I don't get that joke? Someone explain?
Look at Patrick Swayze in the movie Point Break. Then look at Hemsworth as Thor.

Doesn't seem like it was mentioned here but I also chuckled out loud at. Either the audience missed it or they were too damn young to get it!Stark calling Thor "Point Break"
Spider-Man 3 actually went up slightly on Saturday in comparison to it's Friday when midnights are taken out. It then only dropped 22% on Sunday. If The Avengers follows that path then it's looking at an absolutely crazy weekend.
That was amazing. Really worth the watch. What year was it though? If you haven't seen it yet, you HAVE to watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgYhLIThTvk
It's a bit long, but it's worth every second. It says a lot about John Peters.![]()
60% of the tickets sold on Friday was for 3D. Big reason the numbers are so high.
It was reported that this got an audience CinemaScore of A+. How does that compare to the other movies near the record weekend?
That fact that we are either at, or very near, the age of $200M OWs is just insane.
Exactly 10 years ago Spider-Man broke the 100M opening-weekend barrier for the first time, so it is sort of fitting.
It would be kind of interesting if the first films to break the $100M and $200M OW records were both superhero movies.
Pretty shameless how so many people are being duped to see this in 3D.

What line is this?I will have to keep an ear open for theone too.Legolas
Might blow your mind but there are groups of people wagering that TDKR opening weekend > total gross of Superman Returns. That fact that we are either at, or very near, the age of $200M OWs is just insane.

At my theater there are far more 3D showings. Still catching the 2D one tonight with my girlfriend. High expectations for this.I see 5 2D showings, so how is that a dupe? Want to see it in 2D? GO SEE IT IN 2D! That's what I did.
That would also mean > Batman Begins' entire domestic gross.

Yeah, the first weekend in May is possibly the best slot in the whole year. People are starved for a big spectacle movie by that time.
Considering the very positive reviews from moviegoers and no one really complaining about the 3D I doubt there are many people complaining.
Yes.That would also mean > Batman Begins' entire domestic gross.
The 3D version was horrible for me. Got a headache and couldnt pay attention to the movie.
Yes.

That, and Stark calling Hawkeye. Lol.Legolas
Dont remember any from off hand.Has the third movie in a trilogy ever done that?
Oh, obviously. So is the consensus on the 3D that it's not very well done? I think I heard it was post-conversion, which is never a good thing. My theatre had more 3D than 2D options too. My point was just that there is still a 2D option, so no one is forced into anything.
Point is the movie shouldn't be in 3D in the first place, it wasn't filmed in 3D so it just diminishes the experience. It's nothing more than a shameless money grab.My theatre had more 3D than 2D options too. My point was just that there is still a 2D option, so no one is forced into anything.
Well considering how many people think it will hit or top $200 million it's not that crazy.
Should have waited for a 2D showing.

I can't believe how popular this movie is. Just about everyone I know wants to see this. How well do you guys think Marvel did in marketing this movie through the other movies (Cap, Thor, Iron Man)? Is that why seemingly everybody is drooling over it?
I liked it, but my only gripe was that the "army" at the end was pretty much cannon fodder for the avengers and you never really felt that the good guys were in any real sort of danger.I dunno... maybe I'm jadedHawkeye wasn't even taking cover. Plus, you had a lot of silly action moments in that final battle that reminded me of the mindless action of transformers 2/3.
I am getting a Pirates 3 vibe from TDKR. Not in terms of quality, but in terms of expectations. Many people expected Pirates 3 to hit $160-175M after seeing Spider-man 3's first weekend. They figured that Pirates 2 broke the first Spider-Man movie's record so this naturally had to become the new record holder. Many a bitter tear when that movie made $140M including the Thursday 10pm showings.
I don't think it is a given that TDKR will massively improve on the opening of TDK.
