I still wonder why they didn't have Cap go and find Peggy as an old lady after he woke up. It'd be all tragic and full of drama or something.
70 years later, she would be 90+ or dead. I assume he would visit her grave in the sequel.

Cap is a virgin. No way could he handle ScarJo.
Captain America 2 is going to be a fish-out-of-water sex comedy.

The 90 Year Old Virgin!
I honestly hope the AIM/Modok rumors are true, although from the look of things they plan to re-introduce Bucky.
This is asshole cap, aka, Ultimate Cap

Do any of you REALLY want to see MODOK rendered realistically on the big screen? I would barf.
AIM is a bag of laughs by itself, having Modok wouln't be too terrible. Cap has some of the best wacky villains in comic-dom.
Dick superheroes are the best superheroes. Boy scout superheroes are boring.
Apparently cut from the movie. I'd much prefer it to be in Captain America 2 though, maybe it still will be.
What about Arnim Zola? In the Cap film, there's supposedly a shot of blueprints of Zola's android body when he's escaping the HYDRA facility.
The idea that Cap wouldn't have gigantic respect for France is so silly. Hello, he grew up in a world where France had just won World War I. Then he spent the war liberating France. He had first had experience with the war machine which forced the surrender of France, and I'm sure he also had first hand experience with the French resistance. Nah, forget that, Captain America eats freedom fries and laughs at surrender monkeys.
Weird. I just saw a commercial for DC "New 52" on TV. I honestly can't recall seeing another commercial for comics. I wonder if they knew that this movie would be this huge, and maybe thought they would possibly get some new readers with it? That would be awesome marketing if so. Use Marvel's biggest movie to sell more DC comics.
Fuck...I need to get into comics.

Well, New 52 has be hugely successful for DC since last year, so it would make sense to capitalize on the success of Avengers to make it even bigger.
Is it good? Would it be a good starting place?

Imagine it.
Thanos has scientist slaves designing the perfect bioweapon army. They have the big reveal, where the machine's doors open slowly to reveal MODOK. Thanos, blank faced, immediately kills all the scientists.
Haha Didn't get any of that. The funniest bit for us was when they first show Steve Rogers and the punching bag we hear a little kid go "It's Iron Man!"
Is it good? Would it be a good starting place?
Aquaman, Animal Man, and The Flash are all amazing and I would recommend picking up those.
Especially Animal Man and The Flash.
That sounds like an amazing twist. I'm a sucker for a good twist.
Hes not on Batman.Batman stuff is also really good.
:bow Grant Morrison.
Man, Movie Cap is all kinds of awesome. He pretty much single handedly wins World War II in his movie. Then in Avengers he goes toe to toe with Loki, destroys waves of alien warriors, shrugs off Thor coming at him with his hammer, commands instant respect from regular joes, AND by movie's end is the unstated leader of the Avengers.
Do I wish they hadn't montaged all of WW2, so Cap could have had more screen time adventures? Of course! But they needed him in ice so he'd be ready for the Avengers film. I hope the next Captain movie has some extended flash backs fleshing out some more of his missions, and I'm psyched to see him taking on modern day villains who don't know the king is back.
Hes not on Batman.
Should read Snyders Detective Comics run and current Batman run when you catch up. Its even better.Well it *was* really good.I'm catching up and am still on the 2009-2011 B&R.
Should read Uncanny X-Force if you want to avoid the wackiness thats sprouted out of Cyclops and Wolverines ongoing feud. Easily the best X book in years.Ya, I exclusively read DC stuff right now, which is the opposite of 4 years ago. Something about the X-Men is putting me off. (I've tried Wolverine and the X-Men)

Joss Whedons predilection for killing beloved characters is as obvious as it is heart-breaking and infuriating. There was Joyce Summers, Tara Maclay, Anya Jenkins and many others on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Wash and Shepherd Book in Serenity, Winifred Burkle on Angel, Rupert Giles in the Buffy comics. The list goes on.
And while fans fully expected the writer/director to off someone in Marvels The Avengers Black Widow was an early odds-on favorite once it turned out to be fan-favorite Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), the reaction was relatively muted. The S.H.I.E.L.D. operative is as much the connective tissue of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Samuel L. Jacksons Nick Fury, so youd think there would be more online outcry about his demise. Maybe audiences expect Coulsons timely resurrection, a la Buffy, Spike or Angel (Ive seen suggestions hell return as the big-screen version of The Vision). Or maybe they were just relieved Scarlett Johanssons super-spy lives to fight another day.
Although that may be a mystery, Whedons reasons for killing Agent Coulson is not. At a press junket for The Avengers, the director came clean, telling io9.com it was someone elses idea.
In our first meeting [Marvel Studios President] Kevin Feige said, this is what were gonna do and I said, Oh, but you have to go out there and tell everybody that it was your idea because this is going to get me so much shit. Because they are all going to be like, Oh, he did it again! Whedon said. It was stipulated from the beginning, and I completely agree that it was the right thing to do, and so did Clark, who said in the early days, when I was busy apologizing for it, In a movie like this, with whats going on if there isnt some toll, its just irresponsible story telling.
So there. If you are upset about Agent Coulson, blame Kevin Feige. Or Clark Gregg. Or responsible storytelling. Just not Joss Whedon this time.
@ERCboxoffice
THE AVENGERS' grossed an estimated $13.5M on Wed. Total is now $257M.
LOL Whedon is off of the hook...this time
