I need the Wolverine, Doc Ock and Iron Man mini-figs in my life like now. Nice to see they're sticking mostly with standard mini-figs for the Marvel stuff, I fucking hated their Toy Story stuff and hope they never do that again.

General Iron Man question: Why doesn't he just have surgery to remove the shrapnel in his chest? Or is this just an excuse for his chest reactor?

I could bold the whole thing but ..

'Avengers' super in Blighty

"Avengers" scored a record of some kind in virtually every market, with No. 1 bows in many international territories, including most of Latin America. It earned the most in the U.K. with $24.7 million, the biggest local opening for a superhero movie and Disney's best-ever three-day bow in the U.K.

Australia contributed $19.7 million -- another Disney benchmark locally (as well as for Marvel) and the market's second-highest opening ever.

Outside English-speaking markets, "Avengers" saw exceptional biz in Latin America, where pic scored the highest-grossing weekends in a total of seven markets including Mexico, with $15.9 million, and Brazil ($11.3 million).

Disney launched "Avengers" a week early internationally to get a leg up on a highly competitive summer, during which seven billion-dollar franchises unspool their newest entries. Universal used a similar strategy for "Battleship," though that pic is already in its third frame with $170 million internationally and doesn't launch Stateside until May 18 -- two weeks after "Avengers."

Domestic expectations for "Avengers" have been through the roof for several weeks, with bizzers projecting a $150 million-plus opening. That was further proven this weekend as U.S. auds shied away from multiplexes.

Some people are reporting that in brazil, the dubbed copies of the Avengers misses "one of the most awesome scenes" .... strange ... VERY strange

Has it already been discussed that Loki says "quim"? I don't know how bad on the offence-o-meter it is these days, but it felt weird...

I just found out about the Marvel Marathon deal, and that sounds like the best possible way to spend my Thursday. On my local theater's site though, it says it's $12.25 per ticket plus $25.00 package. It does not explain what the package is, nor does it give you the option to not buy the package. Am I to make of this that it is $37.25 then just for one ticket? I would love to do this but I have to pay for my girlfriend too (or, I should say, I GET to pay for my girlfriend) and I don't have over $70 to drop on seeing a bunch of movies I already own. What sort of pricing have you guys gotten for this?

You act as though there has been a single memorable piece of score in any of the five films.

The Iron man I soundtrack was exceptional and you recognize Cap's theme when it plays. "Shoot it thrill" plays in an awesome moment.

And he might recognize them even if you don't.

seriously. The only good score IMO has been Thor, courtesy of the fantastic Patrick Doyle, but the rest have been super forgettable. which is just a tragedy because these films/characters deserve memorable themes.

remember John Williams' Superman or Elfman's Batman themes? of course you do. even the Nolan Batman films lack a memorable theme IMO, but at least there is one and the rest of the music is arguably really good and sublime.

Oh yeah, that was pretty cool.

Americans won't even know what it means.

I liked Thor's soundtrack the best out of all the Marvel films for sure.

Jump Street still did $35 million beofre THG.
THG wasnt a summer release. Besides that, the total weekend business before THG was down 6% YOY, this weekend business is down a whopping 30% YOY.

Also Boxofficemojo;
Based off this opening, The Avengers could reasonably finish with nearly $600 million overseas, and it could even wind up higher than that.
Before the release, they predicted 580M, which looks like a good guess right now.

The only thing we know for sure is that it supposedly involves Stark and Banner.

That makes sense considering the ending.

I gotta say, one little thing I liked about the film was how well it played off of the individual character histories in their solo films.
Tony's relationship with Pepper
was done surprisingly well,
Cap telling Fury that they should have left the cube in the ocean
, and then the final showdown
between Loki and Thor had a great callback to their first film when Odin told them that a wise king never seeks war but is always ready for it.
Remember when Odin tried to avert war with the Jotuns, but Laufey told him it was too late? Odin's response was "so be it".

Sounds like he's just speculating based on what the rumors were saying. I hope I'm wrong and there is some secret post credits thing, but I don't think there will be.

I don't know. I think RDJ let it slip they were filming something else too. I bet its some kinda tease for IM3.

Lego Cap's helmet looks less silly than his movie outfit!

That said, for those who've seen the film, do y'all think Cap's outfit/helmet looked as silly in the film as we thought it did early on?

Only the Helmet. The outfit actually looks okay. But I prefer it when Evans just wear that plain blue shirt and red boots
post you-know-who's demise
