New PS3 Exclusive Revealed Next Week On GTTV (Superbot's PS All-Stars)

It's their first game.
First title according to their website.
This is their first game.
It's "Superbot Entertainment's" first game :)
Hm. Thanks. :)

SuperBot Entertainment, Inc. is a fresh, new independent game studio located in way cool Culver City, California. We are an exclusive developer for Sony Computer Entertainment America and are currently in production of a yet-to-be announced PS3 title.
err...

Oh well, whatever. :p Looking forward to see some footage of the game.

Definitely should be in.
If James Bond is in and he's not, then something is seriously wrong.

Well I'm excited to see some of these showdowns.

Auron vs. Cloud
Kratos vs. Nariko
Captain Qwark vs. Blasto
Ratchet vs. Jak.

Coupled with levels from games like Wipeout HD, pixeljunk ___, or Flower.

If they can really get all these elements and characters, then I'm fairly stoked. We shall see tonight.

Lol if Ken Kutaragi ends up being the final boss.

This is not going to end well imho...

Challenging Smash Bros so directly and with a new studio, having such an inhomogeneous rooster and hoping on a good netcode (when PSN is not so loved for his games netcode...) makes me think to an almost sure failure...

I don't want this kind of challenges or game genere duplication...
There are like 4 mascot brawlers out there, it's not like the genre is oversaturated.

Rooster... Now I'm hungry...

Can you explain yourself a little better?
If you're genuine and not trolling . . .

SuperBot is a new studio comprised of former members from Sony's top studios like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica. Not the same thing as some random unproven start up studio.

Inhomogeneous? Really? Who uses that word. But honestly when you look at all of Nintendo's characters that about as inhomogeneous as you get. There's no reason the Sony characters wouldn't be any more strange to see all on stage at once.

There's nothing wrong with PSN. I don't know why people try to argue this, perhaps they don't like the idea its free and try to injustify it. Anyone who has used PSN for a good amount of time knows it works fine.

And do not like the idea of multiple games occupying the same genre and challenging each other? Competition is how things get better. That's something you learn in grade school.

Lol, sorry - edited -

More than genuine

Happy to see that behind SuperBot is a team of experienced programmers but honestly I don't know how many of them made a game similar to Smash Bros or at least a beat'em up.

Each character in SSB is at least "cartoon like" (if we exclude last Solid Snake's incursion). We can't say the same for Nathan Drake or Cole McGrath. A fight between Samus and Mario still seems to be more "believable" than one between Nathan Drake and Sackboy... or at least in my mind

I am a good PSN user and I remember awful samples of netcode. Games like LBP or Motorstorm Apocalypse (or many other...) had an ugly start with lag and many other problems (MS Apocalypse freezes). They've been patched and now most of them works correctly but there's always a sense of risk going online for the first time with a new game...

And finally yes, I don't like when Sony or everyone else makes an almost duplicate of a game, specially when the duplicated game is almost unique like Super Smash Bros. I didn't like the announcement of Sackboy cart racing and things like "You're in the movies", "Scene It" or "Lips" made by Microsoft in order to challenge "Eyetoy" "Buzz" and "Singstar".

It's ignorance. PSN is a perfectly fine service for playing online games, has been for years. P2P games run like they should and dedicated server games run like they should.

It's notable at least, I can't think of too many examples of true second parties that aren't owned by anyone.
Sort of reminds me about the whole Incognito thing. Incognito was a first party studio owned by Sony. For whatever reason the people there didn't like being owned by a publisher so they all abandoned it and started up two new studios (Eat, Sleep, Play and Lightbox Interactive) comprised of the same exact people making the same exact games, only now as a second party studio.

I think what you're mentioning is something that worries some of us. How far will Sony dig for these characters? Will they just play it safe by picking characters that a lot of gamers will instantly recognize? Even a character like Fat Princess is kind of a safe pick if they're going in that direction. It's a popular current gen title.

Part of what makes the Smash lineups so good is that Nintendo is willing to dig into obscure or just really old titles/products. We've seen them include R.O.B., Mr. Game & Watch, Nana and Popo (Ice Climbers) etc. But will Sony do the same? Will they dig into the PSone catalog to pull out characters like Tomba, Robbit (Jumping Flash) or something completely off the wall like Little Devil (Devil Dice)? Will they find a way to include the Pocketstation (which would probably be more like an item in the game)? My worry is that they won't.

Parappa is a pretty damn obscure game now now. Sure it was a highlight in its day (Like Kid Icarus) but the character hasn't been seen in anything at all since 2002 -- 10 whole years. Hell Nariko would be an obscure character considering it was s single title in an "eh" game by rating standards.

People also don't have fondness for the Pocketstation compared to something like R.O.B and the Game & Watch.

Actually the game did get a PSP version ind 2006 and 2007, but the character is still really obscure.

I wanna see this idiot in there.

Or hell, just throw the player character in there, I don't give a fuck, just gimme some DS connection. D:

There's nothing particularly wrong about that statement. Independent just means they're self owned. An independent studio working exclusively for one publisher just means they've struck some sort of mutually beneficial deal that didn't involve said publisher buying them outright.

Insomniac was the like that too. They worked for Sony exclusively but they maintained there independence the whole time. That's why they've been able to break away from Sony so easily to make the multiplat they're developing now. All they had to do was wait for their contract to expire.

Contrast that to Bungie, who were owned by Microsoft and had to buy back their independence to go make their multiplat.

Edit: Looks like I was beaten.

Is there a particular time they're releasing the footage?

You mean on the net? They usually post trailers right when the show ends while they post the full episode at around 3-4am central time.

IGN's announcement seems to be the same as this, so they may have some footage also.

We keep talking about characters in this game. Lets discuss items for once! assuming the gameplay is kinda like Smash Bros.

I'd really want an assist ball that would call the selected characters 'partner'. Example: If you use Drake, using the ball would call Sully.

/geekmode

And if theres one level I want, it'd be the Uncharted 3s last level.

From the leaked source
Items:
- RPG Rocket Launcher = a one hit kill.
- Quick Boots = you run around faster.
- Stage exclusive items like the Flag on Sandover, Buzz! Remote in LittleBigPlanet, etc.

This info is old so no telling how much change.

Would be cool if some of the Resistance and Ratchet weapons were items in the game.

Say for example the Bullseye, where your bullets auto hit a target for a brief period of time. Or having Mr. Zurkon join you briefly to lay into the other fighters.

Some characters being more cartoony than others really shouldn't matter. Just look at UMvC3 which has characters from games like Okami, Resident Evil, Ace Attorney, Devil May Cry and then all the Marvel characters.

I'm really curious to see what kind of art style they go with.

I really hope they go with a more cartoony look. This type of game is completely wacky so it would look weird if the characters were hyper realistic.

Yes and Yes

Oh and when each character gets hit they could occasionally say something:
Drake: "oh crap"
Ratchet: "come on"
Sackboy could just make that sobbing noise I've heard. Maybe it was in the intro?
Kratos: "Vengence will be mine"
etc..

Mr Zurkon should be only Ratchets attack.

Thats what I think I'm most excited to see. And to see if it's like Powerstone or SSBB.

TBH I wouldn't mind a mixture of hyper realistic characters and cartoony ones, I think it'd be all cool. Each Character should have their own stage though right?

I'm confused, is this tomorrow or on Friday? I thought GTTV was on Thursdays but Gametrailers.com says it's on the 27th.
For me it comes on at 12am so that would be Friday.

Either way we have to wait the same time. :p

I imagine Ratchet's "Super" attack will be whipping out the Ryno V and decimating everyone.

Clank could be an ability to freeze time and get a couple of free hits in on others.
That is true,I dont think Clank is a separate character though.

It's been 13 years since the original Smash was released. Sony could've easily done this game a long time ago, especially for the PS2, so I don't see what's the problem. This type of game shouldn't be exclusive to just one series, in one platform.
