Agreed. And to be thirty and see this movie you only dreamed of but KNEW was impossible when you were ten... is a different kind of joy.
True, true.

I think Avengers will also benefit more from repeat viewings than TDKR. Everyone will rush out to see TDKR (so much so that even if Avengers does break the opening record I can see TDKR breaking it again 2 months later), but its the end of the series and looks sombre as fuck. Not sure if thats something people will want to see again and again. Conversely, I can see people going to Avengers multiple times.
On the other hand though, TDKR has MUCH less competition after its release than Avengers does.
So who knows?
Meh, I think you guys appreciate the movie a LOT more than a 10 year old will simply because you presumably lived a lifetime of wanting it.
What competition does Avengers have
Dark Shadows ... Dictator ..... Battleship.... MIB 3
What competition does TDKR have
Total Recall ... Bourne Legacy....
Lol
Take a look at the calender before making such silly posts. And even ignoring the two weeks the box office spreads its legs to TDKR, Avengers still has a lot tougher competition.
TDKR has ice age 4 which is a 1B$ movie on its own.
+ UEFA Euro and the Olympics.

Grossed more on Friday than Thor or Captain America grossed in their OW.
Ice Age 4 and TDKR aren't competing for the same audience though. But yes, IA4 will do ridiculous bank.
you sure? i know a TON of 20 somethings who freaking love this movie.
For serious?
TDK got a boost because of Ledger's death and performance. TDKR isn't going to have that extra hype going for it.
I still think Batman will probably outgross Avengers WW when all is said and done.
Picked up the infinity gauntlet series just to see what this Thanos dude is about.
I am surprised to see that you haven't been trampled by blind angry masses yet.
It's a hard truth, but it is a truth nonetheless.
This movie being about a team means it's going to sell a ton of toys and costumes.
Edgar Wright directing + Joe Cornish/Edgar Wright script = guaranteed to be amazing.Man, I really hope they do Ant-man well. My dad loves the character... for some reason. Lol.

My favorite was just the small touch where heMy two favorite Cap moments werethe cops saying "Why should we listen to you?" and Cap showing them why, and using the shield to blow him out of the building.
yeah, you european? they love this shit. my whole company was pumped for 3 and we all are 20-40.

My favorite was just the small touch where hebats that grenade away on the ship in midair. Small detail but so awesome.
One big problem with TDKR is that Bane is trying to cause chaos in Arkham just like The Joker did, but Bane is a far less compelling villain. He doesn't look as scary, his lines aren't as memorable and you don't really see his face.
One thing that is an ABSOLUTE certainty, between both kids and adults alike: Halloween 2012 is going to be completely and utterly dominated by Avengers costumes and Bane/Catwoman costumes.
That was great lolCandidate for funniest moment in the entire movie, simply because the whole exchange was so easy to miss.RDJ comes in speaking a mile a minute and drops in a line about "That man is playing Galaga. Am I the only one who noticed?" before moving right on to plot related stuff. And then just as the scene ends, we get a 2 second shot of the dude turning the game back on
:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
Looking at past beginning of May superhero film performances (Spider-man 1 and 3, Iron Man 1 and 2, Thor), and doing the Math using the Avengers midnight and first day numbers, I think $180M for the weekend is the low end estimate.
Friday - $80.5M ($62M without midnights)
Saturday - $62M
Sunday - $40M (conservative 35% drop from Saturday)
That gives you a total of $182.5M
That said, it is not impossible that Saturday could increase from the Friday number (without midnights) or that the Sunday drop could be softer than 35%.
That was great lol
was another big holy shit moment for me.Iron Man deflecting his repulsor beams off of Cap's shield
Doesn't seem like it was mentioned here but I also chuckled out loud at. Either the audience missed it or they were too damn young to get it!Stark calling Thor "Point Break"
I was wondering about that and that the $175 million estimate seemed low from the Friday totals. Considering the silly good word of mouth, couldn't Saturday go up from the non-midnight $62 million Friday, and the Sunday drop softer than 35%, and the total push close to $200 million? Say $80 million Friday, $70 million Saturday, $40-$50 Sunday.

That, and Stark calling Hawkeye. Lol.Legolas
I don't think it's just his death (that was a pretty big factor though), but also that he did a very radical and believable version of a very iconic character. Joker is THE Batman villain.
Also,That got a huge reaction from the audience.Thor "bringing the hammer down".
There were a ton of great Cap moments in this. One of my buddies is a big Cap fan, and he was very pleased.
