy with 'em, the "Y" is a bit hard to get right at a small scale. I'm thinking of hand painting "TOYS" on the shop window or getting tiny decals for it.

There is no reference for the roof (or the rest of the building for that matter), it started off as one window in the center of the building, and I had 1x3 and 2x3 roofing pieces around it, but I couldn't buy the 4x4 corner pieces from the online pick a brick, and I didn't want to start bricklinking for a handful of pieces, so I kept the window, deleted everything else and rebuilt from there.

The major design problem I ran into after I bought the pieces I thought I needed is that all the real modular building's have a first floor that's about 11 bricks high. Mine is only 9 bricks high, and I might be anal retentive enough to let that bother me. So my next hurdle will be letting my wife know I'm not done with it yet.

I didn't really pay any attention to brick height for floors on mine, as long as it looked right.

I must have broke mine down and rebuilt it about 5 times before I was happy with it, there is no real hurry so take your time.

I actually watched a talk by john cleese on creativity yesterday that was quite insightful, one thing I took from it was to not always just settle for your first implementation of something if you're not happy with it, move on to another section or element and allow yourself to think and ponder of the problem for a bit.

I also collected a bit of reference images for building styles I liked and tried to implement various elements from each.

Recently bought a pair of Lego Islanders sets CIB, Crocodile Cage and Island Catarman. It reminds me how much I loved the theme. I would love to collect the other sets in the theme (Already got the biggest set)...anyone else like the theme?

94 was probably my favorite year as far as Lego goes (Wasn't too shabby too on the videogame side as well), I hope to acquire every set that came out that year, thankfully I already have most of the expensive ones already.

Just got back from target where they had these I grabbed in a bargain bin for AUD $9 each. Turns out it was a mistake and they were actually going for AUD $28 but they had to honor it.

This is actually pretty neat looking - I look forward to your results!

Ah, that explains the hub caps on my Kre-O Bumblee set. They say Oxford on them. If that's the case then the quality should be quite fine.

Looks good to me for a first try and as a basic starting point :)
I like the roof, looks unusual

Had a nice haul on minifigs today.

picked up one of the Marvel sets. Yeah, the set is just 'ok', but man those figs...

Couple of pics of my mini star wars sets on makeshift stands.

full collection (not really into the prequels or clone wars, but I do like the Venator)

Millenium falcon outrunning a Star Destroyer

These were a lot of fun and very quick builds. I can keep these on display easily, even when my larger sets are broken down to make way for others. These and the mini modulars will probably be permanent fixtures.

Love the walkers!

Parents are on an annual trip they take and while she is there she popped into a toystore that has all of series 7 numbered. So she just phoned up and asked me to select a few. Nice to know I know I have the computer geek now.

Apparently the space marine is the most popular according to the owner.
