I honestly can't believe how bad the packs I've been opening have been. Sort of makes me hesitant for the prerelease.
Just won 4 snap casters on ebay!
I have a problem![]()
I was wondering about this myself. I'll remove Paraselene.Even in a world of Intangible Virtue, Honor of the Pure, Tempered Steel, and Curses, I still don't think Paraselene deserves a main deck slot. This would obviously be more clear with playtesting (you might even find that I'm downright wrong here).
I feel like they offer very different things. Vault is more about the deathtouch than the lifelink. My creatures don't get very big, so I feel like it's a backup in case my opponent starts laying down fatties. You may want to choose between Gavony and Vault and just include 2 or 3 of the one rather than splitting them like you are. In this deck, one of them has to be better than the other in most situations.
I thought about including an Inkmoth, because it is a good fit, but I worry about getting too many colorless mana draws in this deck, especially since I need WW to cast a lot of my guys. Doesn't Inkmoth really need the +X/+0 land (name slips my mind) to do well?I know you said that you wanted to keep things cheap, but if we are being free with suggestions, I would replace the Gavony and Vault with Inkmoth (which helps out with metalcraft) and probably add a Mox Opal. (Feel free to ignore this since it does start getting expensive).
He'd get Darksteel Armor on him immediately, so Go For The Throat isn't really a threat. Honestly, Elbrus is just there because I think he's a goddamn badass looking card. I have a thing for demons. I actually started out making a demon deck with lots of human sacrifice, but I figured out that it was just too easy for my opponent to control.I'm still not a huge fan of Elbrus without a way of pushing it through. It's also a lot of work to get Withengar Unbound out when Go For The Throat, Tragic Slip, and Vapor Snag are so popular currently. 7 mana would probably be better suited to Karn if that's within the budget.
Elspeth Tirel is more like a backup for destroying the world if Worldslayer and Day of Judgment arrive. I'll be spending her loyalty on the ultimate, not on tokens. With the way my deck is organized, I feel like Mortarpod is counter-intuitive. Why sacrifice indestructible creatures for 1 damage? It doesn't seem worth the effort. If it cost 1 mana, I would do it for Tinker Mage synergy.I'm not sure if it would be incredibly beneficial, but I would think about knocking the Darksteel Axe and Darksteel Plate down to 3x and adding a couple of Mortarpod. Mortarpod is really good at pushing that last little bit of damage through and Elspeth can easily provide the soldiers willing to give their lives for it. Would it be too expensive to add another Elspeth Tirel (in the slot of Elbrus or Paraselene)?
I love that song. No clue why the SF community hates it.This soundtrack is dedicated to the deck!
I never get tired of Marvel. Just reformed my team a week ago and dropped Morrigan. I'm just very busy and making a MTG deck for fun is a nice way to get some creative energy out. I've always loved MTG, but it costs so much for someone like me.Karst is here, holy shit. Got tired of MvC3 man?And many new MtG:Online players. I really gotta get a pre-paid credit card one of these days and open an account already just to have one. But I really hate the fact it's "pay to play" just to play casually in comparison to M:tG: DotP.
Was that guy trying to play some sort of turbofog deck? Wait - no, he's playing Mind Unbound.
Wait. Did he have anything in his deck that deals damage?
EDIT: Oh wait - that was Sinatar. Didn't look at the name closely enough. So what...exactly...does that deck do? Deck your opponent with Drownyard or something?
What I don't get is how you prevent that deck from decking itself.
How many increasing confusions do you run?
It's so weird. Everybody seems to want Snapcasters, yet I've had mine up for trade since I got them. I've moved everything else BUT them. I don't even treat them like anything special, they're in with the rest of my cards. People just flip by them.
Freakin' weird.
maybe he did.The win condition! Tell me venser's journal didn't deck himself!
Incorrect. Discarding is part of the cost to use his ability. For mad prophet, if you have no cards you can still use his ability and draw for nothing right?
Still looking for Heroes? It's so weird. Everybody seems to want Snapcasters, yet I've had mine up for trade since I got them. I've moved everything else BUT them. I don't even treat them like anything special, they're in with the rest of my cards. People just flip by them.
Freakin' weird.
Edit: Hey, are you willing to trade your 2x angelic destiny?
Incorrect. Discarding is part of the cost to use his ability.
Still looking for Heroes?
Yeah, since I have 4 now. I'm looking for stuff for a legacy night deck
Why yes. Yes, I am.
Bleh, I have like zero legacy.
In my case that means I'm looking for anything with "knight" in it. Or knightish artifacts
Anybody else go to the prerelease last night? I went 4-1 and got 4 packs. My pool had a lot of good commons and uncommons but worthless, terrible rares.
Time to see if I can continue my great streak of half my pre-release rares being lands. I wouldn't actually mind that in this set.
I went 3-1 and got 5 packs. My deck was Soulbond based and only had two rares:
- The green lure/ growth miracle
- Cavern of Souls (played as an advertisement so people could later buy it off me for $20
Extremely weak against flying, but it beat down most other people
I actually won the prerelease today! In my prize packs I got a Tibalt, foil griselbrand, and a cavern of souls. I'm pretty happy.
Edit: Those green flash regen 3/3 wolves or whatever are AMAZING. It won me so many games.
Yes they are! I had 2 of them maindeck and they wreck havok.
Congrats on the win and pulls!
Thanks! I got two vexing devils too so hopefully they keep their value. I hope I get two of them tomorrow but I can't see that happening. I got shit rares in the packs to play with but after all the packs I guess it balanced out in the end.![]()
I'd get rid of them quick if you are going to trade, they aren't as good as some people think they are and will probably drop in value.
I went 4-2, started G/W but switched to G/B after 2 rounds to try Demonic Taskmaster. I think solo G/x is a pretty good archetype, I had 2 of the 4 counter miracle, the 2/1 that can't be blocked by creatures with less toughness, the enchantment that draws cards if you have the highest power and the 6 drop that draws a card when you play a dude. Some good beaters and card advantage.
I got a Vexing Devil and Restoration Angel in my prize packs as well so pretty happy. Did some good trades for the Grixis deck I'm planning as well. I hope the Loothouse makes it a top tier archetype as I'd like to base my drew on some net decks rather than work on it 100% myself.
I've got nothing to trade for that's how I got the second vexing devil. I was trying to get rid of one of my extra Karn's and so someone was willing to trade that so I did that so it's at least newer. Maybe I'll try to dump some of them on ebay or something... No one seems to have planes walkers, or if they do they want something that I consider more valuable such as cavern of souls or something similar which is a lot more useful to me. The rest people are willing to trade are things that no one really wants or a lot cheaper rares so you get a lot of waste in the long run.
Going off the SCG prices you could trade it for new AVR cards that will at least hold their value. It's ridiculous it's worth more than most of the good mythics (except for Planeswalkers and Temporal Mastery, which I'd also try and off load ASAP).
Did pretty well today, going 2-1. I was U/G on the back of Champion of Lambholt, Soul of the Harvest, and Deadeye Navigator along with some great ETB effects, my partner was doing R/W based on having a Tibalt, a fair amount of the set's scant removal, and some good early and late drops.
Deadeye Navigator + Mist Raven = Ownage
We got some good rares as well, including the U/G Flash land, Reforge the Soul, a regular Moonsilver Spear and a premium Otherworld Atlas. Everyone in my playgroup got prizes so we're just going to hold onto the packs and do a draft next week.
Well I used the Navigator and the Mist Raven to basically bounce three of their creatures a turn. As soon as I got that out the game was basically over
Went to a second prerelease, first time I've ever done that lol. Went 4-0-1 and took 2nd place, 10 packs. Promptly traded them and the Tamiyo I got from my sealed pool for more stable stuff. Overall a pretty good weekend and I def won't be doing any limited for a few weeks.
Placed second in my local pre-release.
Silverblade Paladin + Druid's Familiar = LOLOLOL
Nice! My LGS finally changed the pack distribution to wins and not so much tournament style. So the only 4-0 gets 10 packs, 3 wins get 7, etc., etc. instead of the old style of only top 4 get packs. There were only 3 or 4 people whining about it before we started because they usually rank high and I beat 2 out of the 3 to win it so I was happy to see them not win it. I like the more even distribution of packs, it's a lot more fun for me so I hope they keep it.
Ya my LGS has a pretty good showing but doesn't give only a few, high pack payouts. Even though I usually place pretty high there, I'm glad that you can go 3-2 and still get 2-3 packs. It lets everybody have a lot more fun with it and not get pissed at every loss. I can't even imagine if they did tournament style with eliminations. That seems so unfun especially for something like a prerelease that's more about the newer players.
A 9/9 creature you say? Meet Haunted Armor, Defender, First strike, soulbound to Nightshade Peddler for deathtouch! The ultimate wall. Kid was butthurt to say the least.
Made out pretty nice.
2 Vexing Devils (1 foil)
2 Archwing Dragons
1 Tibalt
1 Misthallow Griffon
2 Revenge of the Hunted (1 foil)
Among other things. Did back to back pre-releases. Got 2 giant cards, 2 dice and 2 tokens![]()
7th out of 40 last night, 2 and 2 today so didn't bother to even check lol.
Opened a Tibalt which I traded for a Tamiyo.
Opened a Grizzlebrand, 2 Archwing Dragons, Reforge the Soul, Angel of Jubilation, 2 Cathar's Crusade, Divine Deflection (which saved my ass last night when I top decked it against someone beating my ass with Grislebrand) , Killing Wave (which saved my ass also) , Ulvenwald Tracker, Otherworld Atlas and a couple of other things.
All and all not bad.
From the Helvault I got Grislebrand, the green white and green blue angels, and 4 tokens with one spindown.
My buddy got a foil vexing devil and sold it as soon as it ended for $20. Which creature is a 9/9? There's something that big that isn't flying?
WHAT. Who was stupid enough to Tibalt for Tamiyo? Please tell me it wasn't a straight up trade between the two...
Indeed, straight up.
I think he was having a wee bit of trader's remorse today, but he made some good trades and got over it.
I saw someone pick up a Cavern of Souls for a stack of things from their junk trade folder.
