Well then how about a link to the non redundant thread :p Just looking for best games in all the different categories, this thread seems to just push the fotm :(
Here ya go.
It's linked in the op of this thread, too, btw
The Official NeoGAF Best iOS Games of All Time

I apologize ahed of time if it has been discussed already and I missed it, what is the GAF opinion/review of TOTAL WAR BATTLES by SEGA?

Thanks
General consensus seems to be it's a good game, but it's not Total War.
Think more Command and Conquer crossed with Plants vs Zombies.

Single player campaign, lane defense with hexes, about 10 hours, no skirmish, and the only mp is 1v1 on the same iPad.
Graphics and whatnot are nice, challenge is pretty good... there's some IAP if that bugs you.

Personally I see no reason to not wait for a sale. Seems a bit pricy to me.

Do you think you will continue with platformers for your next project?

I'm still not 100% sure what the next game will be. First I'll have to do a bit of experimentation and prototyping; I kindof want to do something different though.

I'm currently craving to make something a bit zelda-ish; possibly with a bit of a mix between traditional topdown and a bit more dynamic 3D platforming, no idea if I'll be able to make that work with touch controls tough.

Also, after all the hype Gunman Clive got for its graphics I feel quite some pressure to come up with another unique stylish look. So I'll probably have to do some experiments with different rendering techniques but I don't want to force a gimicky artstyle either.

There'll probably be a gunman clive 2 somewhere down the line though, as well as other platformers

"I did it!"

Bought Kingdom Rush HD for 99 cents. What a great TD game, possibly the best I've played on iOS. Great tower and upgrades system and some very interesting gameplay mechanics. Are there any others just as good?

Same. It's absolutely generic as far as setting, and even the art itself isn't anything to write home about. There's just something there, though. Something in the animations I think that makes me smile. Challenging as well.

Anyone even remotely interested in a substantial yet portable CRPG experience on iOS owes it to himself (though perhaps a version of himself from 15+ years ago) to check out Silversword. It's basically a thorough and surprisingly accurate recreation of the classic Bard's Tale experience, only filtered through an original fantasy world.

It's universal, and though was designed with the iPad in mind, works just fine on an iPhone as well. It's been seeing a ton of support from the developer and has been constantly refined and improved upon since well before the release of the full version in early 2012. He's been working on some post-game content and a full expansion pack, but that hasn't stopped him updating and fixing the current version of the game.

It's really remarkably well done and like Legend of Grimrock, scratches an old, nostalgic itch in just the right ways. It's not the prettiest game around, but it's definitely giving The Quest a good challenge on the iOS CRPG top lists, IMHO.

I wondered why I had not tried it when I saw your post. Then I saw the art and UI design and remembered why. Might give it a go if it goes free sometime but I am not paying for something that looks like that.

Getting back into Jetpack Joyride with the new update.

The gadgets are pretty great.

Tribez HD on the iPad is also pretty cool. Not usually a fan of that type of game but it seems this has some adventure aspect which is nice.

Pocket RPG is kind of amazing...thanks for the heads up in this thread about it. Easily scratching that loot whore and Diablo itch. With some tweaks this thing could be out of control.

by the way, anyone got any idea how to backup your iOS game saves?
I had my iPad 2 exchanged last year and my Tiny Tower was not backed up at all :/

I know some apps support saving over iCloud but that needs to be implemented by the app developer (if I'm not mistaken).

iExplorer, backup what's in the Documents folder of the game in question when browsing the file structure.

Apparently, even if you've already bought a game, if you use a redeem code for that same game, the App Store will still accept it. I'm out an Infinity Blade code I got from freemyapps that I was gonna give away. LOL...freaking lame.

Yeah, it isn't perfect, but for a buck (I got the iPhone version), it's gotta be the best option on iOS for a Diablo clone. The variety is pretty damned impressive (the music too, which adds a surprising amount of excitement to dungeon crawls). It's also my understanding that the dungeons are randomly generated (each playthrough), so there's ample incentive to try out each of the three classes.

I'm not sure how long this has been in effect, so it could have been known for a while, but Atomix mag (another iPad videogames mag) is now free to subscribe to.

I just picked up an iPad 2 on the super cheap, after being an iPod-only guy for several years. I never got the appeal before, but wow do I ever now! I'm already planning on upgrading to a 3 and giving this one to my wife.

Also, it feels amazing to be unburdened by backlog. I brought over just a few essentials, and some board games to show my wife. At first I felt weird about only having a page of games, but now I feel strangely at peace.

Anyways, I was browsing the top iPad games list on appshopper, and saw that FFT came out for iPad. How is it? I know the iPhone version got pretty mixed reviews, and is considered janky, but I'm hoping that at the very least the screen size helps sort out at least some of these issues.

Lastly, does anyone have any iPad suggestions for older games? The more recent stuff is pretty fresh in my mind from reading these threads, and I'm also going through the thread in reverse, but it's going to take some time for me to hit the gems from the iPad 1 days. I did pick up Avadon, which was a big reason I wanted an iPad to begin with, and am loving it.

Yeah but barely anybody's doing it. Only app that I have that stores a save file in iCloud is League of Evil 2.

hmm. i like how iCloud Backup show a list of App Data... (is there a similar menu for iTunes)?

iExplorer, backup what's in the Documents folder of the game in question when browsing the file structure.

hmm. can iExplorer use previous backup files and do selective restore?
I am trying to locate the save files of my games in backup files and restore to my iPad :/

Has anyone subscribed or tried out an issue of PXL magazine yet?

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pxl-magazine/id502218531?mt=8and

It's 99 cents for one issue or 9.99 for a year. Might give it a shot.

Edit: Seems like the first issue is free.
Only £6.99 for a yearly subscription, that's fantastic value if it's a good magazine, going to download Issue 1 and see what it's like. Chances are I'll be subscribing unless it's really bad. The app description says they have game journalists working on it though, and they seem to have some big interviews (Tim Schafer, Jeff Minter etc), so it looks like it could be good.

Right now the iPad version of FFT is identical to the iPhone version, except for being more expensive. Supposedly overhauled sprites are in the works for the iPad version, but nothing yet.

any idea what i should spend my 8.56usd credit on?
wanted to buy Instapaper but :/ the thought of have been on freemyapps pulls me back abit

I think that's around where my score is. All my friends are blown away, I didn't find it very hard. I'm a little disappointed I haven't been able to break 7k.
It's funny, I had a score of like 3,500. My friend texted me bragging he broke 4k. I decided to play until I beat him and got that score.

Still trying to figure out the best gadget combo for a score run.

This I've never understood. When i enable iCloud backup on my iPad, it lets me choose from my list of apps the ones that I want to enable for iCloud's backup, and the data is usually under 1MB or even half that. I supposed those were the saves back up, are they not?

I demand tips and advice.

High score for me is 6533km pre-gadgets.

It's all about going into a run with every advantage you can and really making those vehicles count...and a lucky second chance doesn't hurt!

Don't think I have the heart to try and beat my own score with the update...this game is a little too grindy for my tastes now.
