Give it to War Machine!

...you guys all hate War Machine. :(

I didn't like don cheadle either but just keep him in the suit the whole time.

War Machine is a bad ass. I was expecting him to have at least a cameo when the military finally arrived. :(

Hope they include him in IM3 and Avengers 2.
spent a pretty penny for his Hot Toys figure dammit!

War Machine is boring. Never been a fan of the character.

They should have a team up film with War Machine and US Agent. They can call it DO NOT WANT.

The 3d was REALLY good. It made the experience much more enjoyable compared to the first time I saw it in 2d.

Whoever said it looked like tacked on BS is full of shit. It looked amazing and its hard to believe it wasnt filmed in 3d. A good example of a shitty 3d showing was Superman Returns- which only used it for a few scenes and it was blurry as fuck.

This was WORTH IT. Go see it in 3d, like now.

Uh...to be fair Superman Returns was released when 3D at your local theater was still a novel concept.

Man I had the opposite experience. The 3D wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special. When I watched it again in 2D I noticed how much brighter it was and how much more detail I could see. For instance, when I first saw it in 3D, I thought the faces of the security council people were meant to be concealed in shadow, but you can clearly see their faces in the 2D version.

Just saw it (finally), so many things to say, but I'll say this.

Loki as the main bad guy = Genius.

Superhero movie bad guys are impossible. You have to fill 90 minutes before just having some weirdo fist fight to finish the film. It's an inevitable conclusion no matter how interesting you make the lead up.

Loki as the bad guy turned everyone on each other. This meant he didn't have to be a threatening physical presence in a final fight, and gave the main characters (the ones you WANT to see) as much screen time as possible as they get together, fight each other, get together and eventually fight together.

Making the good guys the bad guys so they all get more screen time was genius.

Fantastic film.

What's the deal with Beta Ray-bill? I just knew him recently, in fact i've never heard of him before i became a regular /co/ reader

OMEGA-level paraphrasing here but

Alien dude comes to earth, everybody is mad suspicious of him, he gets transported to Asgard, Odin mistakes him for Thor somehow, turns out he's a total dude and is worthy of lifting Mjolnir, becomes a hero in his own right modelling himself after thor and gets his own hammer.

Loki being defeated by Hulk just rag-dolling him was delightfully subversive. And fucking hilarious.

Yep, was fantastic. Turned the expectation of the end of the film on its head. He was never a physical threat, just intimidating as a strategist.

So gooooood

Despite the enormous catharsis of HULK SMASH LOKI, in my opinion the emotional climax of the film is the failed phone call to Pepper fizzling out in space when Tony realizes he may have just sacrificed his life. I knew there was like a .05% chance anything would actually happen to Iron Man, but the character didn't know that, and damn if it isn't shot effectively.

Looks like the FAQ must be posted again!

I actually liked that they didn't spell this out in the movie, as I've said, for two reasons:
1) It's rewarding if you've seen The Incredible Hulk, because it is very consistent
2) It highlights the bond between Stark and Banner, because Stark believed without even a spoken word that Banner would be able to control it when the time came. Thus the "Has Banner shown up yet?" "Banner...?"

:D

Ok this makes more sense now. I thought in the comics he turns into a grey hulk or something when he has complete control of himself.

eh, kinda, but not entirely true. Loki pretty much handed Capt America his ass at the museum before IM showed up. Plus, he went toe-to-toe with Thor for a bit on Stark tower.

But yeah, Loki is a master-level schemer, and that's where his strength lies.

True. That's why I don't buy the "no stakes" complaint some have. You HAD to know going into this movie that none of the Avengers would die, and would eventually win. The whole purpose of the movie was getting the Avengers together so that they could win. Even then, the Avengers were on the ropes at the end and only won because IM diverted the nuke.

Exactly what an Avengers movie should be. :)

It's way, way (I am understating things here. you seriously have no idea) more complicated than that in the comics. It would be really intense and difficult to get into in the movies. The Grey Hulk you're thinking of (Mr. Fixit) is a whole other can of worms.

In the movie universe, we've been shown two kinds of transformations:

1) Involuntary- Hulk attacks friend and foe alike. Has no intelligence beyond instinct for survival and the urge to destroy. In very extreme rare cases, humans that he's close to can reach out to him with words and he'll understand or have some sense of what they're saying.
2) Voluntary- Hulk can distinguish friend and foe, understand and take orders willingly, and even speak a little bit. Banner still doesn't have complete control, as the Hulk will still do things Banner never would in this state (like sucker punching the fuck out of Thor).

I've said it before in this thread, Loki is a Demigod on the level of Thor. Thor's hammer gives him quite the edge for sure, but Loki was running around smashing shit up in Thor's posse well before he went all Shakespearean and decided to kill his dad.

Joe Fixit.
