wasnt a bad movie for what it was, but the expository dialogue and long swaths of actionless scenes were kinda meh. B- overall for me
Very entertaining movie. a lot of hilarious moments..
one question/comment though
Why no screen time for Thor's girl? I know she was mentioned but I would have liked to see her. And is there a reason why Thors didnt call his friends to come help out? Seems like they could have been useful at the end there. I know its not Thor 2 but still pepper pots got her screen time.
I also liked captain america a lot more in this than his movie, Loki's actor was fantastic.

But you need the expository dialogue in a movie like this

there are ways to make expository dialogue interesting. they didnt even bother
I'm guessing because they didn't want to pay for Natalie Portman and it would have been a bit of a waste of time either way. I think Pepper only got some time because she's much more important to Tony's life than Jane is to Thor and her dynamic with Tony is fun and built up over several movies. Also both Iron Man films were far more popular than Thor.
They explained thatthey put Jane into hiding to protect her from Loki.
As for Thor's friends Loki asks Thor how much dark energy Odin had to harness just to get him to Earth, so if it was hard to get Thor there; it probably wasn't possible to bring the Warriors Three and Sif.
Part of me thinks thatColston (sp?) isn't dead, based on Fury telling the med team that he is there and he is gone, no need for medical.
Ruffalo worked closely with industrial Light & Magic to create the Hulk’s performance-capture foundation, Whedon says. “When Bruce Banner turns into the Hulk … Mark did all the reference and the animators took it a step further. Mark encouraged them to. He’s like, ‘Look, you can’t look at me going ‘grrrrrrr‘ and then just animate that. You guys have to own this character as much as I do.’”
Whedon asked Ruffalo to prepare for the role by checking out Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno‘s 1978 to 1982 The Incredible Hulk TV series, but he didn’t even bother to screen earlier Hulk movies for the actor.
Mark Ruffalo is best Hulk. Sorry Ang Lee.

Sorry if its already been asked, but why did they exclude spidy and wolverine?
Just got back from it. Awesome, awesome movie. Probably tied with Captain America for my favorite of the cinematic universe.
So let me ask you guys this. In 2014, Along with Cap 2, Marvel supposedly will release another film.
Most likely candidates:
Ant-Man
Dr. Strange
and Guardians of The Galaxy
Which one would you guys prefer to see?
Sony and FOX owns the movie rights respectively
=/ Well that sucks. How did they end up with rights?
You reckon there's a possibility they'll show up in the sequel?
Marvel sold the rights for Spider-Man so long ago, and it was in limbo until somehow it landed into Columbia's hands. Go read the wiki page and you'll see all the craziness it has been through. James Cameron had it at one point.
X-Men was sold to FOX a long time ago too, probably just for monetary reasons. IDK. But as long as they keep making X-Men films, or still producing one, FOX keeps it.
So the possibilities are close to 0.
So I just saw this tonight, and I don't know much about the comics, but based on what I know...was that Galactus during the middle of the end credits scene?
Answer to your spoiler question:Also: Nerd Alert! It was Thanos
Oh ok...i don't know who that isi'm just familiar with galactus from MvC3 really, and his helmet looked very similar up close.
See Cap first.
Manmademan said:Captain America was a solid movie- Avengers is better though. If you're interested in some of the backstory on the plot device that Avengers revolves around, watching Captain America couldn't hurt (since this is where it was introduced.)
its just incredible how this movie had a budget of 220 and it was quite possibly the greatest super hero movie of all time
i dunno, it's no spider man 2.

Well I think it's more a problem of script for GL than the way they used all that money. The Avengers' script is so fucking tight it hurts.its just incredible how this movie had a budget of 220 and it was quite possibly the greatest super hero movie of all time then you have a movie like green lantern with the same budget and its complete garbage in every way imaginable. i cannot fathom how horribly mismanaged the budget was for green lantern.

I thought that GL's main problem is that it felt like two movies pulling in different directions mashed together.it wasnt just the script, horrible casting, horrible budgeting of the special effects. they spent all the money on that horrible looking suit. wasted money on that ugly hot wheels scene. blake lively is ugly. the movie just fails in every way. stupid ass antagnoist, and when it comes to super hero movies origin stories are the fucking easiest and they managed to fail on that.
Loki calling Black Widow amewling quim.![]()
